Thanks to all the top tier VF players who made this an awesome tournament. Thanks especially to Shang for running a smooth and entertaining tourney setup and also to those who brought projectors(Dobi & Hyun?) and other equipment. You guys made everything go.
Tournaments like this really help to expand the VF community so I hope to see you guys at a future tournament and next time I'm going to compete myself(and get owned). /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks to everyone who came along to make this event a memorable one! It was great to meet all the new people as well as catching up with familiar ones.

Congrats to Nelson, Adam and Micheal (Raider) on their placings. You guys all played very well. A special mention must go to Dobi who, I thought, played extremely well and is very deserving of his placing. A lot of us commented on the side that we thought he got better with each game, and rarely seemed intimidated by his competition. Well done, Dobi!

Also, a special thanks to the hosts and local Boston VFers for all their hard work, organisation and welcoming us travellers. As usual with events like these, one weekend is not long enough. Here's to the next one!

Most definitely congrats to Dobi on your placing. Don't think you can take me tho I'ma get to training and then i'm gonna RAPE you it's gonna be a sad sight you better watch your back.
Seriously tho I'm glad this tournament is over now so that I can concentrate more on VF and SC2 and finally put tekken to rest(for now).

Impressions - Volume I

As always, one of the best parts of tourneys and gatherings, are the reports that follow online. Here are my thoughts on a great weekend of VF.

Day 1:
kbcat and I left Toronto at noon on the Friday, pumped up for our 8.5 hour trek by car to Boston. It had been almost a full 7 years since we last drove to Boston for VF - July 26, 1997 to be exact. The drive was rather uneventful for the most part. Little traffic at the border was great, but the trip itself was driving...driving. We marvelled at the site of a kajillion american flags no matter which way you looked, had great laughs from the Family Focus Radio station we picked up randomly after getting bored with our 6 CDs, and dutifully paid our highway tolls.

Upon arriving into the Boston area, things started to get interesting. No offense to the Bostonians, the city itself has quite a beautiful skyline. However. Whoever commissioned the asshats that design their roads should be shot.

Roads with little to no helpful roadsigns.
Roads with little to no helpful roadsigns and no lines.
Intersecting roads with little to no helpful roadsigns and no lines.
Intersecting roads with massive medians that are solely there to piss off those wishing to turn into an establishment on the opposite side, with little to no helpful roadsigns and no lines.

"WTF" became very common as we tried to find the hotel. Well, no, we had found the hotel, but then fought continuously with the roads to find a way to get to the hotel. *sigh*...it was an experience, let me put it that way.

Eventually - we made it. Up the elevator to the fourth floor. Follow the clicking noises.

Upon arrival, we were greeted inside by Shang, Jerky, Mr.Bungle, and SiYkO amongst a group of others packed into one hotel room: Big Boy and Sanjuro from Louisiana, Netrom and Raider from Norway, Myke from Australia / Montreal, Smurf and I think others from the CTF crew of NYC...Nice to meet up with old friends and nice to meet some of the new people as well. Still a bit dazed from our drive, we crammed into the room and watched the VFing while chatting with others. Overall, we were starving and Shang was waiting on some more people to arrive before we would head out for a bite to eat - but it was cool as I got a few games in against Netrom, Raider and Jerky. Netrom plays Akira and his brother Raider plays Kage. I won my matches against them but in watching the two of them thrash others in the room later on, got me thinking that I didn't get the best of them in our first matches. They are solid players with excellent character knowledge and demon command input. It became clear that they would be a terror come the tourney. My match against Jerky was non-descript...Jacky is my nemesis and Jerky handed my me ass quite simply.

