VF4C Ranking Weirdness

Before I post my question, here is a quote from the Ranking Guide and Translations on this site:

Okay. My AI fighter was an Adept at the time of this weird occurance. According to the guide, the only matches that would move her ahead are the wins against other Adepts.

This weekend, she had a ranking match against a Conquerer. She won that match and is now a Master.

How can that be? My understanding from reading the guide is that the only time she would have seen a ranking match was against another Adept, yet she beat a Conquerer to move up.

 

Conqueror is almost on a parr with adept.It's the same level of rank but conqueror is considered a better rank since it's harder to go off on that path ( greater than 78% win ratio ) therefore by beating a slightly higher " ranked " opponent for example master vs vanquisher, grand master vs subjagator can lead to promotion.It is wierd though and I think there have been posts about this before.Try using the search button for help. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've been keeping track of how my fighters are doing as I go. Another thing that I had noticed was that at the time of her win, she was sitting at +3. In the guide, it says that you also move up in rank after +5. In my case, that wasn't the situation. I guess it doesn't really matter too much as long as she's moving up, but I keep a printed copy of the ranking guide close at hand and this little bit of weirdness threw me off. All is cool though.

BTW I realize there's a search function but the one on this forum is very different than the ones that I'm used to. I don't know if I have to be more specific with my search parameters or lighten up a bit, to get better results. Thanks for the advice though. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

 

Yeah it's no problem and yeah I think you kinda have to be really specific about what you want to search for.Another weird thing that happened to me was this:

Playing as Sarah got her to conqueror then played about 600 matches or so and only ever fought con,van,subs ranks then storm,thunder,dragon lords.( as well as High kings and Dural of course )
Playing as Akira ( who is my main char and I am High King with ) went on adept , master,g.master series yet fought con,van and subs as well.When on sub,con,van, ranks I never fought any adept tier fighters......
Also I got to Stormlord without winning 12 times in a row and without beating 10 same ranked opponents ( or whatever it is I forget).Strange. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
