Hey VFDC! Been a lurker up here for a while but in real need of a hand; Aoi has been a problem matchup for me for a while, and it's hard to even grasp how to approach her in neutral. For more experienced Goh's, what would you recommend is best to overcome her string mixups, and how to scare her a bit from mashing. She's one of the few chars I have a harder time trying to meaty and bully.

String mix-ups? So sundome cancels and just generally mixing the various strings she has I assume?

Most sundome cancels allow you to 6K them even on normal hit and from the top of my head all of them allow this on block. If those cancels are getting you, pay attention to which moves their canceling and send them to heaven after blocking the previous move. 2KPP is one of the riskier things to try this on as if she finishes the string instead the last hit is a CH launcher giving her a combo instead.

If the problem is a player just spamming PPPK, PPP2K, PP6PP, PP8PP, PP2PP which I've seen quite a few people try, then every mid ender in those strings is -13 so you get either PK or a throw attempt on block. The low is -18 but can be cancelled into tenchi, meaning that if you don't want to take risks when punishing that, go for 2_3P+K. Against this kind of thing just punish it correctly to get your damage and chance to run your own offense after and the odds are very much in your favor.

One last thing here is that if you are blocking strings and trying to 6K after to no avail be aware that many of her strings are -4 on block allowing her to 2P you if you don't use your faster mids instead but then again if they're always low punching predictably, your 2P+K+G against a light weight is one of the biggest punishes for a correct read on that.