SuperGolden showed up not too long after, as did Hyun, and eventually the rest of Boston's players - Dobi et al - showed up and the group headed out to find some food. It was relatively late and we ended grabbing a bite at a nearby bowling alley. Myke, kbcat and I split a pizza and had a couple Sam Adams' while everyone reintroduced eachother and got to know who's who. Myke became the point of focus for an interview on camera with Jerky. Hopefully his wisdom can be captured and posted in the near future? (Shang? get capping!). It was interesting to know that the Norwegians had spent quite a bit of time playing in Shanghai. Toronto will be happy to hear that apparently Jo Shun still leaves his mark in the Shanghai arcades - 103 win streak with Akira. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Following dinner, Myke, kbcat, SuperGolden and myself nabbed one of the projectors and followed Jerky and Shang to another hotel for our stay. Inside the Holiday Inn, Shang was completely pwned by the woman at the front desk. Something to do reservations being slightly wrong - no worries, SuperGolden had an air mattress and Myke, kbcat and I got to spoon on the king size bed.

We set up my PS2 in the room and had a score of fights until about 3:30am before everyone was pretty tired and crashed.

Day 2:
As an early morning riser I was up at around 7:30. Showered and dressed, I dragged kbcat outside to help find a pharmacy - I had the flu earlier in the week and since Wednesday I've had a terrible cough...I was in desperate need of some lozenges before I burst a lung. We found a Walgreens not too far off and discovered to local IHOP as well. Returning to the hotel we got Myke and SuperG up and returned to the IHOP for some breakfast.

We played some more casual games in the hotel for an hour or so before heading out to the other hotel to rendez-vous with the others and collectively go to MIT for the tourney. adamYUKI, GhettoSHUN, and Konjou had arrived the night before at around midnight and were staying at another hotel nearby. Konjou and I quickly agreed that the Norwegians were playing hot and would be a force to beat in the tourney.

Logistics are always a nightmare with a lot of people, and getting everyone to MIT was a bit hairy but we all got there. kbcat and I drove Big Boy and Sanjuro in - taking the scenic route of course! - while Myke and SuperG took Netrom and Raider with them...the rest packed in with adamYUKI and Shang.

MIT is absolutely stunning. The buildings, the walkways, the trees, the women. Wow. We were all impressed. Parking was an issue - most of us finding a spot that was a good 10-15 minute walk away. But it was free, so that was good.

Venturing inside to find the tourney was simple enough and the venue reminded me a lot of the setup that we had in Chicago (VF3tb) albeit with slightly larger rooms. There was a big screen at the front, surrounded by about 5 TVs - all of these were running TTT and SC2 when we got there. At the back, we had setup a small TV and a projector for VF4 Evo. There were about 25+ of us at the back switching in and out for some casual play. I managed to fit some games in with Konjou, ghettoSHUN, adamYUKI and Raider - unfortunately I didn't get a chance to play Big Boy, Sanjuro, Cruz, VithDos, and a few others...but that's what happens when there's few setups for a bunch of people. This lasted a good 4 hours or so before the VF4 tourney got use of the front big screen.

The Tourney - Llanfair's Perspective:
With 32 people, it was a perfect bracket for double elimination and we managed to score some great software off the SC2 guys for the creation of the brackets on Shang's laptop. The matches for round 1 were assigned randomly. Oddly enough, our hotel room was paired up against each other - Myke vs. kbcat, and Llanfair vs. SuperGolden. I won my first match against SuperG - it was the second match of the tourney and it was pretty clear that we were both a bit nervous. Our characters were often seen doing very little movement and there was a bit of 'deer in headlights' syndrome going around. SuperG and I have fought scores of times before and both knew the match could go either way. My second fight was against SiYkO - one of the new Boston players under Shang and Jerky's wing. SiYkO plays a well versed Shun but I'm not sure how much Pai experience he has - I think that played a role into me winning.

