It took a few hundred premiere crashes to make it, so I hope everyone
likes it. The idea is to try to explain why the players use certain moves in certain situations. I can't read minds but I can show why some of the attacks and throws were likely to succeed.

The only problem is I need a host for this puppy. It's 40 megs, encoded in divx 5.03 and MP3 sound. For now you can get it from me on irc by joining #vfhome and typing !learn ...it should automatically send to you whether I'm awake or not.

PS: If you can't play it, try downloading divx503 at www.divx.com/divx ..if you still have trouble, (i.e. you have a mac) I'll convert to another format if it's requested.

creed,
does it matter if I use Efnet or Dalnet or any other server? Both of those are not up at the moment, and I've tried other working servers. Got to #vfhome, but no one is in the room.

Last time I used IRC was on my Saturn with Netlink. It's been awhile.

I really want to see those videos!

sup!

Yup, server matters. We hang out on efnet, (which is good cuz dalnet is under constant attack these days) ... to get on efnet you have several servers to choose from.
Some reliable ones for me (lately) have been:
irc.easynews.com
irc.flamed.net
irc.lagged.net
irc.inter.net.il

One of those should get you on. Once on the room should have 20-40 ppl in it. Type !learn and have a blast with my monster upload speed.
If you want to get it faster, some of the people who have already downloaded it have been whoring it out.

PS: there's just one clip but I might make more.
If someone can find me a movie editing program as nice as premiere that doesn't crash... that'd be leet.

get a macintosh. I use my Micron PC also, but I just adore my macs. iMovie destroys anything on the PC. It's free, if you have a mac. Once you cut the video, use the PC to do the WMV encoding.

Of course, Final Cut Pro 3 is the best Pro tool in it's price range ($200) if you're a student, $1000 if you're not.

I'll try this again.

hey catch22 this is off topic but did you know there is a VOOT 5.66 machine with vmu slots in the same arcade here in cali that also has vf4 evo with cards? There is also a small community of virtual on players in cali that has been playing for past 8+ years.

hey proof... it turns out my upload to the site was incomplete. It's shy a couple of megs.. so that's why media player choked on it. I finished the upload and the movie should be fine if you resume downloading the rest of it.

As for windows media player, I'm a pessimistic guy when it comes to MS products. I'll use 6.4 as long as humanly possible. So far it's fine for everything except wmv9 movies, which play ok in Zoomplayer.

Hope everyone else catches this post and finishes their downloads ^_^

daeval,
Nordic is probably referring to the US gaming heaven for all things Japanese arcade- ARCADE Infinity. Damn, damn, damn. I wish I lived in City of Industry, or in Japan.

Hmm I just downloaded the newer vid and media player is still having problems with it >.< It is giving me this messege:

Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported.

Not really sure why it's doing this (I have divx 5.03 installed) and I got the 40.5 mb version.

Edit: Tried it in 6.4 also, and it doesn't work. DivX player runs it fine tho ~

Yeah, I can't get it to display past the first keyframe in WMP9, but it works just fine with DivX Player. Great vid!

Thanks everyone for the kind words...

I've heard windows media player version 9 messes with your divx install and that reinstalling divx fixes this. I never was able to confirm that personally, but I heard it from more than one person. Normally, freezing at the first key frame is a sign of trying to play a divx 5.03 video with divx 5.02.

If y'all don't mind using The Player, it's better about buffering and smooth playback. If you want to get windows media player to handle the clips, a possible fix would be to reinstall divx 5.02 then run the install for 5.03. .. that should undo any accidental (cough) interference from WMP 9.

If anyone wants to see the clip and still can't, I can change it to a more common codec (for example WMV 8). I was pleasantly surprised to find out it plays fine on Mac.

PS: clip 2's on the way /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif
It's divx 5.03 again, hope that's ok.

Video 2 is out!

Download >> VF4Tutorial_2_divx503.avi

Improved over the first one...
-cleaner font with black outline
-only 10 captions, so it flows better
-smaller filesize

Hope everyone likes it.
Playing problems?
-download divx 5.03
-If that doesn't work, play the movie in Divx's The Player
-If it still hangs on your first attempt, it might be a buffering/resources issue. Try stopping the video and starting it again.
-If all else fails, I have a wmv version I can share.

These videos are fab! I can't tell you enough how helpful they are. I know it must be a lot of work putting these together, but they are absolutely worth it. Keep up the great work!

Daniel, thanks tons /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif
I'll keep putting 'em out.

Vesuvius: Check your private messages for the link to wmv. I'd post it publicly, but I have very litte web space to work with and I don't want ppl to get irritated. Plus, I haven't confirmed that the sound on the wmv will work on every system.
