    Hi guys, I'd like to introduce LAG: HOMESTAY | FINAL SHOWDOWN @ REDONDO BEACH

    It was so inspiring getting slaughtered by Homestay during Evo 2018, that I invited him to come play and hang with us. He will come with his wife and they both will do a little sightseeing, but he is looking forward to playing Final Showdown with us.

    It would be nice to have a sister event to NYG here on the west coast, where we invite Japanese players, get to know them a bit, and level up our game. (We used to do this with early NYGs during the VF4 era.)


    DATES
    • Start: Friday, January 18th, 2019
    • End: Saturday, January 19th, 2019

    Residence Inn Redondo Beach
    2420 Marine Avenue

    • 10 rooms (each with 2 queen beds) blocked at a negotiated rate of $139 + tax per night
    • Conference room for casual and tourney play on Jan 18th & 19th - with access until 11pm each night

    SCHEDULE
    • Jan 17th Thursday: Casuals in hotel rooms, picnic and hanging out at the beach --> lounge & drink!
    • Jan 18th Friday: Team tourney & casuals --> lounge & drink!
    • Jan 19th Saturday: Singles tourney & casuals --> group dinner & lounge & drink!
    We have the meeting space on the Friday and Saturday - until 11pm or so. That's a lot of play time for:

      Nice work, Adam! I look forward to seeing this develop! While it's unlikely I can make it next year, I really hope youget a great turnout. Looks like you're getting some graphics done, but when it's ready to go we'll promote through VFDC accounts etc.

      Awww yes. This is Alex from Dropkick, I am happy to TO and help promote through our channels if necessary. We can help with streaming as well. I may not be able to get there until Friday evening due to work, but I'll be sure to keep my whole Saturday open.

      For system, most people I know in this area play on PS3. We have access to as many ZOWIE RL2460 monitors as needed, happy to provide those. And we should definitely plan on decent external speakers this time, a lot of people felt the lack of those at EVO.

      If people have strong preference for XBOX I'm sure some of those are around as well, but in my experience PS3 plays well (and is compatible with the PS4/3 sticks most people tend to use now)

      Oh before I forget, I would advise making a smash.gg or Challonge registration page to coincide with any banners/graphics so we can start taking sign ups right away. I'd also probably suggest electronic payment with registration rather than cash on the day, to avoid phantom sign ups :)

      Thanks Alex - I knew I could count on Dropkick. I really appreciate all that you do for the community. No worries, drop by as soon as you can. If anything, maybe you can join us for a group dinner. We will definitely need some monitors, so thank you, but yes, I'll look for external speakers for the setups. Those were sorely missing at EVO.

      Great reminder! I'll be sure to set these things up. Ideally, if someone wants to volunteer to help with this part, that would be greatly appreciated.

      With combined forces I think I can provide you with 3 ps3s setup. Dropkick team has tons of ps3s to provide. Also if your Into the idea of running maybe 4evo I can provide 2 ps2 setups with brook converters