Following the first two rounds, my next match was against adamYUKI. After having played adamYUKI for hours on end no more than two weeks ago, I thought that I had a chance to pull off an upset here. A small chance - but a chance no less! And...it was not to be this time. Adam thoroughly trounced me and I never got anything going in our match I felt. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got bumped down into the losers bracket and my eventual opponent was kbcat. Here's someone who knows my game better than anyone. I was worried right away - and sure enough this worry translated onscreen and I didn't get it going enough. kbcat's Brad has really improved - even within the last 48 hours - and I was overwhelmed. I knew he was going to be aggressive on my Pai and my gameplan was to shut that down with some well timed inashis, but I guessed wrong a couple times and paid for it dearly. Good game on his part - I'm looking forward to seeing him develop his Brad more, to be honest /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif That was the end of my tourney - finishing in the 8-16 somewhere was pretty good I thought. The competition was excellent and it was nice to watch the matches get more and more exciting following the round in which I exited /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thought on Players:

First up, the placeholders - 1st through 4th.

ghettoSHUN - Vanessa
Nelson plays the best Vanessa I've ever faced. His in and out game is the core of his strategy and he uses the tactic very effectively. He is extremely difficult to throw, due to his focus of uncouterable attacks, and he capitalizes on crumples to achieve maximum damage. Overall, gettoSHUN's Vanessa is top notch and plays with a lot confidence. I know a lot of people who have given up on playing Vanessa thinking she is too hard to win with and lacks something...watching ghettoSHUN changes that entirely and makes you want to play her. My congratulations to Nelson for playing at the top of his game when the pressure and stakes are the highest!

adamYUKI - Jeffry
Adam's Jeff is all about efficiency. His stellar defense is a carry over from skills learned long ago in VF3 - Adam has always been an excellent defensive player - tough to throw, tough to stagger. His Jeff's style revolves efficient damage. Few moves. Stick to the combos that work, use throws that do damage but are unlikely to be reversed (e.g. d+P+G)...take the damage one point at a time. Adam also has a remarkable ability to know when to finish a string and when not to - his use of b+P and b+PP is a good example. Adam is one of the toughest nuts to crack in this game and is model for anyone looking to dedicate themselves in becoming an elite player. His matches versus ghettoSHUN were filled with uncertainty as the two of them have a long long history. Both of them are at the top of their game and they demonstrated their expertise in both casual and tourney play. Congrats on second! Well deserved. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Raider - Kage
Raider and his brother Netrom are the real deal. Raider's Kage is completely versatile and has the ability to capitalize on your mistakes to deliver massive damage. I played Raider the first night and won in our only match-up. I'm glad I got a chance to play him some more prior to the tourney and our matches were always quite close however his Kage always had the edge at the end. Awesome games. I really enjoyed playing his Kage as he was not afraid to try some riskier moves and situations - this is what makes VF so much fun. The experience gained in Shanghai has really shaped both of the Norwegians into VF killing machines and when they're on their game it's tough to beat. Congrats on third! Hope you can make it to another NA event in the near future!

Dobi - Lion
Wow. Dobi gets my vote for most improved player throughout the tourney. With every match his Lion got trickier and more deadly. I never got a chance to play Dobi before the tourney and I relly wish I had as his Lion was very effective that night. Dobi sticks to the basics when it comes to Lion's combos, choosing often for the less damaging non-stance dependent versions. However, it won't be long before he starts to incorporate the more damaging combos and become even better. He pulled up his game when facing Jerky and pulled off a win to knock Jerky out. Nice playing Dobi - hopefully we'll get a chance for somes games another time.

Will continue with Volume II...

.cheers.

Thanks Shang, Jerky, Hyun and all of the other Boston players for hosting and helping out with the event! It was a lot of fun...

I'm going to post a full report in a bit... just a few things

Michael and Andre (Netrom and Raider): I was really glad you guys made it, it was awesome to meet you! You guys are very hardcore for coming from China to play! It was also a mind trip of sorts to meet aonther pair of identical twins who play virtua fighter! I only wish mine was there so we could have had a first ever Twin Battle or something like that, I think it would have been a lot of fun! Even though I could tell you two apart at the end, I forget who I played and when, though I think I played both of you throughout, and it was a lot of fun, and you are both very strong... When you two return to Finland I'm sure your friends there will learn a lot from playing you... And congrats on 3rd place Michael! I really hope to see you guys sometime in the future...

