    Anyone likes those?

I enjoyed Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later.

Zombie movies are kick ass IMHO. Almost every element of the George A. Romero has been (faithfully) reproduced or has element's in the Resident Evil series. The Silent Hill series has strokes of 'Zombie Flicks' also, albeit in a slightly more macabre fashion. Day of the Dead is IMO the best IMO (In terms of Storyline at least).

    Top Zombie movies.
The Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead (The Original, not the 'fake' remake)
Day of the Dead (The BEST!)
    Shaun of the Dead
    28 Days Later

My man LM_Akira probably has a LOT more ideas.

I really liked the Resident Evil films, they weren't mentioned. Are they not "zombie" films or did anybody like them?

28 days later sucked major a$$. That was one of the worst zombie movies that I ever saw. Re was pretty damn good. As for Re2, that sucked major ass in terms of following with the Resident Evil storyline, but the action was nice. Dawn of the Dead was like 28 days later, only a bit better. If you want to play a godd zombie game go for the resident evil series. My favorite is Resident evil 2. That is the best damn resident evil game. Anyone here a resident evil fan???

I disagree about 28 days later, it has IMHO the best opening scene to a zombie film in recent years. The structure of the film is really well thought out, although I agree it pales next to the Romero series.

RE2 was far and away the best RE game. I personally find it almost criminal that it didn't get a remake on GC. What a criminal waste of the best survival horror game ever.

LM_Akira is the biggest RE fan on VFDC though. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well so am I. The only thing is I didn't play RE zero for GC. Other than that I have played all RE for PS and PS2. I can't wait for Outbreak Part2. Does LM_Akira play Outbreak online? If so than tell him if he wants to play with me online. I am especially good at Decisions, Decisions level since I play that level mostly. If he does play my online name is AKIRA_PH. What about you, do you play RE online???

----Also the only thing I like about 28 days later was the music in it. The whole movie though just didn't fit with the whole zombie movie type to me. The way the "zombies" acted in that movie was not very zombie like. I expect zombies to be unintelligent and hungry creatures that want to eat humans.----

28 days later is a very good movie. A lot more thoughtful and original than RE. It really isn't just anaction movie, but a movie with a message about the times we live in. It does borrow from Romero's films, especially Day of the Dead, but how can you make a zombie movie without doing so?

I'll never forgive Capcom or whoever the fuck was responsible for not having Romero direct RE. The movies could've been really good instead of glossy, forgetable, cookie cutter action films.

At least Romero's Land of the Dead is coming out soon.

28 days later was thoughtful??? I'm sorry, but that movie was like pure patheticness. I came out of the movies and I was like, "What the hell was that. It wasn't worth my money." Now DoD and RE those were good zombie movies. As for RE2 the movie, I thought it sucked ass too in storyline and director terms. I mean the movie was too flashy and more like an dumb eighties action flick. It just didn't feel like a horror movie. I especially hated the scene in the graveyard where the zombies came out of the ground. That scene, in my view, was the most pathetic and flashy part of the movie. And as for Nemesis, what the fu#k was that??? All of a sudden he turns good?? For anyone who is a Resident Evil game fan that part made no sense since in the game Nemesis was purely a bad guy. RE1 was an ok movie since it did feel like a horror movie, but Re2 was the most dumb fashy thing I had ever seen in a zombie movie.

    when when?!!!!!!

a couple of italien zombie films are good too like

    demons
    demons 2
    the beyond

i lourve the original night of the living dead, but i also really liked the remake.
the dawn of the dead remake was a good movie to recapture the hearts of the public on the 'zombie' movie scene. but definitly does not hold a candle up to the original.

RE the movie and the sequel on the other hand, were insults. The first one was watchable but the entire virus science thing kinda killed it for me. zombie films arent bout WHY zombies have ravaged the place, their supposed to be about HOW people deal with a situation that they cannot comprehend and in most cases how to escape the impending doom, as we all know that sooner or later the zombie will always win.

the sequel to RE nearly killed me. man that film was bad...

day of the dead was good and was more like the final installment of a trilogy, as it kinda ended the story of what happened to the world.

anyone have any info on this land of the dead movie? this is the first ive heard of it.

Nonsensitude!! 28 Days Later was the unadulterificadination of excellentitudiness. There simply aren't enough adjectives you can DonKingify to expressificate it's absolutical stupendiosity. In short, I found it superbial.

    Perhaps I overstate things, BUT...

the sequence where the protagonist slowly realizes something like armageddon has occured

zombies (or whatever) getting molotov coctailed

the scene where the dad must be killed

the protagonist "becoming" the enemy & using very savage and elemental means to defeat the greater enemy (eye gouging rocks!).

I find it hard to believe that someone who likes movies couldn't appreciate the above. Sure, the ending sucked (any/all of them) and the dark & wobbly camerawork might not have been your cup of tea, but calling 28 days later "pure patheticness" next to a glowing endorsement of tripe like RE defies reason as much as reason may be defied when it comes to matters of taste.

Of course, return of the living dead & shaun of the dead are both flicks i really dig. And for some reason I own a copy of the manchurian candidate remake.

    DESERT!!...STORM!!...DESERT!!...STORM!!

lucio fulci's 'zombi 2' is definitely on my top 5 zombie movies of all time. it was released as the 'sequel' to romero's dawn of the dead in italy (which was named 'zombi' over there), produced by dario argento, in 1979.

it's an absolute classic, with some of the best makeup I've ever seen. the gore is top-notch, too.

Yeah that movie was awsome. I couldn't stop laughing at it LOL. Also I would like to restate my opinion on RE2 the movie. It goes something like this: that movie was completely made by someone who has been watching too many '80's action flicks. The story was distorted and the acting was cheesy. All the acting was a bunch of people shooting loads of ammunition and saying cheesy catch phrases. I was really disapointed with RE2. The movie could have been WAY better.

----Hey jerky, I forgot to tell you on my pm that I will go online on Outbreak at 4 p.m. chicago time. Also I name my rooms SPoD.----

    LOL

Very late to this topic as I've had exams on but I certainly am a true zombie film fanatic.

(To who was asking, no, I don't play RE Outbreak online as you can't here and the PAL version is awful...but I do own all RE games on psone, ps2 and gamecube and have probably spent more hours playing them all than any other game series...not to mention obtaining 99% of all the mad unlockable things/features too).

My favourite zombie film is probably Day of the Dead. Even tho it's the third chapter in Romero's trilogy, the characterisation, tension and set pieces are all superb IMHO. It betters Dawn by focusing more on the conflicts between survivors rather than those between survivors and zombies which I like.

I've not yet seen the re-make of Dawn, but I have several different edits of the original (including the full lenght proper directors cut)

Oh, and strictly speaking, 28 days laters isn't a zombie film...even Danny Boyle has spoken at length as to why it isn't a zombie film...it's a movie about virus that has been spread, more of a disaster movie than a zombie movie.

Ahh more to say but I've gotta be somewhere else soon...
