Watch good players/play good players, that thinking may change. More you learn, the quicker the game feels.

Are you talking about online or offline play?

The game slowed down for me after a while, but now that I'm looking for different things it's sped back up again. It'll slow down again, I hope.

What are you comparing the speed against?

Are you new to VF? New to 3D fighters? New to fighting games in general?

I can understand maybe a Marvel player commenting on the speed, but the pace and tempo between those two types of games aren't really comparable IMO.

Watch any one of the exhibition match replays on your game disc. This should give you a better indication of the speed and tempo VF is played at, instead of your own experience against the CPU.

Well the last fighting game i played was 'soul caliber 2' on the gamecube & i guess if i was to compare the tempo and the pace of that from what i've played so far in vf5 on the 360 then i'd have to say that the tempo & the pace in vf5 does maybe seem kinda slow compared to that & also compared to what it was like when i used to play vf on the sega saturn.
But i will take a look a the 'exhibition match replays' to see what the speed is like when the cpu is playing.

The exhibition matches are recorded matches by top Japanese players and not CPU vs CPU. So you'll get a very good sense of the pace between high-level players.

I remember the first time I played VF. I thought it the same thing. Then I realized the other fighters were just lame. With skill comes speed and the tempo does a 180. Never do I have a slow paced game with someone of equal or greater skill level.

Virtua Fighter IS slower than Tekken, Soul Calibur and Dead Or Alive. But that is a good thing. The speed of Virtua Fighter feels realistic in my opinion. While the fast paced action of games like Dead Or Alive and Soul Calibur is most certainly one hell of an adrenaline rush it is also very unrealistic for any human being to be able to move at the speed that the characters do in Dead Or Alive and Soul Calibur.

So yes, Virtua Fighter is slower than those games, but those games are abnormally and unrealistically fast paced.

when you get a hang of the mechanics it'll start feeling faster.

Speed increases with the skill of the players.

And VF, Tekken, SC and DOA is about equally unrealistic. Essentially, they're not realistic at all, they're not meant to be realistic and will never be realistic. So please....never again.

At least in Virtua Fighter you don't see people shooting fire from the palms of their hands or growing wings out their backs...

But you see them hit people up in the air and then hit them 3-5 times while suspended in the air.

    Realistic?

Actually, what I said was that the speed at which the characters move in VF5 feels very realistic to me. I did not say that EVERY aspect of the game is realistic.
