UK Players: UMSD version2.0 Tournament

Hey all.

Firstly, I am aware of how this will pale to the recent Evo2K4 but it's the best we can do up here. Oh and the name is totally ott and silly I know. It's only for shits and giggles.

Well, that's the date and place and I'm pretty sure neither will change in the next 6 weeks or so. I've sent out quite a few pms and emails to players and heard back from a few so if you're reading this, want to come and haven't posted in the North UK VF Thread then please do so here.

Any questions or queries are also welcome here.

Thus far we have the following players guaranteed;

There are a few I know who are interested but not sure whether they'll be able to make the party.

Hopefully we'll have at least 2 setups but with any luck 3.

Times would probably run from around 9.30am - 5.00pm.

VF is the main game of the day but if there's call for it we could put on some Hyper SF or Pro Evo, etc anything really I'm open to suggestions.

I'm planning on running things as a mini-league into a straight knock out round to decide the top 3 places. The league part would either be 2 large groups (with top 2 qualifying for finals) or 4 smaller groups (with top 2 in each group qualifying for finals) depending on numbers. Players would hopefully play one another twice in the league stage.

Fights would be standard health bars, 45 sec rounds and the first to 3, with the final being first to 5 (complete with Eye of the Tiger).

If there was call for it (and time) we could also play some mini team battles.

Ideally we're looking to have numbers divisible by 4...12, 16, 20 and so on, so if you can make it please let us know here.

I'll post back more details in the near future.

 

thought i would put something down here, if only to stop this thread from just being a single poat from Chris.

i hope some new people can make it, it really is worth the effort. we are all quite friendly up here, (exept me maybe, but no-one likes me, so it's all good).
Chris, are you going to be supplying us all with snacks and drinks, coz if you are, maybe you should charge a small admission fee (£1ish), otherwise it will cost you quite a bit of dosh, but if you say that we should come with money to buy our own food, then i think it would be rather hard for you to organise a huge bunch of VF'ers who are all hungry, and most of whom have no clue about their surroundings, and get them all to a food shop of some kind. its up to you man, i just don't want you to end up too much out of pocket, but if you think you can deal, it's all good.


p.s. let me know if you need help organising the tournament, i will do what i can.

 

Ahh yeah, should also have mentioned that it will be a free tourney as well. No entrance fees required.

As for snacks etc I don't mind too much buying them as the majority of players are paying money simply to get to the venue so, the money I'll spend on refreshments doesn't bother me too much.

I should also point out that the venue is just round the corner from a small Tesco and Somerfield garage, so if anyone would like "proper" food (as in NOT snacks and fizzy drinks) then there is always the option open to get stuff from there.

As for the organising cheers. If we do have 2 groups as opposed to 4 say, then you can organise one and I'll take care of the other to keep things runnning smoothly.

Ryan Hart here (there's another Ryan too isn't there?), I'm just writing to say that I will be able to attend the tournament in Sept. I hope more people decide to come too.

The HSF version will be the PAL one I think, although I've not touched that game for AGES (Due to the beautiful VF!).

The 'other' Ryan is Faded (from Bonnie Scotland) who ironically also uses Kage as his main, although I don't think he can come.

This is looking to shape up to be one BAD ASS MOTHERFUCKING tournament. (Pardon my French!).

As for the Hyper SF (PAL version) and Pro Evo I don't think there'd be many up for a comp (maybe around 4/5) but we can sure as hell have some matches after the VF games have been played.

I'll add more details soon.

Yeah pes3 seems just a bit too easy i don't feel like i have to try at times to score. Headers are just stupidly powerful.

We8 the goalkeepers are much stronger now but i haven't played enough to know more there is alot of slowdown which is a shame really /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Jide, yeah apologies about that man, I was just puting down totally 100% guaranteed players at first. Plus I haven't "re-waded" through my pms yet to add maybes to the list.

I will do now though.

As for the other games, I only have Pro Evo 2/3 and Hyper SF2 PAL and a PAL machine so it'd probably be those versions we played.

Also, as for groups, I'm doing things sensibly so there will be no stronger/harder group than any other. If the worst comes to the worst and we have an odd number of players or something, I'll drop my place and take on things solely as an organisational role.

Now, as for other games, I'll make subsiduary lists of who wants to play what. Please let me sort them out myself.

Hi Ryan, I'll get Phil Aidoo (who will be 5 min's from the tournie site) to come to the meet. I hear he's amazing at Pro Evo, so he'll certainly be up for that (he doesn't play VF! /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif).

Seriously Ade, please just leave the title as it is.

When it gets messed round with, no one who sees this thread on the main page will know what it's about, plus there's no real need to change the name of the post anyway.

 

I need to take some holiday in September and I would like to attend. I need to take a break outside of London and I've always wanted to go up 'North'. I would like to do some site-seeing aswell. If anyone could shack me up for 3/4 nights I'd more than appreciate it. I can play all VF's (including Kids), FV, DOA 7 mostly older arcade/Saturn stuff. SlimAdey, I met you and some of your friends when you guys came down to Torcs a while ago; just in case you were wondering who I am.

Well, I could stick my neck out on the line and say I might be able to put you up for a night or two in Manchester and show you around if you wanted, though that depends on how things shape up for me.

I start my 4th year of uni in Manchester on the 27th sept hence the date of the meet being before I should have any work...though I have to be in Manchester for a week before to register and sort out things so I'd have to wait and see.

I can tell you now that you'd probably be sleeping on the floor or something if you did stay.
