Ok ive been thinking for a while now how cool it would be to have a London VF5 RB, it seems like a good time to have one, with the new players starting and what not. I know theres online play and online tourneys but a meet and greet would be nice. I know that with online play a lot of you guys play each other regularly so maybe a meet up wouldnt have to be so often.

If anyone else thinks this is a decent idea and would like to point me in the direction of making it happen that would be great.

    discuss and thanks in advance.

London, England I take it you mean?

I've often wondered myself what the London scene is like, but just because I don't know about doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

I'm curious to know where london players (or more widely, British players, or players in Britain and around London) would go to get a tournament or meet-up, and I'm interested in seeing and experiencing this scene.

Are there any players that play in the Trocadero @ Leicester Sqaure? Are there even a VF cabinets there? I will have to investigate this further myself.

I hear there's a few machines in London and there's enough players that live there to sort it out. Maybe someone from London could host it from their house?

We just need the players and somewhere to play, i'm pretty far from London but i'd be up for it.

    Hi there

The problem that the London VF scene has is there is no simply no place to play VF. No venue or someone can't accommodate players. London Trocadero has VF5 but they have it set to £1 a credit, naturally this has put the players off because the price per play is too steep, and yes various London heads have tried talking to management about getting the price changed, but talking to the staff and management that work there is like talking to a brick wall.

The UK has players that will travel to London to play VF like myself, I come from Reading and have come to a majority VF meets. Rayne who lives even further than me has come to a few VF4 EVO RB's at E-zone. LM Akira, Slim Adey, EV2 from the north have come to RB's and Gamers Day.

The Players will come it's just where to play and who will organize. I've said this to many players if there is anything I can do to help aside from host then I will help.

But yeah I hope some offline event crops up soon I'm starting to get fed up with laggy matches and seeing Grey bars a good portion of the time.

Me too. I couldn't possibly host as I don't have the space for that, or the TVs, numerous game consoles, etc. But i'm willing to help a scene get established.

I reckon those VF cabinets don't make more than 20 pounds a day on a weekend day. That means the managers SHOULD be happy to leave us the cabinets with freeplay if we paid them 40 pounds. Which would be 5 pounds per person if we are in 8, 2.50 if we are 16.
But I'm pretty sure they'll never understand.

Because of this, we'd need somebody with a house/flat that can host people. London would be the most logical venue.

Ive heard about those VF4 RBs at E-zone but those were before I really started getting into the fighting game scene. Is E-zone still a possible venue. I dont know what that place is like. If i could host one myself I would but I cant ._.

btw I should of said yes its London England im talking about :)

Yeah and id like to think if someone could host then they would.
I dont have the room to host so im trying to see what I can do to run a RB.

It just feels like im waiting for something to happen when I could be doing something to help.

I meet up with friends to play this semi regularly but only one of us has enough room for 5 or 6 people. Even then it's a bit cosy.

It would be cool if anyone has a place big enough for more.

Can someone suggest how I can get in contact with ezone?
I have no idea what that place is like. I tried googling it but no luck.

We were able to use E-zone for the VF4 Evo ranking battles because Hatim (The Prince/Ikap Killa) was a partner for that venue but he has since split and left the place now. I'm not 100% on this info as I remember reading this info in one of UK VF threads ages ago. I don't even know if E-zone still exists anymore. Can one of the regular London VF heads cofirm all of this?

Then you're underestimating the time and space you need to run an RB.

I host GG RBs and have done so for over a year now. I run 2 setups and the reason it works in Manchester is because there are only around 10/11 "local" GG players (by local I generally mean north west, tho occasionally we have people travel from Leeds or Cleethorpes to play for example). Asides from Manchester and London, there don't seem to be man serious GG players in the UK (bar a few dotted around the map) it's a niche title in some ways which is why RBs can be hosted by an individual.

I run 3S RBs in the local arcade as it is just not feasible for me to host them (our lowest turn out has been 10 players so far but biggest was around 15, besides you always get people watching or entering on the day, this obviously doesn't happen if someone is hosting an RB). Arcade is always best for these things anyway.

I did use to host sessions and events in the Evo days in Manchester and the reason that worked was again because we had a relatively small number of players attending (7-9 max).

To hold a VF5 RB in London now would ideally require some kind of function/conference room booking...the amount of UK players that have now popped up on xbox live is quite staggering in a way (considering there were prob around 30 or so actual serious VF players in the Evo days) especially the number of UK players on here. So I'm sure a London RB would have a good turn out, not only from the old vet players but the newer generation who've got the game recently on xbox.

We would need someone to take the bull by the horns and get behind VF5 RBs happening in London again. It takes time, effort and dedication for events like this to take place. You need someone to get stuck in and drive this.

I would like to start something similar in Manchester as we now currently have around 6/7 VF players again. Not as much as the old days but definitely a start.

I think you are probably best to try and set something up in the midlands.

I'm in Glasgow and would love to participate in some offline games but travelling all the way to London is costly and terribly time consuming.

Best bet (in my opinion) is Birmingham.

We could even leech off of a Halo tournament that gets held in Birmingham every few months.

Meet up at the arena and set up in a hotel or such. There are plenty of other gamers floating about many of whom I know I could entice into playing some VF.

Creepy, I'm aware but it seems slightly less creepy than going to a strange guys house.

Either way I'm all for it.

    ?

    RB = Ranking Battle

Usually a series of small tournaments in which people gain points for the matches they win and become ranked in an overall league table.

Are people form the UK still interested?

After checking UK gamertags we have over 60 UK players.

There were some nice matches going down on the casuals at SVB over the weekend.

Private Ryan, ZeroEX, Hatim, Shoju, ElectricLeo, Howl, zer0kage were there, even Ryan Hart had a couple of games.

A proper offline event could go down well.

I won't lie I actually forgot about SVB 2008. I haven't visited Neo-Empire web site for a long while. I've been aching to go to an offline VF casual meet and I missed one of the only chances to play VF offline this year.

I will definitely come to the next Neo-empire event for some casuals.
