    VF4 in UK

Thanks to Gnug315 in Denmark I was able to find out the loaction of a VF4 machine in London?!? Anyway cheers mate :)

Sequence of events from when Gnug told me where the machine was.

    20:59 (about 5 days ago)
Gnug ICQs me the info about the VF4 Machine
    21:01
I call the place to confirm it's there, the guy goes he can see from where he's standing.
    21:01 30secs I quickly grab a kleenex.......
21:02 call Jason, Roy, Marc, Mo, Shunji to give them the news and tell them that I'm driving up there and that they should wait somewhere enroute, 21:10 pick up Jay, 21:13 pick up Mo (Shunji with me at the time) pick up Roy and Jason at 21:16, 21:20 where in the arcade and we see VF4. WOOHOO!!!!!!

Me first obviously (well...after Shunji coz I didn't have any coins)!! Insert coin, pick Kage, what a pile of SHIT??? *SIGH* I don't remember feeling so dissapointed when I first saw VF3 but I was slightly I remember, but then I grew to like it. All I can say is that VF4 feels WIERD!!! It's gonna take a while to get used to it. I know that it'll probably get better with time (I sure as hell hope so anyway!) but for now I much prefer VF3tb that is a rock solid game.

In VF4 the moves seem to come out slowly, and it feels as though you don't really have that much control. The colours are ridiculous, I hate the colour on VF4. The graphics don't seem to anti-aliased at all either!!!! First impressions.......not good man!

Anyway I'll let some other people from here give their views .

Where were you playing? The only machine I know of is in Bayswater. Were you at Namco wonder park (Waterloo)?

Calling the game "Shit" is a little harsh. You think the game is slow?! On the contrary, I believe it to be faster than VF3 especially with less recovery time, it feels so much like VF2 IMO. I also think the colour is OK, I'll admit that Lau is very "yellow" but all the characters have been distorted in that sence. Take into account that what you're playing is a test version not everything is in place. Regardless of that, weren't you impressed by the stages? The tiles smashing, the snow and the lightning striking the pillars. The characters have never looked or moved so real. Facial animation is amazing and all parts of the character models are astoundingly detailed (see Sarah's six pack, Wolf's muscles and Jeffery's body hair!)

Don't write it off yet, it's not even finished. Give it more time.

I don't know about this feeling weird business. It feels exactly like every other VF game. It plays more like VF2 than 3 but with enhanced floating mechanics from 3. I don't think there's been any speed change at all but the speed of moves have probably changed to make it more balanced.

Nicky Wan. Were you the guy with glasses I met at Bayswater last Friday? who was using Jacky. I was the Black guy who was using Lion and Sarah.

You know this Bayswater place, what is the arcade name?
Ive never been there before, but im interested in playing VF again after rediscovering VF3tb on the DC.
Not sure how Im gonna adjust to the game dynamics, they sound pretty different to DC VF.
    Looks like Jacky time again....

I only heard about it a week ago!

Anyway in response to Adio, I understand what you mean about detailed graphices fluidity etc... But that stuff don't interest me anymore! I need gameplay and solid game mechanics, I hope these characteristics reveal themselves sooner rather than later.

To be honest it doesn't help at all when it's ONE POUND per credit set on HARDEST with just 2 rounds. :( The arcade need to sort that out but they're not listening to their customers! It's a test version but they haven't brought it in for us to test, they f**king brought it in to take as much money as possible.

Jesus mate. Where's your fighting spirit? I understand the money issue but who wants to play an easy game with no challenge. IMO I think the AI is OK. Once you get to Pai then it starts to kick in and the weak will be culled. So the newbies get three matches to "mash" the buttons. Not bad really. Depth you say. Mate, everyone here will tell you that VF is the most in depth fighting game around no one should dispute that. People who complain about the loss of the "E" button are too lazy to see the added challenge that the "sidestep" dodge now gives you, yes it's much harder, but that's what I want.

Hey it's usually set to best of three rounds unless you go to a generous arcade. When VF2 came out in the arcades my bro and I paid played with exactly the same settings as on this VF4.

Hi Hatim, I was trying to get in touch with you a couple of weeks back to tell you about the VF4 machine, but I have lost your email. After trying 407 emails and only getting down to aardvark407@aardvark.com, I gave up.

Yeah, whilst I'm no VF expert (as much as I aspire to be) I know what you mean. When I saw it I was desperately underwhelmed. I have so much respect for you because you even sought out competition on TTT when it was being played by everyone (and ultimately reached the same conclusion as I: it's a diabolical game) so I don't think anyone can accuse you of lacking fighting spirit!

I don't know if you ever played VF2 and can thus see where a lot of the praise is coming from...but let's hope that's it's just an early early beta and that things will reveal themselves. Look how long it took for VF3 to unravel, and it's *still* enthralling.

I just hope that I can start playing it at a competitive level and not sit there like an jackass as you and Robotnik inflict digital pain upon me. What did I ever do to you, hey? :)

    See you in the future.

Hey Hamand, nice to hear from you again. the e-mail is vf@habashi.co.uk thanks for the praise it's nice of you to blow my head up like that.

You don't know if I played VF2???? OK I am the official UK Virtua Fighter 2 Champ (polishes fist) I won £5k, that day was bliss.

As for VF4 well if it gets in to Goodge Street, I'm sure we can stick it out together until you're able to give Robotnik a run for his money.

Take it easy dude, and you have my e-mail. By the way we're thinking of maybe going to play VF4 Staurday evening.

    Later.

Yeah, Hatim is pretty good. Met him at the VF3tb gathering at Namco Station last year. Made me rethink the way to play Kage, all those combos he was pulling off.

I think VF suffered due to lack of machines and hence players to test yourself against (well after Wonderpark shut down anyway). Maybe with VF4 about to make its presence felt, the sport can thrive again.

    Anyway, happy gaming.

Looking forward to a possible VF revival. We live in hope!

Yeah I've been a few times. Gets pretty crowded with kids because of the holidays. Now I'll just hold out for the final release so there's more than one arcade in London carrying the game.

They're using an old Naomi cabinet, previously host to a NBA game, sticker is right there under the monitor. Too bad 2P joystick is a bit rough. It's an early test version, no Vanessa. Overall pretty cool. It's great that VF is back in the arcades....where it belongs.
