I've perused the Wolf forum very thoroughly and cannot seem to find any information on how to properly break his evade throw ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from Defensive Move). I checked the Command List and a break for it is not listed. Any help, guys? Thanks.

Side throw escape, depending on the side in question it's either /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif if Wolf's coming at your back or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif if he's coming up to your front (uhm, it's not the other way around right?).

Same goes for Vanessa's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from Defensive Move in Offensive Stance btw.

Wolf's DM move (evade move) is a High Catch Throw, and Catch Throws cannot be escaped.

Hmm, I've seen it be broken before though. Is it really a catch throw?

It's a catch throw but it is breakable. It's also a tremendously shitty move.

This breaks another rule I've been told /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif That's two this week.

    1. Everyone takes the same amount of damage.

    2. Catch throws cannot be broken.

I don't even know what to believe anymore. My whole world is upside down. But I'll probably find out later on it's not upside down it's some other direction!

    lol

It can be broken?? My bad then...

It says in the VF5 system guide that they cannot be escaped, but then again Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif in VF4:Evo / FT was escapable too, come to think of it.

They count them as Catch Throws too?

I compiled that bit of the system guide, crossed all manner of threads and tests. Both that CT's can't be broken and the movelists that state the moves in question are CT's are from Japanese sources originally. I knew the dodge moves could be broken but never thought of checking the classification they gave them.
    Bugger.

My apologies, gotta add an exception for the two dodge throws.

wolf's evade throw CAN be broken.

if wolf goes DOWN, the break is FORWARD P+G.

if wolf goes UP, the break is BACK P+G.

This is wrong and old news that this is wrong. As an example Wolfs Giant swing is a catch throw and it is escapable. However, there are lot of catch throws that can NOT be broken. Its jsut that they are not ALL escapable or unescapable.

wolf's giant swing is a catch throw??? i dunno bout that mate. i think it's just classified as a regular command throw...

    (i could be wrong)

wolf's 6P+G is a catch throw and cannot be broken. evade P+K is a catch throw, but CAN be broken with one attempt.

Dammit, I think it was classified as a catch throw not too long ago...oh well.

I think that the GS is a unique throw in all of VF in that it does seem to have some weird catch throw properties even though it is a standard throw (it can be broken). At least I think it did have some weird attack pre-empting catch throw properties in VF4 and Evo. Not sure about now though.

GS is just a regular throw with a special animation. It has no catch throw properties, moves will either clash with it or beat it cleanly, whereas some catch throws will beat moves on frames.

The only weird thing GS has going for it is the slow version having a deceptively long range.

I just checked the cmdlist to double check but remembered that it didn't have frames for throws, but i believe that GS is slower than standard 12frame throw.. from what I remember it's either 13 or 14, i remember reading or being told about it somewhere. Can anyone confirm?

Actually, in VF5 the two throws have the same speed iirc. In older VF's though, it really is slower. I just call it the slower version cause it is the version with the slower input speed. The range of the throw remains to be different still though, like before, with the slow version moving Wolf forward more (at least I think so).

o ok, thnx. i def think it moves forward.. it also has the teleport thing goin on

this whole thread is full of "i think so" ~~ LOL ~ check!!

btw, goh's ff+p+g is a catch throw and can be escaped

in VF4, wolf's DM move can be low thrown on the first part, throw escaped on the 2nd part. check in VF5.

it's usually decent with range and to duck a few circulars~ but it's no regular stratergy.. as it's .. uhh escapable~
