Vane Command Time Attack

    so ive been trying to do the time attack for Vane once a day just to see some of the moves i never use but i keep gettin stuck on her step out.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif while charging

    i stop and watch the demo (one of the few moves has one) but it kills so much time and doesnt help at all.. 3 or 4 minutes into the workout i get stuck on one move and have to give up..

    the inputs say hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif for 25 and then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif but im always too late or too early, 22 or 32 most of the time.. besides the Exact timing am i missing something.. i try to watch her body, the inputs and the frames..

    no progress and nothing helps.. any tips? it took a week to get her front sleeper, i dont have energy to repeat that process move by move..

    keep holding it down or tap it.. the demo looks like you hold K for 25 frames, let go and press G.. i cant get the timing for the hold to exactly 25f (im around either 22 or 27 right right now..

    shes supposed to stop and not jump forward.. i get her to fake a knee on the forward step but i cant get her to just stand up out of the back step..

    Here's how i do it on the pad: i have the kick button mapped to B and the guard button mapped to A. I do the back back motion with the analog and then hit both of them with my thumb. Vane does her back charge kick. Now i release the edge of my thumb for just a tiny bit then press it again.

    I've toggled the "command display" option and it translates as follows:
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

    but it works for me.

    You should get the same result with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif only vane doesn't change stances.

    PS: on a tangent, i'm actually curious, does anybody use the back charge kick to change stances anymore? I mean, ever since vane can change stances before the round starts, i don't see the point. The cancel is even more useless. The only use i can think of is to show off between rounds - not as flashy as the akira knee though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sleep.gif

    I use it when i want to change stances, and when I want to escape from a rising attack distance.

    You can use the charge kick cancel in different ways. Cancel it into a throw, or if the opponent does evade attack, you can just block and gain adv., though It's not worth it IMO.

    still a bit confused but i havent tried it yet.. everytime ive tried so far i do the 'step in', i cant get her to do the 'step out'..

    might go for some smokes first.. relax, then try again in a bit.. gettin frustrated again..

    Wow!! Wow!! Wow!!

    if i could pull off half of these moves in a match id feel like a real player.. Vane has some awesome stuff hidden pretty deep in her command list.. intruder kick options, throws off stuns and slumps,

    and her 'regular' throws.. i wanna use her wall throws all the time..

    Wow, this woman is dangerous.. impressive, and extremely dangerous..

    thanks again for the help.. got me through offensive and defensive step outs.. just finished Vane's Command list all the way through for the first time..

    But she's slow and has mostly -F after atks even on hit & CO. She's not really a char for beginners.

    Um... just because you can "pull-off" most of her moves during a match doesn't make you good at all.

    And most of her shit is... well, shit, like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif cancels/stance changers.

    yea.. i know, its been a real struggle to get her rhythm and timing down.. i really struggle finding appropriate places to use her moves.. i try her slowest moves at times where a jab would be much more effective and i try to sidestep or OM way too much..

    i know that doesnt mean im 'good', but for me its showing improvement.. having a diverse palate is really important because i find it hard to win using the same 4 or 5 moves.. the first step towards using a good move in the right situation is learning to do it.. any forward progress is a step in the right direction, right?..

    thats also why im on these boards; im not a good player, yet.. i struggle with fighting games and just being able to pull off some impressive looking moves with difficult inputs in practice is really encouraging.. with practice, maybe one day ill actually know what to do, when to do it and how to pull it off..

    thanks for all the help guys, really.. wouldnt have gotten this far without you..

    It's been that way since VF4 guys, and it's not about to change. DS stands for defensive stance - so what if /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (or ALL of her lows for that matter) is on negative frames on CH? That's the way DS is supposed to be played: applying sabaki on opponents from disadvantage.

    The same can be said from OS btw - vane's supposed to play the mid-throw guessing game, not try to sweep the opponent like some DoA wannabe vixen.

    Yes, DS has some serious issues concerning her punch strings and her lack of elbow and - even worse - her lack of a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif -cancellable move but hey, we get things like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead.

    Yea I use 44K+G too much too, but that comes auto if your not good at hitcheck & close combat. Van close combat is very tricky. So most players play her with range doing 44K+G, 66K, 3K & K+G all the time. But that shows only that they are n00b.

    - But thanks to P+K+G to change stance in between the series van can pressure the OP much more than in 4. I still can't use it well. But it'll confuse the OP a lot. Well the player of course too if he dosn't know van 100%. ^-^

    I on the contrary find that switching stances works better if the opponent does know vanessa's movelist.

    Example: I especially like how after the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif oki roll back to safety i sneakily switch stances through /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and charge at them with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Other players just mash me out of it but i find vanessa players usually mind-lock - i bet they are thinking "wtf is that, i was waiting for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif" or even better "he can't do that from that stance?!"

    Same for her switch moves - opponents still try to mash their way out of the switch back blow while vanessa players sometimes mind-lock in place guarding, knowing that vanessa is on positive frames on block, so i try to throw them more often. Inversly, only vanessa players try to retaliate after the switch knee lift, since they know it's on negative frames on hit, other players are more careful.

    It's only against vanessa players that i dare pull some of my cheesiest lame attacks, namely because i know they'll be in disbelief "wtf three low spin slicers in a row, wtf is that guy doing, it's so unsafe i can't believe i keep getting hit by this".

    To sum it up, yomi is different in mirror matches /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
