Okay, most of the folks that played me on LIVE knows I use Wolf and El Blaze. I usually mess around with Jacky because of the "Filthy" stuff YuuKun and Jerky showed me, lol(Ask Auvii, he knows) And everyone knows I'm a HUGE Kung Fu Cinema fan(Look at my avatar on VFDC and LIVE) So, I need to repersent, for Shaw Brothers sake, lol.

The folks I have in mind are, Sarah, because she reminds me of my baby girl, Janye Mansfield(Google her folks)And plus, the women has style. The Old Man, because he has the greatest low kick in the planet(Ask Konjou, lol)And of course....Lei "Motherfucking" Fei, Because I have a "Wu Tang" avatar on LIVE and Master Killer is my favorite movie of ALL TIME! Why not Pai? Because she looks like my Ex. Why not Lau? Because I will never be as good as Happy Friend. Why not Lion? Because he's French, I kid. Can't stand the mans voice.

So VFDC, Should I start with the Blond Bombshell Sarah? The Old Man, Shun Di? Or the man himself, Lei Fei, from the slums of Shaolin?

    Akira, the man.
jk but in this roster I'll choose Shun Di, fun to play, no ridiculous inputs, insane mix-ups and kicking asses with an old drunkard is priceless.

Akira helps with the "hit checking" and "tap speed"

Simply doing a million or so "666p" does wonders for your hand speed.

Oh don't forget to do "444p" as well.

Things like buffered 246P, are technical skills relevant and important to all chars. Many of Akira's moves need crouch dash buffering.

You'll suck but you'll learn the hard way. Building hand speed and dexterity is important to improving.

So yeah Akira is good choice.

Yes you're right. Akira is good to get speed and accuracy on the stick. And his gameplay lays on good yomi, it's a very basic character with simple strategy but insane inputs.
Anyway, I don't think Shinobi Fist was going for AK lol :p

I've been using Akira lately and he's too fun, you guys are right about his inputs making you faster.

ShinobiFist, I'm a Sarah player and I don't recommend Sarah. imo you should use Shun.

Play around with everyone; it isn't our decision. You'll start to play the one that "feels" right.

Of course I'd just suggest to improve your Wolf and Blaze (or even just one). Knowing every nuance of a character can really work to your advantage as opposed to playing multiple poorly.

I know I could've kicked more ass with Sarah at the last NorCal meet had I not put many more hours in Vanessa/Lion/Brad/Akira/Goh/Wolf/Aoi/Jacky testing (no need for Jeffry testing... open book).

I'm not going to give up on El Blaze, or Wolf. Just looking for a 3rd to repersent my Kung Fu Cinema love. I won't be using my 3rd at tournys and such. Just trying to have fun during player matches and local play.

I'd go with Lei Fei...he plays differently enough from El Blaze and Wolf that it won't negatively affect how you play with your current characters.

Damn homie, whats your beef with Sarah? She's your baby momma or something? LOL.
@AkiraZero, yeah, I'm down for some Lei Fei matches, this weekend in the Jersey tourny.I'll be there Sunday, with the NYC Crew(And VA) Is going to be fun meeting ya guys.
@Ice-9. I see what you mean. I'm going to give Lei Fei a spin tonite. I already know how to mess with him and all(Same with Sarah)But trying to improved more on what I know.

Lei Fei and Akira are very similar.

Hand speed is quite important. Lei's lack of an elbow from crouch relies heavily on:

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif
-So hand speed can be improved with Lei too. Not to the extent of Akira.

IE. I use Lei Fei as a main. I picked Jeffery to bolster my defensive and throwing game. Akira for accuracy and handspeed. Shun for flair and positioning. All these chars helped improve aspects of VF I wouldn't have otherwise developed if I purely stuck with LeiFei.

Not to mention overall hand speed and accuracy required for stance manipulation and cancelling.

Its possible to play without this... but a third character doesn't need to complement your skills.. If anything it should directly "supplement" them. The characters you play already are similar. Its pointless to choose another char that has PPP. Its more important to lessen your weaknesses as opposed to improving your strengths.

Lei will teach you about advantage play through his:
    PP

    Slams: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

    Sabakis

    Stances

    Crumbles.

However Lei won't teach you much defense as he tends to constantly attack.

Thanks for the pointers, Ken. Best breakdown I got from anyone on this subject. Playing with El Blaze is fun, and it was easy to pick him because I've been using Wolf for years. I thnk by going with Lei Fei. it will help me improve on my offensive tatics that will benefit my other fighters as well. Thanks for the breakdown, Ken.

    Good discussion.

I've pretty much only ever played Lion - even though I'm still learning the basics, I might try to pick up a second character as well.

Who'd be the polar opposite to Lion? Jeffry or Wolf, maybe?

I say go with, Jeff. He gets no love. Playing with characters like Wolf, Jeffry, El Blaze and Goh. Gives you a understanding on how to set up your throws, and your defense. They rely on their throws to do big damage, unlike others who rely on their offense to do major damage. Every time I fool around with Jacky(I'm not that bad with him) I depend to much on setting up the throws, then relying on his explosive offense.

But, if I pick up a offensive character like Lei Fei, Shun or Sarah. I could pick up a couple of good traits that would benefit my other characters as well(Wolf and Blaze). Go with Jeff, homeboy is alot of fun. And he's "Threat Stance" is one the best yomi setup's in the game.

Well, he's throw from that stance has great range. So does he's kick and slap. I've seen good Jeff players mix them up quite effectively. The beauty of the threat stance, is the fact you could delay the throw or attack in a very convincing fashion(You almost see he's foot hit the ground, the one he uses to raise the leg up during the beginning of "Threat")And when you catch someone with good delay(With K)it's usually a CH that crumbles them, and you could go for a low throw, or a bounce combo.

Good use of the "Threat Stance" goes very well after a standing K+G connects and side turns the opponent, and enter "Threat" and let the guessing game begin. Even if you get a chance to stagger a opponent, going right into threat gives that person something to think about right away. The "Threat Stance" is a work of art, IMO. Of course, you backdash away from it, lol. USE IT RIGHT!
