"Exclusively for the Xbox 360 - The Virtua Fighter 5 Limited Edition Arcade Stick! Put the smack down on your friends in style with this, officially licensed and endorsed limited edition arcade stick."

Sounds like it'll be as short term as the DOA4 stick was. Game-specific sticks always tend to go out of supply quick.

That means the High Grades will probably not work with the X360s....now I have fears....

Wow, this is great news. Sure, it's not gonna be the best stick ever made, but think about it: there hasn't been a VF-related stick released in the US ever really (unless you count the DC sticks).

Interesting to note that this is happening the moment VF hits the 360, while all PS releases have gone w/ no stick.

With the ability to mod the DOA4 stick to Sanwa parts, people should be thrilled.

I'm too used to the VSHG now. Think i'm gonna try to figure out a way to mod it for the 360.

that a stick made and marketed for PS3 would work for the 360? I do not understand this. Yes, I am ranting. No, I'm not singling you out Kai. I've heard this hope from more than a few people and I don't get it. I know both systems take USB input - c'mon, though. Different PCBs!

No worries Plauge, no offense taken. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

The only reason I was considering is because hardware manufacturers have to get with the times. Let's take a look at what USB stands for.

    Universal Serial Bus.

Well now, if it's supposed to be Universal, why doesn't it work on a Xbox360 USB port? Why does it work on a PC?

With these questions, of course I'm going to have high hopes that it would work on a X360.

I could go on and on about this, but in the end I think the companies are just too lazy and greedy to make it work for the gamers.

It would be awesome if the high grades end up working on 360s but if it doesn't I'm not going to bitch about it. I've made the decision of buying the PS3 sticks and I will take full responsibility in doing so.

Is it really Microsoft's fault? Why should they go out of their way to support a device that was built for the PS3? The VSHG has a "PS" button on it afterall.

Just because both consoles have USB interfaces, doesn't mean jack. In order for any USB device to work on the console, the relevant driver must exist. Why should Microsoft create drivers to support PS3 peripherals?

I can plug in my video capture device over USB which will work fine under WinXP, but not under Linux (a different OS). Why? Because there are no drivers for it.

If Sega wanted to, they could have built the VSHG with a switch to select between PS3 and X360 modes. Each mode would be compatible with that consoles joystick driver, and the world could have been that tiny bit happier.

But since when was Sega in the business of doing a favour for its customers? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif This issue only affects the hardcore market. That is, those who own a PS3+VSHG who are also considering getting the X360 version.

I am personally fucking sick to death with the number of joysticks I've had to (and probably will continue to) invest in to play this game. However, complaining about this, and just about every other problem we have an issue with, inevitably falls on deaf ears.

I was merely joking with that statement (tech humor) but on a serious note.

I hear that the only controllers that work on Xbox 360 have to have Microsoft's signature chip inside. If that is true, wishing for VSHG compatibility is a moot point.

NEway, back to jokes. VF 360 owners can probably use this! heh heh /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

USB only means that a number of different types of signals can be sent through the bus. Audio, data, video can all be transmitted via USB as long as the system, such as a PC, is not only capable of recognizing what is being sent via USB, but allows it.

Microsoft isn't lazy at all, it's 100% greed behind the fact that X-Box 360 units refuse to recognize signals from non-MS approved devices.

Sure it would be possible to modify a VSHG with parts from a USB device with MS compliance...but that's certainly not easy. I would simply bite the bullet and buy a VF360 stick. The 360 sticks are designed SPECIFICALLY for the 360 AND for VF5.

Actually, I think you are wrong on this. I know I shouldn't be quoting Wiki, but they are pretty accurate:

"A major component in the legacy-free PC, USB was designed to allow peripherals to be connected using a single standardised interface socket, to improve plug-and-play capabilities by allowing devices to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the computer (hot swapping), and to allow specific classes of hardware to be used without requiring individual device drivers to be installed."

But with all things technology, this didn't end up happening now did it? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Bingo! We all knew this from the beginning.

Well, good thing I still have my DoA4 stick....which was the FIRST stick to work with VF5 on the X360. If it works.... heh. ;p
