Word of mouth promoting for VF5!

So I go into the game store and hear that someone likes VF or they are pre ordering it for the 360. I talk to them and tell them about my excitement for the game, how me and 1 other guy have the set up, about virtuafighter.com, but in the end I think there not interested in the VF community.

I later came up with an idea that we should issue challenge cards to people. The challenge card would be a business card that would state a challenge to our online name the web site and the thread to find us at.

Personnal Example:

Just an idea. If anyone else has any other idea's for promoting the community we should write them down, and bring the players!!!

I am going to implement it here in the Dominican Republic.

I haven't officially done it yet but the idea has been brewing in my head for a while so I thought that I would write it down and eventually do it. When you do it down there let me know how it works out and if your community grows.
I remember seeing matches of the people in your VF group last year and they were pretty good. If you or any of the people down there have the PS3 be sure to check out the UT matches on the Replay Board Forum. Our seen is fairly new and we have about 4 hardcore VFers. We know that there are more out there so hopefullly this idea will bring in the players!!!

I was reading the So Cal thread, and they had a pretty good point sytem for people that are new to VF5 tournaments. They were trying to figure out how to fairly distribute points to the people that are new to VF or are rejoining it after a few years. If someone from the So Cal crew could explain to me how this works it would be appreciated!

 

We are just figuring this out ourselves. Keep reading the SoCal thread as I am sure that the idea will evolve and become clear to everyone... even us SoCal people.

 

I finally made the challenge cards, nothing fancy like a bussiness card, just the message on a peice of paper.

As of now there are 3 ideas for promoting the game the challenge card, points sytem for tournaments, and a new one I thought of different skill levels for tournaments.

 

Thread bump here. I was in a Game Crazy and I handed them the Challenge Cards, and they said that they would tape it to the copies that they had left of VF 5 PS3, and when they got the 360 version they would do the same.
All other places that have big scenes should convince there local Game Crazy to do the same. I'm talking California north and south, NYC, Florida, Chicago, etc,.
The scene here in UT is kinda dead right now and I'm hoping this works out. The final card is centered and written on paper, so no loss with it getting thrown out, and it looks nice at the same rate! So make your own personal Challenge Cards and lets see the VFDC grow!!!

 

Hey Man this is a awesome Idea. I just don't have the balls to go up to the game stores and give them these cards. We have some decent players here in CO that would love new comp. I'll see if I can get some guys together to help with this.

 

That's actually a pretty sweet idea. I may just try it out.

 

I think the general idea of the thread is based on 2 things.
* Hey I have a small community and would like to see this thing
work out and find more players.
* The other thing people think is I have a big enough scene so I don't have to worry about it.

I honestly had a friend introduce me to the web site and I am gratefull for it, and I wish I would have known about it earlier. I really think we need to do this that way we can find more players and let more people know about the game.

 

Promoting VF5 at game crazy

Over the last month or 2 I have been over at my local Game Crazy promoting VF. I bring with me the game, stick, and guide. I go into quest mode and play casually, if any one has any questions I answer them, or if they have any comments on the stick I talk to them about it (alot of them have never seen a controller like that outside of an arcade), and most importantly if they want to play I let them have a go at it in arcade mode. If they have fun with it I give them an invite to VFDC and our local gaming community.

While I haven't had anyone sign up yet with the local scene I'm far from giving up.

I'm in good with the store I have been going there for about 6 years so they don't mind me comming in and promoting the game.
If you don't mind having your head tilted at a 45 degree angle for a little bit and are in good with the store then do it.

P.S. Don't get offended if they refer to another fighting game and how it reminds them of that or how they think another one is better. Anyways happy promoting to all the people who due this.
