You don't register, it's invite only.

Hoping they get dates and locations up for the regionals after this.

What is this? What exactly do the online qualifiers mean, adjacent to this?

WCG, man, this whole process is confusing. I've yet to receive any kind of email or notification after the bracket.

IMO this is appearing to be mad unorganized, and with it not having any set dates, for what happens after(post-bracket), how can anyone schedule or make plans?

They only invited a handful of people, even then it was a first come first serve basis. Some of those who are invited didn't get into the open tournament. I believe there were only 4 open slots.

Winning the weekly qualifiers mean that you get into the Regional Finals. Winning that will net you a spot on the National Finals. The top 2 from the invitationals will immediately qualify for the National Finals. The winner/s of the Nationals will represent the US in Germany.

I agree, it is not very organized. I participated during the early weekly qualifiers, but my current schedule won't allow me to continue. The lack of dates, as mentioned, make it hard to plan for.

Erm OPEN tournament and invite-only are exclusive to each other... They are NOT the same. I hope you guys get a chance to play and not fucked up by bad organising (trust me I have experience of that when it comes to fighting game tournaments)

If it's invite only, I can see them not running VF at all. They'll probably just run Halo, and whatever PC game. And Guitar Hero and whatever the fuck Carom is on the side.

I was gonna go down early and do this, then catch the Kimbo fight with some friends, but I might just skip this and go down later.

I just think it's funny they say WCG OPEN if it's invite only. I'd rather shoot myself in the foot than go watch a bunch of Halo players.

The VF5 invitational tourney will be played on Sunday June 1st at the Samsung Experience store located at the Columbus Circle shopping outlet.

As of two weeks ago the scheduled participants are:

    adamYUKI
    CIDKID
    Shag
    Subbers

This is all the info I have and it is possible to change leading up to the event. I'm hoping to talk to organizers of the event soon for more detail.

So how did you guys get invited then? I know Adam won an online qualifier, and all of you are good players, but how do they know that?

They went on here and talked to the mods. The mods sent them lists of players worthy of invites. Numerous invites were sent, but only the first 4 to reply got in.

When I got my invite I was so excited I didn't read the whole email and didn't realize I was suppose to reply to it, so I K.O.'ed myself from being on the list. I mean WTF if it's special invite and you invited me and I am participating why would I not want to be apart of it? Oh well, hopefully they let me in on Sunday. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif Denkai did the same thing too. Special invite + failed to reply = tHe PiTs /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I got the e-mail and replied as soon as I finished reading, but it was still too late. It's stupid that they're limiting it to 4 players. That's not a tournament in my book, more like an exhibition. Oh well.

So are you guys showing up just for the heck of it?

Yeah they told me to come down in case someone doesn't show... I suggest anyone interested should head down that day as well. Maybe the crowd could sway them to make it a real tournament.

Shame it's NY peeps only but makes sense with the short notice.

That's exactly what it is, a publicity exhibition. We should just be grateful that while the game is getting exposure, we'll have actual skilled players representing it.

This does not sound like a tournament..

That's because it's not a tournament. It's at some Samsung tech expo, so the "tournament" will probably boil down to those guys matching up in a 4 man single elim bracket, and hopefully on a big ass screen. Then they'll devote 10 times more coverage to the Halo players, but at least we get something.
