Got my new 3D tv and I am totally shocked how awesome 3D gaming is.

best game I have played is Crysis 2, but surprisingly SSF4AE and esp MVC3 really pop with 2D to 3D conversion

VF5 is ok, but not that big of a deal

You just perfectly described how the world views VF in general.

How does it work. Does the game need native 3D, or do the TV and glasses somehow convert to 3D? If that's the case does a game designed to include 3D look much better?

The TV I have is the Panasonic VT30

It all depends on the TV. The TV is what drives the post conversion from 2d to 3d.

I would normally say that native 3D games look better, but 2d -3d conversion does work quite well on certain games

For Example (btw all XB360 games):
    3D Native-

Crysis 2 is AMAZING. It brings you into that world like nothing I have ever seen.

Call of Duty Black Ops is just ok. The 3D is ok but the framerate drops and they do a weird things with the targeting system

    2D-3D conversion

Virtua Fighter 5 has some depth in the background but the words, the character select screen, and the now loading screen pop.
Super Street Fighter 4 has alot of depth to the backgrounds, the words and lifebars pop.
Marvel vs Capcom 3 has an amazing sense of depth and with it having comic themed font, it is awesome when the words pop out a bit.
