1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Will we see a North American release of VFEvo?

I was just at another board- Gaming Age exactly. I don't know why I bother as the posters seem to be more concerned about sales figures and virtual tits and ass than anything else. But there was a good discussion there- ABOUT HOW MUCH VF4EVO WOULD SELL. Sales discussions???

Anyway, I posted that we will not see a US release, for reasons such as the Quest mode being based in Japan. It's a stupid reason from a gamers point of view, I know, but the higher brass at SOA has to see this as a huge hurdle. Another reason is that SOA has yet to even announce a NA release, or release date.

Will we see a NA conversion and release? Ever? I personally don't think so. Hopefully I'm wrong.

If a VF4Evo release is not coming to the West it wont be becouse of SoAs doing.
Other forces will be the deciding factor.

    What other forces specifically?

I don't think we'll see a NA release either. Sega will probably be more concerned about their other bigger franchises that's ready to see in light in the US. By the time SOA have taken cared of the more important games for the US market, (sports games, sonic, etc.) vfevo will be a thing of the past. Plus seeing the limited distribution of the VF4evo arcade, I don't think the decision makers at SOA will think a US release to be justified. There will only be two reason why evo will make a US release if it does. One, SOA expects evo to sell as much as the ver C release. Two, recent change of the CEO to the parent company officer just might decide that VF is too important of a franchise to waste. Despite the raves VF4 have received from the press, we have not seen an increase in interest for the game. Oh well, I will be getting the japanese release; but if a NA release ever see the light, I will happily give Sega my money for this amazing game. Seeing how soon the NA ver C was released after the japanese release, the lack of announcement for a US release of evo with the japanese release coming up in a little more than a month makes me pretty confident in my view. We'll see what happens. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

Same sentiments here. I too will get a US/NA version if, and when it's released, even though I'm getting a frickin $250+ import PS2 just for the import version of evo.

What is the probability that evo won't come out in N. America and the rest of the world?

I didn't even think for a second that it wasn't gonna come, but after reading this thread I begin to have my doubts~ =[

almaci's original post tells the truth. Other people besides SOA have to give the game a green light.

    This is stupid, but...

let's make a petition for Evo and Initial D. I'll put my unoptomistic reservations aside and see who I can contact about such possibilities. Time for some emailin'... even though the most likely outcome is zilch, at least I'll sleep well.

Yeah, run that petition through here. I'll sign for sure. Damn that pisses me off...I hope there is a U.S. release.

But to say that the small distribution of Evo machines in the US would be a reason...I disagree. I never say a VF4 machine...NEVER, and SoA still released it in NA. Plus, VF4 sold well over here. Unless SoA (or the evil powers controlling them) has forgetten that, I think that VFEvo just might make it to the states...or at least I hope it does.

If you guys do this, send word to ALL message boards involving VF. There will be a big turnout...hell, VF4 didn't win IGN.com's fighter of the year for nothing. People in the states are starting to get into this game, and they will sign the petition.

Whatever you do, just make sure that the petition is not directed at the hardworking people over at SoA as it wont be in theyre hands and theyve been receiving way too much flak for stuff that was not in theyre hands in the past as well.

VF4 wasn't that popular in NA arcades, but they still released the PS2 version. IMO, there's no reason to panic (yet). If we don't hear any news by at least March/April, then I'll start foaming at the mouth. I'll just wait patiently for the eventual announcement, but I'm willing to sign the petition just in case.

I feel the same way you do Dre. But this excuse does seem to make sense..Gamfaqs Evo Forum

Sony pulls an extreme amount of weight when it comes to game releases. Heck, they pissed off Tekken fans by stalling the release of T4 so they could make as much $$ off of both VF4 and T4. The story here sounds realistic. If so, we have someone to direct the petition towards.

Makes me little difference though. If Sony of America decides to be a bastard and keep Evo from hitting U.S. shores...I'll just get my PS2 chipped and import it. It's worth every penny. Besides, chipping my PS2 would let me get Victorious Boxers as well /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Well Gamespy seems pretty optimistic about evo coming to N.A.

GameSpy's Most Wanted Games of 2003

I believe that evo is #17 on the most wanted console list, they dont got numbers beside em for some reason =P so i just counted down from the Console #11-20 list
