    Just IMHO, its probably better to keep these kind of threads out of the dojo until the game is released - the stuff in location test right now is open to change.

    With that in mind we can talk about what has changed so far knowing that it might change again:

    SDE cause crumple on CH/MC, like in VF4/EVO/FT.

    as u guys already know, when counter hit, it doesnt float anymore but crumples. sde blocked, if opp tries to use catch throw as soon as possible, u can just duck it. same goes for akira's 46p+k+g.

    no more float up p. but dmging up and it became a true mid.

    Spod(p+k+g,43p+g,4or6p)
    blocked, nothing is guratned. good tool against crouchers.

    new move, fast mid. on crouchers no stragger, but u can use as akira's elbow.

    its a high move. the range is far and pretty dmging. normal hit opp down. best use it at mid range.

    GBOD(Gurad break of doom....)
    its a guard break (spod)... akira has a lot of strong mid strike moves, so maybe its a good idea to mix up with this new gbod sometimes. and the command its 3p+k+g(gb),43p+k,214p or 236p,46p or 64p.

    just let u know that old 3p+k+g is gone.

    It's crazy there is no guarantee after SPOD!!!
    AM2 increases these moves which are really useful for AKIRA,
    I can't wait to see how he works on R!!!

    Bah. This was very useful move to crush lowpunchers, especially in laggy online conditions.

    LOL @ Manji, always finds a way to complain but wanting something for "laggy online" is an all time new low! Besides, Akira has other tools for dealing with a low punch.

Akira has no other Akira-specific ways to deal with low punches unless you count low reversal, which has a better active window that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif anyway.

    The whole point is people who low punch from their own disadvantage, in which case /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is a simple one joystick input way of crushing them. You cant use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif the same way in that situation without delaying it.

    Id much rather have the old utility move than ANOTHER variant of guard-break-> StPm combo. (yes, the GBoD does basically identical damage to Akiras StPm combo). Not to mention that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif was a good move to sober Shun. now Akira cant sober a KD Shun if Im not mistaken. With his old move he propably could have hit Shun out of liedown stance and sobered him in the process for 1 dp.

    And reason for Akira having a 16f true mid that doesnt knock down is...? Its useless, and thats no news. Unless they make something combo off it on counterhit.

    I thank for Ogi for his effort of posting the news, but I jsut cant understand the removal of these moves. If Sega had just introduced pointless moves I could have ignored them. If they REMOVE useful moves and replace them with pointless moves expect me to comment on that!

    ps. SDE and SPOD changes are good, (SPOD is only punch/throw counterable in VF5 anyway) others I cannot comment about as I dont know the new moves. A new 'elbow' style 14f move is unneeded, especially if it doesnt cause crouch stagger which would have been the only redeeming feature.

    If you can't DE or SDE someone low punching from disadvantage then you're missing the whole point to Akira.

    Maybe the same reason why he has a 14f true mid that does knock down? Oh wait, you want you everything.... my bad.

    Are you kidding me? Have you not seen the monstrous damage it leads to from a wall hit? That makes it pretty far from useless in my books.

    Look, Manji, the changes have been made and there's nothing you can do about it now (nyaa!) But, you really have a trend of complaining a lot when it comes to R, and it makes my ears bleed.

    Here's how some people deal with change.

    1. Roll with it! Let's face it, we don't know when/if we'll ever get to play R. Patiently wait for a console release before you get too emotionally invested. Read the changes people share with you, nod your head, and move on. It's a win for all.

    2. Face up to it! Challenge yourself to think how this might affect a gameplay aspect/situation and see if there are new ways around it. The designers often attempt to shift focus in a character's arsenal (remember Sarah's Flamingo?) Coupled with discoveries from movies, this can create some positive and interesting discussion. Another win all round!

    3. Reject it! Complain, bitch, whine, kick, scream and protest your disapproval of the designers not replacing like for like! This has zero positive value for the forums, and nobody is interested in hearing complaints.

    This last method for dealing with change is so full of lose, and is one you continually follow. Didn't you learn anything from past VF5R Sarah discussions? Have you forgotten how loudly you protested at how weak and nerfed she was in R? Please... stop?

    I won't miss this move at all as I often forget it even exist. GBOD for the new 3P+K+G command? I bet you I'll remember that command now. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

    While I am really excited about the changes for R, I am a little sadden that they took out the follow up elbow to 2_6P(P), but I am fine with it at the same time because it forces me to play Akira a little more creatively. To many times have I just thrown 2_6PP out their mindlessly in hopes of the follow up hitting a crouching opponent or a twitching opponent. There have been so many matches where it feels like your playing the worse game of soccer against your opponent. Soccer players should know what I am talking about when your playing boom ball where you are just blasting the ball back and forth across the field without planning. It's like "oh someone is getting close!"... kicks ball as hard as he can mindlessly to the other teams territory without a plan. Oh wait here it comes right back. Zzzzzz! Often Akira mirror matches are like this where you see 2_6PP like 2-3 times in a row.

    My other gripe which is very small is I am totally greatful Akira is getting a elbow class move back, but FUCK it doesn't stagger a crouching opponent???? Are you kidding me? Yet Shun keeps 3P and all it's evasive crap plus gets a elbow with a follow up and special stance if I heard right? *shakes head in confusion*

    All in all R should be fun. Hopefully we will not have to wait long to play it.

    I saw some recent videos of Homestay, whose victories seem to confirm that Akira is a powerhouse once again.

    I'll try to summarise the changes:

    - Reverse Bodycheck throw causes back collapse
    - SDE on CH causes (gut?) collapse
    - Renkantai can be used very often to hit an opponent who just hit the ground
    - The new super combo (can we call it AS4?) REALLY seems to do tremendous damage
    - Yoho has an improved inbox, in one instance Homestay manages to use a grounded opponent like Knee would normally do
    - The second hit of the now simplified DLC *SEEMS* to connect if the opponent is crouching when hit by 3K+G

    Although I'm going to miss the elbow follow up to the single palm, SDE that collapses on CH seems to bring Akira back to the top (or near there).