Nelson: Congrats on first place! Your vanessa is killer ! really enjoyed playing against you before the tournament...

adamYUKI: congrats on 2nd! your jeffry is mad tight...

konjou: wish i got to play you more... good to see you make it though!

sikyo: nice to meet you! you are much better than shang would leave people to believe /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif keep up the work with shun, and i really loved your backturned flowcharts...

hayato: nice to meet you, your wolf impressed me quite a bit! I loved seeing you hit perfect giant swings on a pad...

llanfair: seems like we meet in every tournament! good games, and had fun playing against you in the hotel room too... your pai is fast and furious, and makes me re-think my strategy often...

kbcat: good to see you again...

myke: nice to meet you, your kage is fun to play against.... thanks for driving me around all weekend /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

smurfy: gg in the tournament, you should have gone on to win it all! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

rsw: nice to meet you, thanks for showing me the way to the 2nd hotel that first night /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

vulcan: you are becoming a staple at VF tournaments /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif nice to see you here too...

dobi: your lion was on fire during the tournament and a lot of fun to watch...

vith dos: your match vs shang early in the tournament was definatley one of the most exciting matches! go jersey! man that really was great when you hit the kickflip counter, i didn't see it coming! and then the ground through too... good showing!

the tournament was one match except for the semis and finals... even though I got beat in both of my matches, I felt like the one match deal lead to a more exciting (and faster running) tournament... the venue was a lecture-style classroom with a projector.. the audio and video system was nice, although the place wasn't all that big, had terrible ventilation and was filled with sweaty guys...

wish I had gotten in more casual matches with everyone, kind of a shame we were in different hotels the first night, and the 2nd night I was dead tired...

i'll write more later, I've got a busy week ahead but do intend to post more...

I would like to thank shang, hyun, the organization crew at M.I.T and everyone else who I may not have mentioned for making this event
unforgetable. Meeting new VFers is the best part of these tourneys.

And seeing old faces like owen, rsw, reminds me what it's all about.
Congrats to all.

Three more things to mention that I forgot to say in my interview.
1. I'm glad I only had to fight dobi bryant (NYC nickname) ONCE. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
2. Much respect to liz yates, first female I've ever seen enter a VF tourney
in the U.S.. I loved conversing with you between matches. You have
great insight into the mind game behind all the moves. Way to

Overall the weekend was awesome (despite the lack of sleep). I had some fun matches in the gatherings against Hyun's Jeffry vs. my Lion and my Aoi vs. Siyko's Akira.

Dobi, great job with your Lion, maybe next time we'll have a mirror match.

Kang's Sarah is very good and more impressive for such a newcomer to human competition.

Sanjuro and BigBoy, you guys made a cheesy movie very interesting. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I'm looking forward to playing you guys next time.

I got to play Myke's Brad a lot before the tourney started, and I was obviously overmatched but it was great to have an experience against a quality Brad. Myke, next time I won't miss my TFT's /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Vith, thanks for the ride again. I'll contact you when I have time to go to Jersey.

Vulcan, I had a fun time conversing with you during the ride home, hope to see you at CTF this Friday.

Raider and Netrom: I had playing you guys, albeit a few times. Netrom, I gave you a scare in the first round of the tourney with my Lion, I'm looking forward for a rematch. Raider I didn't know that Kage was your main character, hope to play your Kage next time. You have a very strong Wolf too dude.

To the NYC peeps, I'll try to make it CTF as often as I can.

Congratulations again to Nelson.

And finally...the official Baton Rouge report.

