what is your ethnicity?

So when looking at the NYC event pictures, i couldn't help but notice how many of our top players in this community are african american. I was honestly surprised. I was wondering if people woudldn't mind sharing their ethnicity. I was wondering if there are any trends to this.
Personally i'm white. Some german and irish. Although, i'm really all american. If u meet me, u'd just think i'm a white dude. If anybody feels uncomfortable with this, sorry.

white as they come. distant ancestry comes from all parts of europe (britain, ireland, finland, sweden, germany, france, italy) and i end up being 6' 2" with blond hair and blue eyes.

Black.. i'm from West Africa.. Ghana.. now in New Jersey..

 

Excuse me if I offend anyone but, as a foreigner to this country, the whole "african american" thing sounds so silly to me! If white people are not called "european-americans", why do black people get called like that? It tries so hard to be "politically correct" (rolls eyes) that it ends up being annoying, at least to me.
Again, I hope nobody feels offended by this, I just don't get it...

I've always wondered the same thing.

Also, did you guys know that Hispanic is not technically a race?(at least by some people's interpertation) I work as a project corrdinator for a social science research firm- we do surveys for various government agencies. Race is a typical question asked for most surveys we do----but if a person answers "Hispanic" - often our interviewers have to probe "In addition to being Hispanic, what race are you?"

My chinese friend doesnt think Filipino's are asian, he thinks that they are pacific islanders.

And yes im aware filipinos have chinese ancestry, as well as spanish and indigenous blood.

 

Of course hispanics are not a race.... the term "hispanic" refers to those from spain(espana). Latino would be a better term to use. All the mexicans I know refer to themselves as Chicano or Xicano.
