the snottiness in the following post is NOT directed to you Cause =)

Can't you fucking Londoners do anything right!? This is made with some obscure codec, plays all glitched out on windows media player, and I'm not running version 0.04 alpha software or anything. This is on wmp 6.4 and 7.0 on windows 98. Sound is ok, but video is red and white static. Did you actually try playing these videos after encoding? Bleagh. Amma try converting them to mpg or some other formats, see if that does the trick. If not, please post what codec you used, or ideally redo them properly.

Cause I couldn't see em, little did I know they were so bad

Hold on! Hold on!

This is the first time we've done anything like this! We're bound to make some mistakes... Anyway, I'll encode them as soon as I get some free time.

UPDATE:
Okay... The movies have been recoded to DivX 4.0. They should be much smaller then the previous lot. Mind you, the quality isn't that great.

Use these new links, please!

ReRise to this!

fighters.net has two excellent Vf4 battles from Yamata Contest. mpeg format running time 1:32. Lei vs. Jacky is clean and clear. Only mpeg format w/ or w/out divx coding meets the challenge. zip shrink wrapping is fine as long as it opens in mpeg format. The best porno sites are all mpeg ready.

hey nycat. ..
I noticed your fondness for mpeg.. but divx applies to .avi movies. But AVI's are really common and once you have the divx package your player can handle them. Are you having trouble with other formats (hopefully you can play all those great daioh .wmv's?)

I was fooling around and have almost found a way to convert wmv/asf movies to mpg, but it's flaky and I end up converting only the first half of a movie if I'm lucky (or only a second of it if I'm not). I'll keep searching. In the meantime, let me know if you have trouble with .wmv's, because if you're not seeing them you're missing out.

Thanks for the link too, it was excellent... ramen kawasaki.

Re: ReRise to this!

oops - I changed my mind, it's not an excellent link. Those movies are old. I'm not sure about the lei one, but the kage one is a version A movie (note jacky's back throw is escaped) and it was formerly under the name Battle_joh_vs_kyasao.mpeg .. if I dig around I may have the lei one somewhere. Anyway I kept both and the lei one's in the recent movies folder and the kyasao's in the old TBzone folder.

It finally impacted on me how cheap lei's low kick of doom is.

Are you having trouble with other formats (hopefully you can play all those great daioh .wmv's?) i followed your instructions and downloaded the divx file a few weeks ago. I can view mpeg and zipped as well as avi in divx format. My windows 95 will not support the wmv format. I downloaded a file from your zip doah film and got three files at once. Both wmv give a bufferring message and no dice. I'm missing a good many digi VF4 films..including all the chibita films. I have a few Shinz Lion files. I now desire Vanessa file. Lots of Tekken players starting to explore VF4 battle now that Henry has placed a new Tekken 4 next to the VF4 machine. thx 4 all your assitance CreeD. Re: wmv sadness

I am on a windows 95 machine right now, and it plays WMV's fine, so you might just need to get the best windows media player.
I have a direct link here, and it's always on, and it's only 3 megs.. give it a try and you should be able to play WMV's.

ftp://207.5.239.173/mpfull.exe

choose run from the current location, install as usual, accept all the defaults, and the next time you click on a WMV it should play.
Are you literally getting errors that say something about buffer space? If it says not enough buffer space it's saying it can't access your hard disk fast enough. I get this when my FTP server is crammed full of people leeching files from me. You shouldn't have that sort of problem, but if you do it may mean your hard disk is cranky or about to go on you. Or it may not. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

hopefully this works out for you... the daioh clips are the best I've seen in a while, although I noticed the most recent one (syouha4) is suspiciously bad playing... like one of the players was screwing around maybe. But anyway.
Good luck. Mekong Origami.

Yeah, I've noticed that too... numbers 1-3 are just fine, number 4 contains two players who have apparently agreed not to mC anything, for the whole match :)

Re: wmv sadness

... and surprisingly, the next movies have it too. I'm going to nickname this lion Softie Lion. He again does D, f+P+G and no DJK afterwards, unless he has an elite advanced reason for it.
And then on another match, wolf is facing 90% akira, clearly a fearsome dude, and he pushes him further and further back, correctly hitting him with elbows and knees when akira was blocking incorrectly or attacking. Finally he has a knockdown near the edge of the ring and an easy chance to slay him. What does he do? Stop and crouch dash backwards a few times. The loser. And of course 90% akira proceeds to win the match by ringing wolf out.
Maybe having the video camera watching has something to do with it.

Did you create OMF?
I love that game.

OMF: I didn't create it, I'm just their biggest fan. They're working on a sequel, which promises to be the first full-3D fighter... www.omf.com of course. But enough with the off-topic plugs. :p

One Must Fall!

I remember One Must Fall. I had that game when I was a wee kid. It was like Rise of the Robots but 100 times better. Is the new game any good?

Re: One Must Fall!

I should be happy that it's a 3D game, but I checked out movies and it looks really... free-form. There were even 3 player matches. The game has changed from a pure fighting game to something that looks like virtual on. Actually VO has elements of a fighting game, and it's always a 1 on 1 game. The concept of a 3 player fighting game doesn't appeal to me. But that doesn't mean the game will suck, it might be fun in a different way.

Oops, it was all offtopic.