Richard and I landed at Logan and immediately noticed the marked proliferation of attractive, full bodied females. The thirty minutes we spent deciding whether to take a cab or wait for the free hotel shuttle were peppered with the now classic and plainly audible "my name is big boy" directed at any female in earshot. We took a taxi and were treated to intertwining stories about our own fair state and its inhabitants so far fetched I nearly started to believe every word. $35 later we were at the door of the Quality Inn, bags in hand and ready to hand ass.

Hand ass, that is, directly to Netrom and Raider in terrific abundance. I must have gotten SPoD'd 30 times by Netrom's polished and aggressive Akira, with Smurfy throwing in a few for good measure. Raider went into his funky kage vault and produced more than a little niftiness I had never seen before...racking up win after win in the process. These twin terrors from the north are creative and ravenously hungry for lifebar. And, along with Smurfy, terrific fellas besides.

These first hours in Boston set the tone for the whole trip. Good VF. Good company. Chronic visits outside for cigarettes & someone or ones passed out on a hotel bed with VF jamming on the wall.

Somewhere around this time we were joined by our VERY gracious hosts from the fine city of Boston. On more than one occasion I was told that my money was no good there (they'll knock you into the loser's bracket, but they won't charge you!). These guys (Shang, Jerky, Hyun, SiYko, Dobi, Ticky) are a fantastic group...very friendly...accomidating to the point of bending over backwards & can, to a man, whup ass in the game. Richard and I thank you all...You can crash at our house any time.

Anyways, with the boys came another projector, lots of hustle & bustle & the familiar face of SuperG (good yomi with the television, Alex!) along with the CTF locals (Cruzlink, hayatogx & raziel666)...you guys rock!!

Richard and I took a(nother...cigarette) break from the mayhem right about this time & BAM! Up strolls Myke. Shake hands, say hi & [6][6_][K] Myke's on his way to 419. We followed behind in short order and after only a few matches, RSW joined the party with the road weary Llany & kbcat filing in around the same time.

It's overload really. So many people you'd like to chat with & play & watch but then there's exhaustion & hunger & nicotine addiction & those beautiful Boston behinds sometimes trickling through the lobby so you linger for another cigarette you don't need and when you get back to the room it smells like ass and you smell like smoke. Myke obliges your adolescent fumblings with the game he loves and you wonder what he's thinking as you perpetually miss the lp followup to your normal hit knee floats or harmlessly pass a [4][6][6][P]+[K] under his backflipping ninja.

to be continued

I want to say I had mad fun this past weekend of the tourney. Thanks to all the peepz that made the effort to come Boston and made it fun...and thanks to Shang, Hyun , and Siyko for organizing this tounament and making it happen and everything else.

Thoughts:

Smurfu, Cruzlink, Raziel, Hayato, Oiron:
U guys r kool peepz... I had alot of fun playin and chillin w/ u guys Fri. night

Netrom: Very powerful Akira....has nasty quick movements...& puts the shoulder ram to very good use
Raider: Ill Kage..very creative...master of the jumonji stance.
They are both top notch....and also they are very cool and humble as well.

Big Boi and Sanjuro: Koo chillin w/ u guys... it s funny that we didnt get to play each other all weekend long, well I guess next time

Myke: I didnt get to play u...I wish I did...I really wanted to c ur Brad in action, Im a Brad user as well, but scrubby and still learning O well...hopefully next time...

And Congrats to the top 3 finishers: Nelson, Adam, and Micheal... and Dobi u still suck /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Okay I’m back in Shanghai again; first of all I just want to say that I had the best time ever when I was in America and I want to thank everyone who made my trip an lifetime experience to remember. I really loved every second of it!

Anyway I’m back and its time to write my report:

The Boston tournament was held at a perfect timing for me, since this probably was the last Evolution tournament\gathering that I could attend in USA because I will have to join the army in the summer, though you never know.
Both I and Netrom have always followed the American VF and SF scene with great interest and it was awesome to finally being able to experience everything first hand.

