Whats a good starting attack for a match?

Like if you want to attack right off the back?

And also I have played alot of ppl onlion mainly Shun and Lion players who attack with a low or high punch over and over but its so fast if you drop your guard you will be hit how do you counter this

 

If they low punch over and over, block one and then elbow immediately after -- if they try to low punch again, you will always hit them. Lau also has one of the best low crushes in the game in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. It will "jump" low punches and slam on hit allowing for a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif follow up.

If they high punch a lot, you can /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif them (on CH, the follow up /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is guaranteed) or you can sabaki (reverse/deflect) high punches with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (after a successful sabaki against most characters you can bounce them with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and tack on /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. )

Starting matches off: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, back dash, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif -- I'm sure there are others, but this is what I use for my semi-mashin' Lau.

 

I tried the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif but seems its to slow to get off on any one the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is good but I found out the second kick isnt guaranteed. It can be ducked. The first kick ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif) is good thought because its drops Lau and you can duck a High attack for a CH

 

Try /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif it goes under high attacks, crumbles on counter hit and it's pretty safe on guard.

Ok what about a good way to snuff /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. A guy I was playing a minute ago would duck and do that every time but like as soon as I drop my guard he would hit me im guessin a DM would be the only way out

 

The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will work once you begin using those anti-/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif tools.

The second /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is guaranteed if the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif lands on a CH. If you get a normal hit or they block, they can duck and 0 frame throw.

Totally forgot about /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to go under highs. This will work with everyone (accept maybe HWs):

Also, you've been using the dark arrows, which indicate holding the direction. Unless the move calls for it, we generally use the white arrows which indicates tapping the direction. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Oh Yeah SweepTheLeg thanks I just realized I was using dark arrows.
I also just noticed the times I did hit with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif I wasnt getting a CH so yeah they could duck it. The only users giving me a really bad time are Lion and Jacky characters the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is so quick and when I down guard it I cant get out of it to attack and trying to use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif gets me hit with CH and usually a big combo, I just have to learn to work that elbow in or DM

Well, most of the time you can be guaranteed /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif works after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif if you enter it right away. I normally go for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif but I found that whiffs a lot more (one or two punches can miss). I am now going for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif as much as possible since that seems to be a nice slamming chain.

I'll try out the move you suggest and see if I can do it consistently. You're just recommending spacing it out more correct?

I don't whiff with P4PP after a successful 9P-- maybe you're not inputting it fast enough? Buffering?

I found out they can't backdash a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif at the beginning of the round, only crouch backdash. So if they like to start off the round moving away, you can face them with this.
