Virtua Cop 3

Yup, it's out here in Japan - and it's nothing short of amazing. The graphics are powered by the Chihiro and simply breathtaking - just try not to be amazed at the huge glass structure you see at the beginning of the first stage that you eventually shoot down to have it smash into pieces. And you'll notice that you leave detailed bullet holes everywhere you shoot. Nice touch! The new ES Mode that allows you to slow the action down temporarily is a great addition, too. Finding and learning to use it stategically adds a lot of discovery and replay value. Even the story and characterization are heads and shoulders above the competition. AM2, you've redefined a genre yet again.

If your arcade gets VC3, hope it's the big-screen version - a game this gorgeous deserves to have as large and detailed an image as possible.

BTW, as much as I tend to dislike pointless crossovers (Shenmue charas in VF = big fat no, don't even START it again), I'd be a happy little demon if Vanessa was hidden and playable. She'd fit right in without a hitch. Put her and Janet on a team together. XD

Ah cool found the link not too long ago on Sega's site. Too bad our arcade recently got Time Crisis 3 - no chance of VC3, at least not for a long time.

 

It took me literally years to decipher what the first boss in VC1 was saying.
Its: I give up, I give up, you wouldnt shoot a man withouth weapons.
He says that right before he draws a handgun and you have to hit him one final time.

Aaah.
Those were the days my friend, we tought they never end.
We played and played, forever and a day.

 

I saw some of the mission-end bosses in action today for the first time. Damn, the boss fights are sweet. The choreography and settings are straight out of adrenaline action movies. The first stage boss is a ninja-type character who disappears and reappears with a really neat distortion effect. The second stage boss is an absolute riot - his name is "Brand" and see like like what would happen if Dante and Brad were combined on Conan O' Brien's "If they Mated" bit. I have to wonder if the design was intentional. XD

I saw a guy finish the game playing with a gun in each hand.
He only made 2 mistakes in the whole game, he shot a civilian with his right hand and lost a life with his left hand!