Being able to travel from China – USA and then back to China would be a totally other story though.
The whole thing started when I and Netrom PM’ed Shang and told him that we wanted to come to the tournament.
After that a rollercoaster rider with e-mails, phone calls, taxi rides and lots of hating towards the system started…let me go step by step.

• We thought that we would need a VISA to get into the USA, so we traveled to the American embassy here in Shanghai where they told us that we didn’t need a VISA because we were Norwegians. After October 2004 we will need a VISA though if we don’t acquire some new super duper passport with fingerprints and the whole set up.
• Yes everything is looking good so we order tickets which would take us from Shanghai to Los Angeles and then transfer planes from LA to Boston.
• Two days later I check my passports where I find out that I ONLY have 1 allowed entry into China…which I used when I first got here in January, so as of this moment I won’t get back into China if I don’t apply for a new VISA.
• We call the Chinese authorities and they tell us that we need a reason to be allowed to travel, I was like wtf a reason to be allowed to travel…can’t people travel just to travel? Also you CANNOT get a Chinese VISA in China…you actually have to travel to another county and apply for it there…how stupid is that?
• So because of this I had to write a personal CV and get Shang to write me an invitation to the Boston tournament which I would hand over to the Chinese authorities.
• Okay so 2 days before I’m leaving for Los Angeles I ask Shang if he could find the address for the Chinese consulate in Boston, were he lets us know that there isn’t a consulate in Boston…the nearest is located in New York. And this happened AFTER I had spoken with the Chinese authorities…they had even filled out a form where they had confirmed that there was a consulate in Boston…lol
• So we then had to change the airplane tickets from Shanghai – LA – Boston to Shanghai – Beijing – New York which isn’t free so we had to pay 200 bucks for it.
Well after all of this, things started to go fluently…I don’t think I had any problems what so ever when I first got to America.
I arrived the JFK airport on Wednesday; I didn’t do anything on Wednesday just found a hotel nearby the Chinese consulate and went straight to bed.
I woke up early the next day and watched some Transformers on TV before I headed out to the Chinese consulate and paid another 120 bucks to get my VISA.
It was a beautiful day in NYC and I couldn’t believe that I actually was in New York, it was my first time in US and damn it…it was great.

Kungfusmurf: Very cool to hang out with you, thanks a lot for meeting us at the Chinese consulate and taking us to Boston as well.
It was very fun and interesting to talk about you whatever the topic was; and you are one funny guy man and a much better VF player than you give yourself credit for…I’m really looking forward to meeting you again cause I’m definitely coming back to NYC!

Shang: Dude you are one funny fucker and a superb VF player…I always thought that you were a Wolf player, but you had an awesome Jacky. Thanks for everything from organizing the event to answering all the PM’s with questions that I had.
I felt welcomed immediately by you and Jerky when you picked us up from the bus station, and I really appreciated everything that you did.
I can’t explain with words all the fun that I had these past 10 days, but I’m really looking forward to meeting you again…I’ll be back in Boston ASAP!

Jerky: You too man, you are the greatest…you are so fucking funny and an incredible nice person…thanks for everything for driving us around for burgers to organizing and making me feel welcomed as soon as I met you.
You are also an excellent VF player and you play an awesome Jacky…I had a great time playing against you and only luck made me beat you in the tournament.
And my god what a fucking beast of a TV you have, dude I just had to ask how you brought that motherfucker down that shit was huge…lol
Thanks again for everything, and I’m really looking forward to meet you again!

Mr. Bungle: Dude I don’t think I saw you play at all…but I heard from Jerky that you were a force to be reckoned with in VF3, either way it was nice to meet you!

