With the WCG VF5 Online events finished up. Can someone set up a mini(or big) gathering for the VF5 Finalists?

This will be my 1st visit to NYC and can't wait to play Nyers in their home turf.

If all goes as planned, I'll be in NYC from September 24th thru September 28th.

Also, the WCG US Finals will be held here:

Well, if this is anything like previous WCG years they are going to set us all up at a hotel, so the best place to get together would be there. (Actually, if this is anything like previous years, they're going to stick the VF players in two to a room, so we'll get to hang out with each other whether we like it or not. ;P) Only problem is, I don't know about you guys, but I still haven't been forwarded the hotel information. I assume that'll be sent soon since we're getting close to the event, but you never know with WCG...

Hey guys,
is anyone going to book the flight?

The event is from 25th to 27th so I'm planning to arrive at NY on 24th and leave on 28th. And I'm wondering is there anyone doesn't mind if I bother his place on 24th? I'll appreciate that and hopefully someone can guide me on those days coz I have no idea about damn NYC!!
Btw, which airport I should reach in NY?

I've had to deal with the whole flying into a city for the first time alone thing several times at this point, and my advice is to not sweat it. WCG will be providing free hotel rooms from the 24th to 27th. All you really need to do is get a cab to the hotel and you're set.

Also, I would recommend flying out in the late evening on the 27th. If you stay the extra night you will have to pay for a very expensive hotel room. Anyway, nothing much really happens on the last day other then the closing ceremony and handing out of the stipends, and that's all wrapped up by the afternoon.

Oh, and La Guardia is the closest airport to the hotel.

One quick question, does the $250 subsidy include hotel or not?
Is WCG going to pay me exactly $250 even no matter what kind of transportation I take or I have to provide the receipt of the flight? I just check the flight two ways from SF to La Guardia and it costs $255, which means I use all the credit already. Btw, do you guys know how much for the cab from La Guardia airport to the hotel??

I see. I should book the flight earlier coz right now the price has increased. Shit!!
Btw, which hotel are we heading to? And what time will you guys arrive there?

I just realize $250 is not enough for covering all the transportation fee.....shit....

Hey guys, one serious question!!
How many people are going to WCG this year? And who is going to be the host just like LA did last year?

Well, based on the last year, I prefer not to stay in the building all day long this time. Actually it's kinda boring.....
I'm wondering is anyone would like to hang out? Of course we can have dinners during those days but if I have a chance, I hope I can go out somewhere on Friday night and Saturday!!! To be honest, it's out of my budget and I don't want to spend about $200(even more) only on VF. Any plan do you have NYC crews?? I need some motivation to join this event!!!

Heh, I made that mistake a few times myself. This time I booked my tickets two months in advance and used frequent flyer miles to cover part of the cost, so I'm flying for cheap.

Here is the hotel info from the packet:

Park Central New York Hotel (between 56th and 55th Street on 7th Avenue)
870 7th Avenue
New York, NY 10019

You did get the confirmation e-mail with the packet attached right? The deadline for sending in the response to that e-mail is only two days away.

There were 12 qualified people for VF5, but both AdamYuki and Yousuke had to drop out, so we're down to 10. They should be replaced with alternates, but we have no way of knowing who they will be at this point.

I don't exactly know how things went down last year, but why did you need a "host"? Was he taking responsibility for keeping track of everyone and coordinating communications? If we want to keep in touch, all the VFDC players could just exchange cell phone numbers. That's how we did it when I went to WCG 2007 for DOA4.

Well, the whole thing will take place at a huge anime convention, so I imagine there will be tons of stuff to do there if you're a Weeaboo like me. [IMG] Other than that, it's New York City for Christ's sake. How can you be concerned about having nothing to do? :p Anyway, I'm up for hanging out anytime, but I'll probably want to spend most of my time at the convention.

Also, I have a question of my own to ask to anyone who's planning on going. Is anyone else planning on bringing a 360 and a copy of VF5 with them? I usually bring my 360 with me for practice, and for hotel room gatherings, but since I have to pack a rather large joystick this time, and there are plenty of people going who already live in New York and would have a much easier time transporting stuff, I'd like to know if we could get at least two people committed to brining their 360s so I don't have to. :p

Thanks for the info man!!!
I just booked my flight and I'll report to WCG asap.
Well, I was considering a lot coz the money issue was much more than I expected. I hope NYC crews won't disappoint me!!!!

Flash, I'm also wondering can you pick me up when I get the airport? My flight schedule is at 10:30PM and I think I might be able to walk out of the terminal about 11:00PM. Please let me know if you can make it and I'll really appreciate that!!

I'll be arriving around 1:30PM myself. If anyone want to pick me up, or share a cab if they are flying into La Guardia at a similar time, that'd be greatly helpful.

Hmm. wait I was wrong, actually there were only 10 qualifiers...

3. Denkai

6. adamYUKI
7. CIDKID
8. Ninjimbo
9. Konjou Akira
10. Rayblade

As I said earlier, Yohsuke and adamYUKI are out, so there will be two players added from the roster of players who performed well in the qualifiers. I'd say Dr. Dogg is a safe bet for one spot since he lives in New York and has some contacts at the WCG. No idea who will get the final spot though.

Should I reply the email with W-9 form? Or just bring it when I arrive at the event?

I already asked them that. You just have to bring it with.
