am i the only person that noticed the enemies are soooo hard... especially when you have a quest mode like win 5 matches in a row without back dashing!!!! im not saying all the enemies are hard just saying as i move further some are just soo hard

If you find the ai hard you could always turn it to beginner difficulty as oppose to intermediate.I'd say the last 2 arcades on intermediate are quite tougher as the ai will TE ( Throw Escape ) generally against your best 2 throws quite consistently and also punish you for any mistake you make with a damage combo over and over...

Theres loads of useful advice on quests and such if you use the search at the top for anything you're stuggling with.

Who are you playing with cause I just noticed the AI has a severe weakness against catch throws, so much so that I can guarantee never losing to one even on standard with Wolf and Shun.

Sorry yes i know ai cant deal with catch throws....I'm an Akira player so I find mainly [6] and [3] are cancelled out for me if i rely on the too much ( mainly Vs Champions ) .Sometimes ST is TE'd too which annoys me but very rarely is [1] ...which isn't that useful other than for more throwing mind games Vs humans.
I don't wanna start abusing [6][4][P]+[G] Vs ai cos it 'll ruin the small amount of human VF action I get ( ie I'd probably be relying on it too much ).

Yeah, the enemies are pretty hard but ive noticed they hold on to the [G] button and press [8] [2] [8] [2] to confuse u from attacking high low or medium! and u have to attack them or throw them at the rite time cuz they block your high and mid attack by [G] and block your low attack with low [G]. They even dodge your low throws by standing and dodge your regular throws by crouching!!!! Who else noticed this confusing move the enemies do

What they are doing is a form of something called "fuzzy guarding" ( I think correct me if I'm wrong ) which enables them to block mid attacks whilst duck throws.Basically there is a "sweet spot" between [G] and [2_][G] wherby this is possible.Do a search on fuzzy guard and you'll find lots of info about it.Basically the computer is messing up your throw game...and IMHO sometimes will cheat.I was once playing a Pai in the 7th arcade I think and just could not beat her.I tried starting each round with a yoho and she would back off with a back dash. When I didn't she would leap at me staight from the round starting.I continued to lose and test things out.If I buffered the yoho command [3][3][P] just before the round had started she would back off and if i did nothing she would generally lunge forward at me.Essentially since the computer can read a humans inputs they can also respond to them with the appropriate action instantaneously. Its only happened a few times but it is annoying when the computer decides to get cheesy on you.

To add to the list of hard players I would say,

Ohsu Akira ( Akira and Sarah)
    Homestay Akira ( Akira )
    Professor ( Lau )
    Guerilla ( Aoi )

    also have a strong ai.

Did you know that after Akiras [P][K] high ranked AI nearly always try to evade (90% sure). You can go for a high throw if they do this.

Hmmmm I ddin't actually but I tend to follow a [P][K] series with a sabaki-attack [3][P]+[K]+[G] to deflect and attack any incoming attack they try to hit me with.I'll test out what you say ,though again I wouldn't want to fall back on it to win matches /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

I've allready posted what I thought about this: here

If you can't be bothered, it just says I think the computer is 10 times tougher to beat in Arcade at very hard setting than the Champs or anyone else from Quest mode. Any thoughts?

against the AI if your thinking about using a high attack don't instead use a mid section move that is NOT a guarenteed throw move, it's ok to use high and low attacks but add variety to the attacks to force the AI to block a certain way (basically a patern) and crush their defenses (goto the training mode for more!)

i agree with ryo. make the AI block in a certain pattern and when you finally find the pattern Go for an attack to hit your opponent... gaurenteed throw moves should not be used when the AI is blocking cuz ull just find yourself in a lot of trouble..... a quick way to attack/confuse AI's is too combine high, mid , low attacks to make a whole new attack method..... but the easiest thing to do when AI gaurds is to throw them but you have to do it at the rite time before they attack

What you say is correct but don't you think it is far more the case when playing 'very hard' in Arcade mode than the Champions in Quest-I've found it much harder in Arc to break through the opponent's defence & so much more necessary to put variety in your play than against the Champs in Quest.

I hate to disagree with you but I haven't really had much trouble from playing evo in arcade on very hard. I did play vf4 an awful lot and also study this site an awful lot to improve my play but I'd say there isn't really that much difference. The very hard ai did escape some of my throws but not as much as the champions in quest do. I even managed to beat purple glowing eyes Dural on very hard too which I was quite suprised with. Please don't think I'm saying this to be awkward but I honestly didn't find it THAT hard.

That's all I wanted to know-it must be me then.
I don't know-I tried Arc out the day I became Champion,& hadn't lost in the final Arc for 2 day's-I go to Arc mode and get with the exception of Lau & Sarah my ass kicked as soon as stage 4...It just made me wonder you know...But fact is that I still haven't attained fully mastered Akira play: I still have to drag his moves out from time to time (especially putting that 'fluid Minami Stepping' in it /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
I'll give it a closer look as soon as I got some more time on my hands: only got 2 serious goes in Arc mode but got my ass kicked 2 times, that's why I made some posts about it-Hey Im a newbie, I could've opened a WHOLE NEW thread, yeah /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I wouldn't just put yourself down like that saying you're just a newbie but as with lots of things it will just come with patience and practice. I've seen posts of people saying quest is easy. Having played both vf4 and evo an awful lot of the past year or so I can say its definately not easy and evo's ai is far superior. If your looking for inspiration as to how to play Akira I'd reccomend watching as many vids of him on this site as possible. It's far easier to watch someone doing his stuff then have someone telling you what you should be doing in every situation.

As ever always make sure you're having fun when playing VF and remember that the more you put in the more you'll get out. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif
