I Remember when VF5 first came out, they had a video section. Then some time around the release of Version B, it dissappeared. Does anybody know why?

I recall they were told to take them down. Also, with the popularity of YouTube, it's hard to justify the expense of hosting movies on a private server.

As shitty as YouTube videos can be I wish HK.VF.net would come back, but I understand the expense factor. You just want some of your classic battles to be of the best quality possible and if nothing else HK.VF.net was High Quality.

The webmaster decided to discontinue the video section as it was too time consuming for him to maintain, and he wasn't receiving any help. It was also chewing up more bandwidth than expected, and those who were around then may recall the transition from hosted media (easily downloadable) to streaming (not-so-easily downloadable).

His daily maintenance routine usually consisted of:

1. Surf many Japanese VF websites and BBS for any match videos
2. Download the video
3. Watch the video
4. Note the players names and characters
5. Upload and post the video to hk-vf.net webserver

If the entire process above, for a single video, required approx. 10-20 minutes, and at the rate videos were being released back then, you can start to imagine just how demanding this would be on anyone's time.
