2P side diagonal woes

Does anyone have any advice for holding the stick in VF? I play Akira and at least get what I'm aiming for when I play on the 1P side, but on the 2P side I'm just a mess. I can't do Youhou (11P) and crouch dash reliably at all. If I go into training mode, I can get both of these attacks out better than normal, but I still miss a lot and maybe hit them 60% of the time.

I think this is because of how I hold the stick. I've got my ring and pinky fingers on the right side of the stick with pointer and middle fingers on the left and thumb on the ball. This gives me very little leverage for double back diagonals.

The alternative I'm sure is the wine cups method, but I've tried that and it doesn't seem to give me much more leverage for these two particular attacks.

Dumb question, but any advice? Should I switch to wine cups and just practice a whole lot? What grip are most people using?

Practicw makes perfect. Don't change what you're comfortable with. In vanilla I would have advised you to play Quest mode from the 2P side but I don't know if that still works in FS in special sparring.

I have the same problems as adverse. I got used to that wine cup thing because of mortal kombat (where you also need those "up" movements). I was able to hit them better with that grip. I now see that holding the stick this way doesnt really help me with crouch dashing in VF. 2P side really sux :(
