[IMG] Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is making its way around the United States! VF fans in the Midwest be happy as Keits from Shoryuken have announced that VF5FS will be demoed at the UFGT8 event in Chicago, IL from May 25th-27th.

Similar to the NorCal Regionals 10 event in San Francisco, there will be a side tournament (64 player limit) with prizes given to the Top 8. If you live in the Midwest area and want to get a taste of VF5FS before it is officially released this might be the best event to go to!

The $100 for first place in the VF5FS side tournament is coming out of Keits own pockets - so kudos to him

Does anyone know when the game is finally coming out? I'm going insane waiting now that it's getting closer to the epically vague release date of "summer 2012"... I'm praying we'll see it in early June, if we have to wait untill August, I'm gonna die.

No release date yet, but i'm sure it'll be June. Sega just posted about this Midwest tourney on FB, looks like it'll be fun.

As much as I'd love to make it out to see Chicagoland buddies and play VF, I'm running panels at Fanimecon that weekend. [IMG]

It'd be rad if some of the old Chicago scenesters re-emerged for this, though. I wonder what Shota's up to these days?

Reserved my hotel room already. For those planning to attend to just play casuals and VF5FS only, you will need to purchase an event badge ($15) and not the venue registration fee ($30-$50 depending on when you register). Pay for the venue registration fee if you plan to participate in the other fighting game tournament events.

He lived in New York for a brief time circa '04-05. I think he's in Japan now.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to post and welcome all the potential VF players planning on making it out to UFGT8. Really appreciate the dedications you folks have had for the game through out the years. And it seems it's finally about to pay off soon - with VF5: FS within reach to our consoles this June.

I'll be staffing this event. And I hope to enter the VF5: FS tourney as well.

Hope to get a ton of casuals in with everyone.

Really good to meet you Akai and Shag. You guys are cool as all get out. Digimon and Cam, you two already know: Nothing but love for you guys!

Nice meeting you Lord_Hollow, and also thanks for commentating on the stream!

Met lots of people: Immortal, I am the Mideast Guy, Shremps (sic? Pai player), and Shingin (I apologize if I got your nicknames wrong and people I remember talking to, but I have forgotten your names). Glad to finally meet Denkai in person and also got time to talk to Shag a bit more (hope you guys got on your plane in time!)

Congratulations to the top 4 finishers (Denkai, Shag, Floe, and STL Tim).

Thanks Sega for bringing it to the event. UFGT8 was a fun, well organized event. I definitely would attend the event in the future!

Nice to see you on the site Lord Hollow, I've noticed you filming the game at UFGT and FR. Hope to meet up and play at one point. Also shoutouts to AU_IM_DIGIMON for the games on Sunday. You might not remember this, but I played you in some VF4:Evo casuals some years back at one of the MWC tourneys (as well as Floe).
I talked to this guy for a bit as well. I'm sure his handle is Scrimps.

Total experience was alot of fun, wish I had played more VF (obviously heh heh).

Thanks for everything akai! [IMG] Remember, lunch is on me next time. [IMG]
