2 RED RINGS ON XBOX???!!!???

so, my xbox just automatically shut off and gave me 2 red rings for overheating. (first time ever.) I turned it off and back on and it loaded up no prob---of course i then turned it off to let it cool down.

question: is it basically a forgone conclusion that either

a) it is going to now always overheat after being on for an hour or so?
b) i will get the full-blown death in my near future?

I appreciate any light that can be shined upon this.

 

Don't waste your time and just report it as 3 dead rings and I did it before. MS will take it no doubt.

 

Mine overheated once about a year ago. Oddly enough, it was because the hard drive wasn't snapped in all the way. I had no issues after that.

Catherine had it overheat months later. And that was still months before my RROD.

Regardless, I recommend putting a strong vacuum up to all the cooling vents to get rid of internal dust buildup. Also, see about extending your warranty just in case.

If my warranty ever expires without the option to renew, and I RROD, I will do the 12 cent repair unless an official repair is reasonably priced. I refuse to buy, swap serial# stickers, blah blah, return, fuck someone (even Microsoft) in the ass deception bullshit.

Honestly, i'd have no issue with screwing over micro$oft with a switch. But its the collateral damage that i don't want to cause. Some poor 10 year old opening his new xbox360 on xmas, the happiest day of his life, only to find it has 2 (or 3) red rings flashing when he turns it on.

 

You can just tell them it's still in warranty, mine's been out of warranty for more than three years and they still take it in if anything happens. They must not bother to check
