What do you like to do when you dodge with Shun?

i'm part of the bangkok vf crew. we usually play about once a week. i don't own the game myself.

i do dodge a lot against almost every character i play against. most of the time, by reflex, i do shun's p+k dodge attack. i really haven't gotten used to the command input of the p+k+g, p and p+k+g,k dodge attacks, but i'd like to know some opinions about those 2 options. i try to also switch it up with the k+g or throw after a successful dodge.

i'm still getting used to his new stance. the p+k sabaki from it is great, and i always go for the k,k,p on the resulting crumble. is that the best thing to do ya think?

my habit when there is distance between my opponent and myself is to take a drink with p+k+g, but i'm thinking i need to just go df+p,b and go for the 2 drinks more often. which method do you shun players out there use more often to get drinks? i mean, if someone comes running at me and i'm in SOU, am i in trouble or do i have decent defensive options?

the OM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (offensive move) is good for side hits, which causes a side crumple for a juggle (i do the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif_/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and it typically hits). the OM itself is good for dodging a linear attack, but i haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet.

i think so. plus, at 16+ dp you get the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif for better dmg.

i usually go for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif drink as it goes undre high attacks and you can get tack on the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, which is safe on block, but i only get on accident when trying for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, which is even safer on block. i go for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif drinks when i know i got space.

    Hey Jimmy,

I tend to use OM P when there's a gap between me and my opponent (enough space that an elbow might whiff--I would say sidekick range), and I'm at a small advantage, like +1 or +2. These are situations created with certain attacks and the idea is that you could exploit your opponent's instinct to do low punch or high punch here. If you do OM P right and to the correct side, their punch should whiff and you should hit them. However, you can get hit if they delay, throw (I think), or do a slower attack (including a launcher). With Shun, I'm not sure which attacks set this up. Is a gap created if you hit with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif? I can't remember.

The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif sabaki from Back-Turned SOU is really great /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif And I do try to drink while going into BT SOU when I'm far away from the opponent (when I'm up close, I cancel the drink usually since I'm going for sabaki or sweep right away in that situation).

My weak Shun's main source of drinks is still /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif --> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, at the sacrifice of the damage I could get with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif --> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (whiff) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif --> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. And also setting up creative ways to do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif throw, but... I know you're playing against Tii, and if you play against Tii, I don't think he'll ever let you get away with that throw. Maybe only if you run up and throw him when he isn't expecting it, but I am sure he's always entering the escape for that throw.

In fact, Tii probably makes it very hard for you to even use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif!!!

I also like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif sometimes as well as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif from outside of sidekick range. If opponent makes the mistake to whiff an attack when you take a normal drink from outside of sidekick range, you might be able to hit them with some attack like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif chouwan.

Again, my Shun is weak... But I think it's great you have players like T^5 around you, I know he doesn't let you get away with much.

But my understanding about Shun is that he can be played really well defensively, and because of that, he can create space for himself to take drinks while the opponent worries about messing up their attacks against Shun.

Moves like the BT SOU Sabaki and Low Sweep alone can be a bit scary. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is a great move. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif can be very annoying for the opponent. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is also irritating for the opponent (gotta love a full circular poke with setup potential).

Shun is able to consistantly run away and bait the opponent to attack and punish them for it. When they hesitate to attack, you should easily have the option to drink and still be somewhat safe. At least that's how I see Shun. I also assume you are drinking whenever you win the round.
