Okay to add some further discussion on VFDC!

This is not to be taken too seriously.

But I'm trying to create a formula to see if we can work out who the best chars are in VF5. Yes I already know of Koedo and co's tier list before anybody chimes in.

So I've tried breaking them down into individual sections.

Throw Game | Punishment | Damage | Okizeme

I've plucked the throw game tier list from the previous thread

S Wolf, Kage, Goh, Aoi, Blaze, Jeffry
A Pai, ,Vanessa, Lion, Lau, Akira(Possibly B for me)
B Sarah, Lei Fei, Jacky, Eileen, Shun (0 DP)
    C Brad

I actually think Blaze's throw game should be in S class now that I look at it. His directions [4] [1] [2] [3] [6] a catch throw? Plus two damaging low throws.

    Damage

    Interesting one

    S Jeffry, Wolf, Brad, Akira,
A El Blaze, Lau, Lei Fei, Goh(?)
B Jacky, Eileen, Shun, Vanessa, Pai
    C Kage, Sarah(?), Aoi, Lion.

Not really sure of the placements here.

    Punishment

    S Sarah, Brad, Akira
    A Jacky, Lau, Wolf, Jeffry,
B Goh, Eileen, Shun, Vanessa, Pai,
C Lion, Aoi, Kage, Lei fei

Feel free to add anything I have missed.

    *(?) Unsure of placement

    I gave up on Okizeme

But if I were to have two chars at the top it would be Lion and Kage. (Okizeme)

Jacky throw tier should be higher. 45 55 for 3 different directions given his speed and excellent strikes.

    We talking VF5 B or C?

    Regardless,

    Throws

I'd bump Brad to B, Akira/Lau (maybe Lion) down to B, Goh/Aoi to A, Sober Shun to C (Drunk Shun B). If you count Vanessa as 2 characters: DS=A, OS=B

    Damage

Sarah to B, Blaze to B

    Punishment

Aoi to B (maybe), Vanessa DS=C (until -17), Maybe even bump Jeffry to S

    Best Jiggle-step ([2][1][2][1]etc)

S: Sarah, Aoi, Lion, DS Vanessa, Eileen, Lei-Fei
    A: Jacky, OS Vanessa,
B: Blaze, Wolf, Kage, Goh, Jeffry, Akira, Shun, Pai, Lau

    Boring as fuck to play

    S: Lau, Pai, Akira, Goh
A: Wolf, Jeffry, Lion, Jacky, Kage
    B: Vanessa, Shun, Lei-Fei, Brad
C: Sarah, Aoi, Eileen, El Blaze

    Most picked by assholes

    S: Entire cast

    You're wrong, Sebo. Blaze's Jiggle-step is easily S+++OMGso1337 tier.

Lolwut? Why would Brad be anything but lowest tier for throws?

Also what makes you think Sarah should be placed at B for damage? Her wall damage is terribad and she suffers some serious hitbox down syndrome.

Blaze shouldn't be top tier (throws) because he doesn't have ground throws. That was the line of thinking in the original thread on throws i believe.

Kage lacks low throws so i don't think he should be S (i do realise that his standing throws are stupid good).

Eileen and Brad both have low damage coupled with few directions. You can argue about their ability to create 0 frame throw situations, but that's more to do with good play rather than good throws, right?

Jide do you have the time to explain how Vanessa's OS throws are A rank and DS punishment is B rank?

I am asking because you seem to have taken into account that Shun's throw game is B rank when he's sober but somehow the fact that Vanessa cannot be at both stances at the same times seems to have eluded you.

    Thank you for your time.

Personally I think it's hard to really break the game down in separate sections like this and get an accurate tier list, since the characters all work differently.

For example: people are saying Brad has the worst throwgame, but the way he works makes it easy to throw people (lots of 0-frame opportunities from his stances etc. ), so if they were any stronger there's a good chance Brad would be overpowered. Is there really any reliable way to take these things into account if you're gonna make separate lists like this?

Regardless, these things are fun to look at, so I just wanted to add that if we're going down this road, it's probably good to add a list for 'Distance Game'.

    Distance Game tier list:

    S Tier:

    Vanessa
Akira (since you can't keep him out :X)
    Kage
    Lau

    A Tier:

    Jacky
    Sarah
    Shun
    Lion
    Wolf

    B Tier:

    Aoi
    Jeffry
    Lei Fei
    Brad
    Pai
    Goh

    C Tier:

    Blaze
    Eileen

Something like this? No particular order inside the tiers.

Not quite sure on a couple of characters:

I placed Akira in S because I always have trouble with him at a distance [IMG] (or anywhere for that matter), dunno if other people agree with that.

Shun is weird with his evasive properties and his built-in backdash stuff, don't know if he should be in A or B.

I also don't know enough about Pai to place her on the right spot.

    EDIT: Missed Goh, thx Seidon

That would be the same as punishment, no?

Well you can't really "punish" anything with between +1 up till +9 (unless you are Vane and have 3P in DS!)

I guess in a way I'm asking who has the most powerful flow charts.

lei is definitely A-S tier in distance. He has several options for distance. Arrow punch can back stagger a FDHT techroll in either direction. He has a roll forward that u can do a his k combo for good damage/catch throw mix up. And he can easily create space quickly with stances to create whiffs. And 4p+k,p is a really easy punisher to use on whiffs, and hit tracks. 33pp has great distance and hit tracks. 66k+g full circular mid, great mix up options. Combine a forward dash on this 66,66k+g and it becomes effectively mid-long distance. I would put lei in S tier for distance.

    personally for leifei
Throw game B He has two throws that u combo 60 to 72 dmg varies by character, and 3 step throw for 60 something dmg,3p+gfor 50/50 guess on light down attack or om to the head to setup oki and 64P+G can setup very good oki with ura koko stance
    Punishment A pp for -13f.43p+k, 66p, k, k+g for -14f.i think 3k, 2p+k and 43p for -15f. 9k+g, 6p, 6p+k, 3pp for -16f. 9k,66p+k and p+k for -18 many options but few knock downs,many stagger moves,2 great ones for combos
Damage S very powerful near wall. most of his combos on ch does 65+ dmg without walls
Oki S his moves from stances are very powerful during opponent getting up or rising k. i only scratch the surface with it and trying to perfect it.its no wonder no one gets up against lei lol

    S = Akira.

46P+G up against the fence and everyone goes out. Add to that, I think pretty much everyone will get floated over the fence if they are one character distance away and get MC'd by SDE, KNEE, Doublepalm, and, maybe, YoHo.
