VGxpo Nov 21st-23rd - $500 to 1st

The VGxpo will be running from November Friday the 21st to Sunday the 23rd. Paul has asked me to run some tournaments. I will be running 4 tournaments separated into 2 tournaments a day. All tournaments will be singles only since the Expo closes at 7pm Sat and 5pm Sunday

Directions and location of the VGxpo venue:

in terms of getting to the convention center its quite easy. Its on Arch street between 11th and 13th.

If you are taking the bus to Philly take the china town bus. It will take you to the Philly station which is only a few blocks from the center.

Same for people taking the train. You'll be dropped off near the Market East station, take the exit and you should be on market street. walk west to 13th street then north till you hit arch st.

Sunday, Nov 23rd
Virtua Fighter 5 - Xbox 360
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection - PS3

All tournaments will start at 1pm on their specific day.

Venue fee for entering the VGxpo is $25(online registration) or $30(at the door) for a 3 day pass.

There is a prize of $500 guaranteed for first place in each game. Pot for each game is $5 and will be broken down between 2nd(70% pot) and 3rd(30%). The %'s can change however depending on the number of participants.

1st - $500
2nd - 70% of pot
3rd - 30% of pot

Other information.

Feel free to bring extra equipment(TVs, consoles, copies of games) to help make the tournament move along quicker.

I need final confirmation from paul about getting a decent venue entry fee from the people running the expo first. As it stands it will cost like $25-35 for one day entree into the Expo. And I'm not really down with that for people coming to just play in a tournament.

Paul gave me a heads up that we now have $500 to 1st for each game at the tournament. He still still working out more details stay tuned.

And I might actually have SC4 and DOA on saturday, then tekken and vf5 on sunday to avoid a console useage conflict

I just had a conference call with the head of the VGXPO and some changes had to be made.

First, I had to drop one game(VF5) because they only had enough $500's prizes to give out since they are running several other tournaments. Smash Bros., Halo, etc.

Second, the pot has been dropped and the $500 will be split 70/20/10 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Instead there is a $10 entry fee in it's place.

50 days to go and I'm still hoping for a strong turnout.

trust me I would like to have ran a vf5 tournament but in terms of giving out limited prize money (which is straight out of the pocket of the guy running the expo) for numbers, honestly, the east coast isn't seem that strong. I will still be running the vf5 and NEC and Winter Brawl.
