Picked this up from amazon, but not sure what version of FS this is for... Is it remotely recent?

Sorry, way out of touch with VF5 [IMG]

    Master Guide - Pre-Version A

Current version in Japan Arcade is Version A Revision 1

In Southtown Arcade events - it is the arcade board Version A (relatively little difference compare to Ver A. Revision 1)

In the Console DevKits - it is Version A Revision 1

When Console Version is released, it should be exactly the same as the latest version in Japan.

Hmm that's too bad, I wonder if they'll release a new mook, there aren't any others right? Are the changes documented anywhere or does it pretty much turn into finding old arcadia issues or something?

random tangent: there's arcade final showdown outside of japan? how does that work without all.net? is it cracked like the konami stuff already? [IMG] I need to buy a ringedge [IMG]

No, the machine was put there by Sega America. You should be able to update your guide yourself if you check out the relevant changes threads here. When the game shows up i'm pretty certain VFDC will have the frame data as well.

That won't help you too much because all arcade versions of VF5 run on Lindbergh.

I usually use the guides only for the "omg you should use this" or "this is the combo you can do in this specific situation" though... The frames I can check on my cell phone...

VF5 and VF5R do for sure, but I remember VF5FS being on ringedge instead? (just checked and at least wikipedia agrees with me...)

Thanks for the help guys [IMG]

Frame data guides actually aren't going to be that useful in FS cause all the information can be displayed in training mode if I'm not mistaken.

However, character and vs-character guides, system guides and combo guides will be much needed and is probably something that will draw a lot of new people to VFDC who are looking for information on the game.

Having things in print is nice to look at.

Normally, I wouldn't go solely on Wikipedia, but System 16 says Ringedge too, so I'll admit I was wrong. Sorry about that.

AM2's Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Website state that it is Lindbergh...I think AM2 is pretty reliable [IMG]

Yeah the only official-ish stuff I can find (both vf.jp and the AOU2012 page) say lindbergh... Wonder where the confusion comes from... Initially I assumed people were confusing the cabs and the hardware, but the AOU page even specifically says "board" is lindbergh...

Oh well, wonder if the STA guys can show me today [IMG]

At the last STA tourney I could of swore I saw something that said Lindbergh when they boot up the 2nd machine

It is Lindbergh, and AM2 applies new hardware with each series.

Hello! Is there any updated master guide (in Japanese is fine, of course) on sale? Thanks!

Raoul, good to see you! Is this the same Raoul I met way back in the day for an earlier version of VF?!

The VF5FS machine at South Town Arcade was heavily worked on by Sega's engineers so they could use it to promote the release of VF5FS on consoles in America. There's a nice story behind that and I was lucky to have a nice conversation with Sega's Syzygy about it, but yeah, according to him, it wasn't easy at all and took quite a lot of time. This also led to the machine being at PAX 2011 announcement to be so last second because they weren't sure if it was even going to be done and shipped in time for that event--we literally heard about it being there less than a week before PAX (I think it was like 2-3 days before PAX started).
