I'm surprised I haven't seen a topic about this yet (or maybe there is just don't see it?).

Virtua Fighter 2...on iPhone, I don't know what to say other than, "WTF Sega..." haha, that is all.

At least we know that Sega has not forgotten Virtua Fighter for a home console [IMG]

The same version(but with button controls like the xbox emu)is on PSP as part of the Sega Mega drive collection; and the compendium is £8 from PSN.

It is one of those collections I occasionally consider buying, but always stop at the last second; I'd sooner pay a lot more for any proper (arcade) version of VF(£25) to sit along side my copy of Tekken 2 and Soul Calibur Broken Destiny; that work so well on my PSP Go.

Ideally Sega might see Neo Geo station doing well in the double dip department for PSP & PS3 and decide to offer something similar on 360/PS3/PSP/3DS.

I just imported a HRAP v3 SA this week to re-kickstart playing more VF5 this year, so even a good version of an older VF to use with it would be great; particularly as VF4Evo can't see the joystick on my old backwards compatible PS3 (@ firmware 3.15); even though other fightsticks still work.

Is the iphone powerful enough for a port of NiGHTS? And i mean proper NiGHTS, as in the saturn version.

In fairness though, a lot of that isn't interactive real-time rendering on the iPhone; but I agree, even the 1st gen iPhone (using a PowerVR MBX lite GPU) can push around 4.5 million polygons/sec fully fragment shaded.

That should be more than enough to cover the 0.5Million Quads/sec(~1million polygons) capabilities of the Saturn (that doesn't fragment shade), to run proper conversions of Saturn games.

Sega being stupid again? No surprise there. I'd support it just to show there is a potential audience for VF in the states but...

    A. I don't have a iPhone
    B. The Genesis port? Really?!

    Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid!

I bought Infinity Blade... while the game does get a little boring if you play it for a long period of time. It definitely showcases what the iPhone is capable of and I'm sure it can easily handle a port of VF2 and Nights very easily.

Sega is still being run by monkeys... here's to hoping some apes or baboons get promoted. Maybe they will have better ideas than the monkeys.

I agree. And you just made me think, is Super Monkey ball on the iphone? It makes too much sense to not be.

Super Monkey Ball was a release title for the original iPhone.

Speaking of monkeys and the genius behind the release of Genesis VF2 for iPhone, the old saying of a million monkeys with a million typewrites producing the works of Shakespeare, given enough time, comes to mind.

So maybe those monkeys just need a little more time? [IMG]

So, I actually bought the game. My masochistic side, which I imagine is inherent to any VF fan, wouldn't let me not buy it, and it has me playing more than I should. For now.

It's almost unforgiveable to think that for some people, this may be their first, and guaranteed last, introduction to the VF series.

I'm desperately trying to find one good thing to say about this game. In looking at the in game options, I saw the sound test and thought, "hey, this might be fun" but the optimism turned into anger when I found that they don't even work. I mean, they even let you highlight the damn sound test options, almost in a teasing way ("you want this?"), but when you try to select it you get a big fat nothing ("well, you can't have it!")

The controls are maddening. I find doing "while crouching" moves extremely difficult but I have to ask if Kage's knee is even in this game? I can't do it no matter how girly I cry. TFT, P, PPPK is about all that's manageable for me, and ol' faithful PK (knockdown) 66K (sweep) still works. Hey SEGA, a fucking movelist for this abortion of a port would make people HATE you less. Unless, of course, your ultimate goal was for everyone to HATE you, then consider this a roaring success.

Anyways, I fucked around with Akira some. Not sure if I was seeing things, but Single palm against a croucher produced a butt stagger. P+K+G produced a stun palm, but fucked if I'm going to try an actual SPOD on that retarded horizontal button layout.

I mean, sure, don't add anything extra to the port. But not even removing features ALREADY IN THE GAME you don't plan on being accessible? C'mon! That's bordering on false advertising, not to mention cock teasingly wrong.

I would really like to find the person who approved the business decision to go ahead and port this. I just want to know one thing: why?

The world isn't really this cruel, is it? Surely this is just a pre-cursor to something great! Remember when Capcom re-did the old 2d Bionic Commando as a lead in to the launch of 3d Bionic Commando (man, I was so hype for that, shame the game had issues). Maybe SEGA will surprise us in a similar way?
