1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

I recently opened up a new IRC channel (chat room) for discussion about 3D fighting games, since I didn't see a similar channel around. Hopefully people will be able to enjoy this channel. In this channel, you can talk about any 3D fighting game: Dead or Alive, Soul Edge/Calibur, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, et cetera.

Please check out the channel. If you have any suggestions, post 'em here or shoot me an e-mail. Below is a link to a short and basic tutorial I wrote for mIRC (that deals directly with getting connected to this IRC channel). So even if you don't know much about IRC, please review the website and give it a try!

Thanks for the tutorial. There used to be a link on the homepage of VFDC about #vfhome and how to use IRC.

It's a brand new channel; less than 24 hours old. There's only so much I can do: I've done the advertising thus far. All I need is the members to stay in the channel. If there's no one inside, then idle or whatnot. Try to get more people to join. The members have to make the channel; and hopefully they will with this channel.

Please try to support the channel by idling, helping others, and trying to get others to join the channel. I am relying on the community to make this channel grow. It's something I've wanted to see for a while, and finally decided to start it myself. So hopefully people will embrace it.

You have to register for mIRC? Is there another free one or maybe it'd be better to get an older version of mIRC?

mIRC is free. No charge necessary. It says there's a "30 day trial," but even after that period is up, you can use the program fully for as long as you want. All that happens after the 30 days is a pop-up that comes up for a few seconds asking you to register. But the program remains 100% free, and 100% functional. And the pop-up is not bothersome by any means, especially for such an established program.

Some people prefer other programs for a variety of reasons, but the biggest reason I run into is customization. Though for the average user, mIRC is great.

If the room was on an EFNet server I'd gladly join. Most games have discussion rooms on EFNet.

Is it possible to connect to 2 different channel servers? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Quite possible indeed. In the Status window, type in the following: /server -m irc.rizon.net

I may consider moving the channel to a different network for a few reasons. One of them being what you mentioned: that a lot of console game discussion is on EFNet. So I will have to consider that. Not everything about the channel is official. I'll have to see how it goes. When my laptop is back up and running (later tonight), I'll check out how EFNet does channels.
