TK4 actually didn't sell as well as VF4 did, for a (refreshing) change. Keep this in mind.

    Go AM2!

Mortal kombat? That game is still around? Tells you what the American Gaming Public knows about video games.

Actually, TK4 has sold about 100,000 copies more than VF4 (in the U.S.), and TK4 has only been on sale since September. The price drop as a result of the greatest hits designation has helped VF4 sales recently, but it still lags behind.

Incidentally, MK4 dogs them both pretty soundly, as it has already sold 1 million copies since its release, almost twice as many copies as TK4. For the American consumer, it's style over substance every time.

Sorry Bl3h, I don't have the lastest TRSTS in front of me, so I can't give you an exact number per console until Monday.

As for the quality of the game, well, I've played it a bit (my company tends to buy every major game that comes out), and I agree with you that it is something different, although personally, being different holds no value. As far as my opinion on the game, I think it's just as horrendous as the others. Truly a terrible, terrible game. The characters models are alright, but the gameplay is as broken as ever. I especially like the 1-move infinites. /versus/images/icons/crazy.gif

piccolo yes I would say pretty easy. Li Mei has one involving nothing but one of her kick moves (I'm sorry I can't identify the exact move, as it's been a while since I've touched the game).

I don't think Midway has ever fooled itself into thinking it was making a serious fighting game series; frankly I doubt they know or care what even goes in to making one. They sell this series on the fluff, and they just got lucky with MK2 - which honestly is only remotely passable because they reduced the game to such a uniform order that only a handful of things break.

As for the TRSTS, I can only find the November one, which shows only MK's first month of sales (200,000 copies on the PS2, 100,000 on the XBOX, 38,000 on the GC). I have to make one correction, though. According to the TRSTS, VF4 and TK4 have sold about the same number of copies, with less than 50,000 copies separating the two (again as of November). Of course, VF4 came out in March, and TK4 came out in September, so it's still a bit early to tell how long TK4's legs are. The price drop, though, is certainly helping their sales, with an astonishing 54,000 copies sold that month (compared to TK4's 72,000). I'll try to post the sales figures through December later this week.

just out of curiosity, where did you get these sales numbers from, website? I would also like to check on sales once in a while to see the industry trends.

The TRSTS are published every month in a spreadsheet form; I'm pretty sure they're not available online. A co-worker of mine happens to acquire them every so often, and he shares them with me.
