VFR soundtrack impressions - better than Ver C? ^^

So, what do you think of the new VFR soundtrack overall?

It is my personal opinion upon viewing a ton of VFR vids that the VFR soundtrack is simply amazing. Seems like every stage has a more up-beat and adrenaline pumping tune than before, excepting, perhaps, Snow Mountain (I really hope the old version will be an optional track, even though the new tune is brilliant too).

Imo perhaps the single most significant improvement can be found in Akira's stage, which now has a track truly befitting Akira's role as the serious and tormented warrior he's supposed to be (frankly, the current Ver C. theme pisses me off). My opinion is that the VFR soundtrack completely blows away all previous VF5 tracks. Nuff said, l8r my nizzles ^^

not quite. Lion,Lau,Shun and imo Akria has gotten much worse. Everyone else though especially Sarah's theme has gotten much better.

Hmm, about that Akira theme. I'm referring to this music:

Maybe u meant this theme, which sux:

2 tell u the truth I'm a bit confused about that latter vid - can Akira have two themes? The tune in this vid is probably the worst tune in VF history :p Anyway, the music in the first vid is presented in Akira's intro vid in R, and the stage which, imo, has to be Akira's stage, so I based by opinion on that o_O

Second vid is Lion's stage. I don't like that theme. Lion's VF2 theme for the win. Same for Jacky.

Also, Akira's new R theme is great compared to the VF5 one, as are those of Lei-Fei, Wolf, and especially Kage. His VF5 theme was dire.

Sarah has the best new theme though.

Ha! That explains it :p The most annoying theme for the most annoying char. Figures -_-

Btw. if this is Brad's theme, I'm loving it too:

Sarah's new theme is most def cool, but imo the greatest improvement was w. Akira's music. Whether or not it's the best theme in R is a matter of opinion. I think it just might be /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'm not a Sarah but her theme has always been the BEST! The only exceptions was VF3 which was alright. It had a little catchy feel to it which made you want to whistle the harmony, but it was definitely not on par with everything else.

All I know if / when we get R... My neighbors are going to complain because Sarah's tunes is going to be bumping loud as soon as the disc loads up.

What yo? Sarah's vf3 was one of her best, imo. 5's the worst. 5R though, Sarah just got mad love in that game now, since she got so mistreated in vanilla theme and skills.

I can't get enough of VF5R Snow Mountain, it owns my soul.

I very much liked VF5's soundtrack. I think VF5R is just as good.

I totally agree, Shag /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif What I meant by that comment was that I still feel the VF5 Snow Mountain theme is perhaps better. I didn't mean the new one is bad, in fact, later in that reply I stated that it's really good /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif But I feel undecided atm...I might end up liking the new one better, who knows :p

imo best song in vanilla 5 is Jeffry's, the stage too. Also honorable mention to the select screen, and the customization room song.

I too have listened to the tracks of VF5R and I have a few things to say on it as well.

Akira: Umm this one is just... wow they should have stuck to that calm tune that had going in 5. This one is just annoying to listen to for some reason, not a good song for a Akira stage.

Aoi: This has become one of my favorite R tunes, the whole slow piano tune fits the stage perfectly. I never cared for the 5 Aoi tune anyway but I like the new song better.

Brad: Big improvement over the 5 track, this one gives that funky jazz vibe which fits Brad's personality just right. Well done on this one AM2.

Dural: To be honest I found the original 5 track to be superior to the R version. I guess the organs grew on me because the R version just sounds like a generic rock song with guitar riffs.

Eileen: Wow I'm impressed with this track, while they kept that "India" feel to the song they sped it up and gave it a much catchier tune. Definatly one of my favs and a big improvement over 5's tune.

El Blaze: Ugh too much guitar not enough beat. I think AM2 should have pulled a DOA track with this stage mainly their "Zany Zapper" track fits more than this new R track.

Goh: The new track fits Goh more "evil" nature then the original version. And for once the heavy metal track works for me.

Jacky: I like the new track but I also liked the old 5 track as well. They are about the same to me with R being a slight improvement just because its new I guess.

Jean: Too cliche death metal, I honestly don't like too much guitar in my songs and wouldn't you know it...

Jeffery: I enjoyed both of his tracks however I will give the edge to R just because it has that little "xylophones" melody in it, which is slightly better than 5's melody.

Kage: I prefer the 5 version over the R version. The R version just sounds like random beats with Japanese flutes thrown in it. I much prefer 5's techno track over R.

Lau: Should have remixed another Shenmue song, the old 5 one was a remix of the Yellow Head Building.

Lei Fei: The R version is definatly more suited for fighting than the old calm Chinese tune they had. I like both though...

Lion: Well this is the song they should have used for Dural's final boss theme. It sounds like a creepy dramatic song but it doesn't fit Lion's personality like the 5 track did.

Pai: To me Pai usually had the best tracks throughout the VF series (as much as I dislike the character). I'd say her R track is MUCH better than her 5 track. While 5 sounded like a calm Chinese tune the R track is much more suited for fighting.

Sarah: I didn't care for her 5 track but I will say they did improve on her song in R. If you listen close you can still here the Aurora theme but with a calmer tune and guitar they throw in there is nice. Also the beginning of the song uses the melody from Outrun 2's "Life was a Bore" song.

Shun: I enjoyed the 5 track better than the new R track. R has a faster tempo then the original but I found 5 had a more catchy melody.

Taka: I like Taka's stage and the music compliments it with that Japanese flute and chants they have going in the background.

Vanessa: Sounds more like Brazil which fits Vanessa nicely. Its better than her old Waterfall theme.

Wolf: Here's a fan favorite. I like both the old and R tracks but the new R track is nice. Just the right amount of guitar and melody. Plus the snowstorm compliments the stage so well now. The best song in R IMO

I completely agree with this. Wolf, jacky, eileen, akira (although I liked 5s better) are my favorite tracks in R. The shun one has grown on me too but I think 2 has the best shun stage melody.

I'm Hoping they include the ability to change the BGM's during the character/stage selection if it comes to console. a lot of the new stuff doesn't really stand out all that much to me.

from what Ive played, ( vf1,2,3,4:Evo & 5 of course /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif ) vf2 still has the best soundtrack.
