So tonight LA Akira and I tested the Memory Card capabilities and after extensive testing it isnt quite as easy as plugging in a memory card and the game reads it.

So again you CANNOT plug in the MC and get your data transferred.

    Here are the steps:
#1 Transfer your gamer profile into your friends 360. You can do this two different ways:
    a. Move your Profile data from the Hard Drive to the MC. This
can be a pain because you can only Move your Profile and
    not copy it.
    b. You can move your profile over by knowing your XBL Sign
in information (GamerTag, Email, and Password) and
entering it into your friends 360 HDD
#2 Put your MC into a open slot
    #3 Start the game
    #4 Select Versus
#5 On the character select screen the 2nd player should hit start
Then Select there profile. Once done the 1st player needs to
exit versus then go back in
#6 now when 2 player starts the game he needs to choose his MC.

Congratulations you can now play with your data

If anyone can figure out an easier way then let me know, but thats how we got it to work

Presumably for a big session everyone would transfer their profiles and games to the machine and then you wouldn't need to do any swapping until the end, when you took your stuff off the machine?

for big gatherings every system involved should have your profile in there HDD

you can then enter your MC at will. Just make sure you save and load your MC's correctly

There is an easier way. You don't need your profile on their hard drive. My friend does this all the time. He never transfers his profile. What you do is RECOVER your profile to your memory card. That will do a full transfer. Then, when it is your turn to play, press the guide button. Then sign into your profile. THEN you should be able to load/save your player data. Try this way. It works for every other game.

Yeah recovery works, then all you have to do is when you get to the VS screen you use the guide to sign into your gamertag with your gamesave and load the data.

Does the game manual not mention anything about this at all?

When I read Brisal's description I thought to myself, "you've got to be fucking kidding me!"

Move the original profile to the mem card. Copy the original's game save to the mem card.

Every time someone tries to sign into their profile w/ their mem card, go back to the main menu and sign in through there, and then load up Vs. That should work. Not a hassle at all.

Problem I see with the profiles system is that you have to input your p/w to recover it. In a tournament, this could be very risky because someone can just watch as you navigate the on-screen keyboard and remember your password, which would also happen to be your live account (email).

You could just go the simple way and create a character in quest and rename him/her. Won't have your items, but you're only playing a couple of rounds. Doing the recovery thing would make a tourny really long.

I do not have an Xbox360, and will be playing on a friend's console.

For offline gaming only, will I need to make a Xbox Live Gamertag, account, etc. to be able to use my customized character on different Xbox consoles?

no. You can create offline profiles on the 360's hdd or mem.card, but you'll only be able to use it on different consoles with a mem.card (Live accounts allow you to recover through internet).

Seriously, for this get a Memory Card. You need it for the VF5 save data anyway, you can't recover that through Xbox Live. Also recovery of a single Gamer Profile through Live can take up to ten minutes if you have a big download history. For bigger gatherings where you might have two or more Xbox 360s profile recovery is even more stupid.

I never felt the need before but now putting a password on your gamertag is a must. Only way to be to prevent others from accessing it after your profile has been saved to someone else's console.

One thing that sucks about all this is your button settings don't come along with your profile on the MC when you use it on another console. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Which is why you should just bring it on the Memory Unit and keep the profile there. After you're done, just sign out and remove the MU.

I see 3of19 last spoke of this in November, and he even said what to do (put your tag on the MU). I never knew how to do this, and...

Got some news from CaliJared tonight.

If you plan to take your memory card to someone's house, here's how to make your life easier. If you normally have your Gamer Tag saved to your hard drive, before you leave, do the following:

    1) In the dashboard, move to the right panel (system) and select memory.

    2) Select Hard Drive.

    3) Select Profile

    4) Select the Profile you want to put on your MU

    5) Select Move

    6) Move profile to MU

Now, when you plug your MU into another system, you won't have to recover your Gamer Tag. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Re: 360 MEMORY CARD - and how to get working in VS

I would also like to add what you need to do before and after a match

So Player 1 one needs to sign in via the Hard Drive or MU and go to the VS. screen.

Once at the character select screen Player 2 signs in with his MU

Player 1 will now have data on the left and Player 2 will have data on the right

When its time for a new player to come in you will need to exit to the Main Menu of the game. Player 1 who is leaving must sign out then take there MU out.

Player 3 now takes over for Player 1 and connects his MU to the system.

Player 2 goes back to the Vs. Character Select Screen and Player 3 signs in.

So the thing to know is EVERY TIME a new player comes to the system you need to exit all the way to the main menu and then back to the VS Chracter Select Screen to sign in.

It seems like it would take to much time, but it really goes by pretty fast.

Alfaflex mentioned making a profile on the other xbox. This is the best and easiest route to take.

    1. Copy VF data file to the MC

    2. Make a profile on 2nd xbox

    3. Save a game under that new profile

    4. Move to the System Menu and overwrite the newly saved data with the data from your MC.

....No password catching, no account recovery, no hassle.

all u have to do is Move the Profile Data and saved VF files to the MU.

when you get to someones 360 you don't have to do anything except plug in the MU

This also becomes problematic with several set-ups involved.
