    Whoever you want.

If you have trouble doing modified moves (like Kage's knee, [3][3][6][K]) stay away from Akira, and be aware Kage and Lau use those motions a lot as well. If you have trouble doing circular motions (like Wolf's [8][4][2][6][P]+[G]) you'll have problems playing Wolf, Aoi and DS Vanessa (MT/OS Vanessa is fine though). If you can't memorize long and complicated move lists, stay away from Vanessa and Lei. That's about all I can think of.

So if you can pull off all the moves in command training mode and all the combos in trial training mode, you're good to go with literally any character. There are no super-weak or super-powerful characters, but it should be obvious that "tricksy" characters like Shun and Aoi will take a little more thought than straightforward characters like Jacky and Akira.

Although it depends on your play style and character preferance, as a beggining player, I would recomend to you Jacky. It's not hard for a new player to pick up Jacky and become quite proficient with him in a short amount of time. Using only his canned strings, you can give the CPU a run for their money, and the more you use him, the more comfortable you will become with the game and it's mechanics, opening the path to more difficult characters.

If you are a "Freshy" to VF then i suggest you pick any charecter and finish Kumite mode, by then you should of unlocked Dural so pick her in vs mode and you will be an unstoppable Freshy /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I would say Jacky also. Lau and Pai seem good starters too. Once u get used to them u can maybe move on too Kage or Lei-Fei maybe. When it comes down to it, Choose who ya think is cool or u like the style of etc. The character will only be as good as u make him/he to be.

Kage is super strong, as is Sarah, though sarah, from my perspective, takes a bit more working to start killing people.

As a somewhat newer player myself I might suggest Jeffry, he has really simple moves and huge damage potential, lacking in speed and defense. What this does is teach you the defensive techniques which I've been told are what the game is won and lost on (evade-double throw escape gaurd for example) since you have nothing else to rely on. He's also a blast to play /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I think that the problem with a new player picking up Jeffry, is that playing him requires you to be much more aware of the recovery time on your moves, and to be better able to force your opponent into 50-50 situations. Don't get me wrong, I love Jeffry as a character, he's one of my best, I just don't feel the aspects of the game which playing him would emphasize, would contribute greatly to the learning of players less familiar with basic game mechanics. I may be wrong, but I still feel that Jacky is a better character for simply being able to pick him up and become effective with in a short amount of time.

I thought Kumite goes on forever?

It does. Ura must have forgotten himself, or rather the game, again (believe me, it's not the first time). Kumite will go on forever, but you will cease to progress in rank once you hit High King. This won't stop you from playing more matches, it just means you won't have anywhere left to go (High King is a very good rank to be at to finish collecting those last few items anyways /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif).

My second question: Who is a good character for a.i. kumite?

A.I is a lot more tricky, because you really have to know how the game works, and then what to teach, and not teach, to your A.I. Your A.I. file should be whichever character you are most comfortable with, so in your case Jacky, but if you want a really good idea of how to train/raise an A.I., check out the great guide ETP wrote on the subject in the Console section of the forums [VFDC CHOICE] Brief A.I. Suggestions (mostly theory). I hope that's the kind of help you were looking for.

I suppose when you get to the highest Emperor rank in kumite mode, that mode is finished. You could pick another charecter and start all over. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
