What is Kage's 1+P useful for?

    I've been really curious about kage's hook punch, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. It seems to me just like the regular /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif without a whole lot of difference. Does it have any special properties that I'm not aware of?

    It's good 12i high punishment. Does as much damage as a heavy-weight /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (37 on mC). (or am I full of shit... Myke? Verify?)

    I think it also floats the opponent higher off /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif.

    I do mention that the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif does more damage than regular /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, so you can infer the greater guaranteed damage. But the downside to using this as a guaranteed counter attack is that you can't (obviously) "hold forward" like you can with regular punches for additional range. So, the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is quite limited in that regard and I think there are situations where it misses due to the lack of range.

    I don't think it floats any higher after a TFT either. That is, I've not come across a combo that requires a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif where a normal /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif would fail, due to lack of height.

    I see it used for OMGWTFBBQ ring outs over short walls, where I never see /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif being using.

    i did some playing around in dojo mode, and it looks like it's also a half circular move, depending on which arm is in the lead. Maybe useful as a combo starter against an opponent when you're expecting a DM.

    It's half circular property should have been apparent on the VFDC command list.

    Not exactly sure what combo you're hoping to start with it though? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Sorry Myke too lazy to check command list properties. Not thinking for combos maybe an inside mix up for people who like to evade alot cause I'm assuming its quicker then most other half circle Kage moves.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif on hit Shippuujin might be an idea thou, if you hit someone on evade how much a disadvantage for them is it for a unsuccessful evade (if so if its possible for an effective Shippuujin game)?

    EndCA, my reply wasn't directed at you, so no apology necessary! Murder_Material mentioned that after "playing around in dojo" did he happen across this property. For lazy people, going to the command list would have been much easier to find this out!

    To answer your question, the disadvantage from hitting out of a failed evade would be the same as on normal hit.
