really dont care all that much, I just saw some stuff on the web that said she was A tier in version c, so I just wanted to know what she was in b

also on a side note, is OS completely usless, or in DS just THAT much better?

Vanessa is alternately ranked as either S or high A tier in Ver.C, depending on who you ask. I think she was generally considered S in Ver.B, that is, she didn't really move much.

OS is definitely not useless. I think lots of the most vocal players who post in the forums here, also tend to be the players who prefer DS, therefore there's more info about DS around. It's also arguably true that DS is better if you try to stick to only using one stance exclusively. That said, using both stances is better than just choosing one, regardless.

To my knowledge, there was two tier lists released for version A/B (both from Tougeki). Both listed Vanessa as A tier.

I use both stances but there's no question DS is my main one. I actually enjoy OS more but I find myself losing *a lot* more if I base my strategy around it... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Vanessa's weakness is that going from one style to the other, she loses some advantages the other style has. In DS, on neutral, she has a fist catch. In OS, she has the Intruder Step and Tackle. So you have to chose for the given situation.

OS isn't useless, but it's slower and more methodical. Thus it's not as fancy. I prefer OS.

OS is slower? o_O Her normal punch in DS is 12 frames.. You may think that hey, shes got /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif but in fact thats about the only thing and it has such short range that its only useful as reverse nitaku in specific situations. (She looks like shes punching her own nose, truthfully)

Tbh I have never liked playstyle that sticks to one stance only, as she can now flow quite freely between the stances. She can for instance do a OS combo that involves stanceswitch so that she can use DS okizeme with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif etc.

Now, now, manji, no hating please, you don't see vanessa players going around calling akira's ballet dancing moves names. Although i also find her [8] [K] animation funny (context note: i'm greek) :X3:

Other than that i totally agree with you: it's a reverse nitaku tool people, not a jab. The frames certainly are not the +2 on block/+8 on CH type.

    Sebo no love for [6] [6] [K] or [4] [K] + [G] ? The DM lancer?! You list the unsafe [4] [3] [P] + [K] - i supose for it's tech crouching capabilities - but how about the [9] [K] + [G] as a low killer?

It seems there's really no consensus as far as OS is concerned...

OS is both faster and less methodical then DS.

I don't get why people think DS is so free and "non methodical". Punishment and nitaku isn't very good, and she can struggle often when she has small advantage in DS that you have to really play virgin pussy tight to get it all together if you're going for a DS only playstyle.

OS, due to the fact that she has far better basic tools as well as more offensive options, range and damage gives you more freedom in move selection.

woah, helpful info about understanding an important difference between her two stances that the idiot below me (who has no idea what he's saying right now) will never understand.

From my experience, DS is quicker, it has more moves to interrupt a fast combo during the combo... OS is slower to get a combo going in comparison, but once it gets going, it's pain time...

That's why I mix both, any player, no matter how dense, will figure out all of your moves within one fight if you use just one style... As has been said before, she is almost like being two different characters... Show your hand, then hit them in the back of the head with the other hand...
