    UPDATE #5: We have a volunteer streamer for VF5FS EVO 2018. https://www.twitch.tv/escapingworkforce

    UPDATE #4:
Switched it back to 360 from reading everyone's responses here. Plus, I have plenty of 360s around at my house from my SEGA fan event in Georgia.

    UPDATE #3:

Right now I'm making a document to keep track on who's volunteering for this VF5FS tournament and is guaranteed to show up at EVO. We're going to need people who can

    - Help with the double elimination brackets
    - Test and Run the stream
    - Commentary

If anyone has any experience with these following things. Feel free to send me a DM here or Tweet me @KoriMaru. Then from there, I can provide the information on how setups is going to be like at EVO.

Also if we don't happen to have enough people who can provide PS3s by the end of this week, I'll switch it back to 360.

    UPDATE #2:

Hey guys it's finally Tuesday and judging from the poll, looks like we're using the PS3 consoles of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown for EVO.

Now if anyone is attending EVO 2018 and has some spare 360 to PS3 converters for Xbox players, send me a DM here or message me on Twitter @KoriMaru.

Seeing as this tournament will almost certainly hit 32 entrants at this stage, @Kori_Maru15 will need to consider capping the entrants.

Can you guys run more than 32? If so what number does the tournament max out at?

Whatever is decided it needs to be advertised soon as people will miss out otherwise because they didn't realise it was capped.

I still can't believe this monster is coming to our VF Evo Side Tourney....

      Jason Elbow
Well Evo stated we need at least 32 participants. But I don't know if that is the cap.
    6. MadeManG74
      MadeManG74
Pretty certain that's not a cap, just the minimum amount needed for stream time.

I'm thinking we cap it at 40 to avoid running overtime. You guys will need to be brutal with DQs if we're running 40 though.

Oh for sure. You don't show up on time, or violate in any manner you are outta there!

Looking forward to entering. I need to boot up my 360 and start really practicing. We don't need more systems or sticks right?
    10. MadeManG74
      MadeManG74
I don't know if there is enough space for more systems, but more sticks would definitely be a good thing!

I have 2-3 360 sticks: Hori Fighting EX 2, Madcatz SE, and I think a Madcatz Ultimate Marvel TE, not including my own TE2+.

We got about 4 systems. But yeah more sticks would be fine!

      40 entrants

imo it should not be capped.
lets say there are 64 entrants
      R1 = 32 matches, R2 = 16 matches, etc...
total 94 matches (with losers bracket.)

      four setups.
      ~24 matches per setup.
lets say, 3 minutes per match.
1hr12min of matches for a 64 man tournament on 4 setups.

nobody's perfect, so let's double the time to account for human error & waiting for matches / looking for people etc.
      2.5hrs.

don't cap it, let's see how many people enter!

      Don't forget it's currently FT3.
ALthough i saw that Sega Cup is FT2, so maybe for the sake of time it can be changed to FT2 until top 8?

If you mean 3 minutes per match, then you need to win 2 matches to win a game? So you'd need to at least double that number which takes us to five hours already. Not taking into account bottle necks that will have to happen with the pools coming to a close. Two pools will relieve that a bit, but not entirely.

Ultimately it's up to @Kori_Maru15, Escaping Workforce and @Jason Elbow .

The tough thing is that it needs to be run to top 4 by 3PM on the first day, and its hard locked to setups and space provided by Evo.

If nothing else this tournament proves it can be done! I hope to see more VF at US majors, especially since in future it'll mean less time and space restrictions and allow bigger tournaments without caps!

As much as we would love to have 64 people in this tournament. We're a bit concerned about how much time we have to run the tournament as we would have to start our finals at 3PM Pst.

i guess my thought process is, a 64 man tournament with 4 setups is like a 16 man tournament with 1 setup. but I'm not a math magician or anything. i just don't think it'll take that long, and the more the merrier!

I also would love a 64 man tourney, hell I would love a 100 man one! But i think we are pressed for time and I am inexperienced with running brackets. If you can convince Kori and escape then I'm all for it. If not then the 40 it is.

The big hurdle will be overlap, and there's going to be a lot of it with pools and other side games happening all day.

Anyway to up the tourny entrant count? I know a few other people wanting to join. Rocket is willing to fly to EVO from Korea just to play in the VF tourny. Seems like an exception could be made for that dedication? Crazydrunk said he would go to EVO too if he could enter.

i would LOVE to see Rocket enter! he kicked ass at both SEGA Cups.

      @Kori_Maru15 @MadeManG74 pls pls pls consider a 64 man cap T~T
