Hey everyone, just got myself an X-Box (finally!) and have a few questions I hope some of you can help me with:

    1. Recommended arcade joystick? Or is it easy to obtain one of those PS2-Xbox converters? I'd love to just use any of my 4 PS2 arcade sticks. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    2. My X-Box is the Asian version, and I hope to take the machine with me to the U.S. If I do, do you guys know if its online capabilities will work in the U.S.? Will my account still be valid? Can my Asian X-Box play U.S. games?

    3. Should I get my machine modified here in Singapore? What are the pros and cons? I only buy real games.

    4. Must have games? So far I have Halo 1 and 2, DOA Ultimate, and am planning to get the SF 10th Anniversary soon. I am a casual gamer outside of fighting games.

    Many thanks!

I'd recommend Phantom Dust. I'm obsessed with this game right now. Its a fighting game with CCG elements to it. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cosign with SpikeOut. Good luck finding it though. Same luck with Panzer Dragoon Orta. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Ninja Gaiden is good, haven't played much of it honestly. I bought Fable after someone showed it to me for a half-hour but I haven't played it yet. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I haven't played these games at all but the Knights of the Old Republic games and Jade Empire have received great reviews.

    1) You can use a converter, or get the Doa, Sc or the generic Hori stick.

2)everything should work except the ability to play American games. You will need to either soft/hard mod your xbox.

    3a) Pros:

A modded Xbox will allow you to Dl all the emulators that you would like. You can Dl your games into your xbox, you can Dl web browsers and mediaapplications into your box. You can play any Region of xbox gamaes.

    3b) Cons:

You will be banned if you have the mod chip on while browsing xbox live. You cant play foreign xbox games on live(because of mod chip usage..however, you can use xbox connect for some games).

    4) doa3.1 or Doa3.2(Japanese/European versions) are the best versions out of the doa series. Panzer dragon, and shenmue 2 are good games(if you can find them).

    2. Online will work, but games won't. Xbox is region locked.

I have been playing DOA online cuz I have no VF comp where I live. I use an Hori Evo stick with the XBox-PS2 converter.

Man oh man, DOA sucks, gameplay wise. I can see why it gets no props from the Japanese. So...many...cheesy...combos...and...Ayane...players.

I play Leon and get owned. I have an "A" rating after about a week, but I don't see how I'll ever hang with those fast characters with tons of combos.

    The graphics are nice though.

If you have an XBox, get Jade Empire. Now.

    THE definintive list....
    for me anyways...

    Phantom Dust

    Metal Slug 3

    Guilty Gear XX#Reload

DOA games (I like them, fuck you) DOAU is how online fighter should be

    Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

    Last but not least

FFoooooOOOOORRRZZZAAAAAAAA (to the tune of Daytona) - just got the game tonight and will mess around with it more when finals are done next week. What I've played so far is very solid. It's nice to play a racing game where crashing into the wall and other players has a negative effect on the car. I'm glad I don't have to wait for AM2 to come out with a Dayton game (AM2: "here! have OutRun2..." Me: "eat a dick....") 'cuz this racer is just too. damn. good. Never thought I would like a racing/driving "sim" The only gripes I have with it are: Graphics (like a beefed up PGR2), no dl content, and no option to make a custom race track. Other than that it's all good.

On another note: peep the Halo games. I never cared for FPS games in feneral and disliked the ones on console even more but Halo was made with the console controls in mind and it shows. The game is overrated but HELLA fun. Espicially with a friend and going throught the missons together. Still the best FPS on console.

Give the following games a try:

    Outrun2
    NFL 2K5
    Fight Night Round 2
    Ninja Gaiden

But Halo 1 + 2 should keep you happy for a while!

I think I've answered the first half of my question:

Hori's Fighting Stick Ex (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=82&products_id=6092&) seems to be the best...right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    hey Jeff,

I own and use that Hori stick for playing Dead Or Alive Ultimate and Street Fighter Collection. It's absolutely a fantastic stick and well worth the purchase.

Be careful about modding your system. Microsoft can find out if it's modded or not, but only if your careless. I had to buy another xbox a while back because I got busted. Well, I didn't get busted for going online with the mod on. I upgraded my HDD to 200GB and at the time it wasn't know that Microsoft keeps track of serial numbers on xbox system and HDD drives. so, when the new numbers of my HDD popped up on there servers it didn't match what they had logged for me. As a suspicion they just banned the xbox not the account. Your account will be safe if your busted, but you have to kiss your xbox bye-bye for online gaming and get a new one then transfer your LIVE account and everything is back to normal.

pretty much all of them are like that... your missing the point of what i said. Some how there is a marriage between your xbox and HDD serial numbers... something MS can monitor regardless if your mod is on / off... once the numbers didn't match up... meaning what they had logged when I first sign up for LIVE and what showed up on LIVE after I changed my HDD... the new numbers for my 200GB HDD change so when MS saw this, they just banned the xbox from going online. they know the only reason a HDD would change is because of a mod and nothing else... you can't access the HDD unless your system is modded / soft mod and MS knows that...

I was banned on November 9th. The official release date for Halo 2. Seems like MS was saving this day to ban me and thousands of others. Just check out www.xbox-scene forums on that day and you see how many others got the boot from LIVE. Or you can just google xbox live banning or something like that and I am sure you will get many other forum listing about this day. MS knew about my mod for a very long time if you asked me, because I played on LIVE with my 200GB HDD for a few months before the ban.

These are just a few games that are awesome; Otogi 1 and 2, OutRun2, Forza, Riddick, Crimson Skies

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is really awesome (2nd fav game next to VF4) but you need a good partner.

Yesterday, I completed all of the missions in Phantom Dust (still missing 5 skills /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif ) and finally booted Outrun 2.

OMG! I had this game sitting around for months. Pure greatness./versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I want to kick myself for not playing sooner. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