Sanjuro: lol dude you were so fucking awesome…to have you and Bigboy as roommates was just hilarious.
It was awesome to hang out with you and talk about just whatever, you play a mean Akira\Jeff and you know so much about the game.
I really had the best time hanging out with you, and just listening to all the crazy shit that you were talking about.
Oh…and when you and Bigboy started watching Dirty Harry 0700 in the morning, dude that will be a golden moment for the rest of my life. LOL

BigBoy: Same thing as Sanjuro…you were awesome to hang out with, and you had a great Lau, which you showed for real the day after the tournament…lol great timing!
Just listening to you and Sanjuro talk about different stuff was worth the trip alone, it was a privilege to get to know you guys, and I’m looking forward to the next time we meet again!

Oioron: Nice to meet you dude, you played really good with Lion…if you only get more experience from CTF you are good to go man, hopefully we’ll play each other even more the next time we meet, which I’m really looking forward to.
“A man’s got to know his limitations†lol

SuperG: Yeah next time we’ll have that battle…lol, it was great to meet you and you play really well with several characters. And you sure like that d\f PPP with Jacky…lol
I’m looking forward to meet your brother sometime in the future as well, either way we’ll meet again hopefully some time in the near future!
Oh nice that you brought that TV with you as well, the more setups the better.

Cruzlink: Great Shun! Seriously I think that you played really well…it was also awesome to hang out with you…the first time I met you it felt like I had known you for 10 years it was strange…lol.
I’m really looking forward to the next time we meet; meanwhile kick some more ass with Shun!

Raziel & Hayato: It was nice to meet you guys, I think that you played really well but just lack the experience…keep playing at CTF and you’ll beat me to death the next time we meet.
You are both very cool and chill to hang out with, and Raziel dude…that phone of yours was ringing at all hours of the day…night, day, afternoon or whatever that shit was ringing…lol
I’m looking forward to I meet you guys again!

IronJunkie: nice nickname man…you are very cool…very chill and friendly…your Goh was very very good and you only need some more experience before you start tearing things up.
I had a great time hanging out with you and Dobi and I’m really looking forward to it if you guys make it to Shanghai.
Thanks for driving me around, the good games and all the laughs…I’m looking forward to get the beat down by your Goh!

Dobi: Congratulations on 4th place in the tournament! That was well deserved!
You play a great Lion, very quick and hard to handle…I really hope that you guys can make it to Shanghai…it would be fucking awesome to hang out with guys again.
You are a very friendly and fun guy to hang out with; I’ll send you an e-mail as soon as I’m finished with this report.
Oh and thanks for bringing that projector of yours, that was gold!

Llanfair/ Kbcat: Very nice to meet you guys, Llanfair your Pai is very good and so fast; I had so much fun playing against you. I’m sorry to hear that the scene in Toronto is fading away, hopefully you guys can do something about it…your too good to stop playing now! Kbcat you have a great Brad dude, very tricky and it’s hard to read your patterns.
I don’t think we played that many games against each other, so hopefully we can do something about that the next time we meet.
I’m looking forward to the next time we meet!

Myke: Cool to finally meet you, also an Arsenal fan as my brother…congratulations with the Premier League trophy!
Your Brad was a beast, lots of stuff that I haven’t seen before; I was hoping to play more against your Brad to get more experience against him, either way it was nice to meet you and hopefully both of us can make the same NA event in the future!

Siyko: Another great Shun player, you were impressive man also when you think of the short time that you have played the game.
Keep this pace up and you’ll be a monster for sure, I had much fun playing against your Shun…I would have loved to see a death-match between you and Cruzlink, that would have been very interesting.
Either way it was great to meet you and we’ll see each other again for sure!

Hyun: Very nice to meet you also, you play very much like Adam IMO, very good defense.
Thanks for organizing the event and all the trouble you’ll go through with the DVD; I’m looking forward to the next time we meet!

Vith_Dos: Dude that match between you and Shang was the best match in the tournament in my opinion, you played amazing with Aoi in that fight…why didn’t you use her in the second match of the tournament?
You were also a very friendly and funny guy; and good luck on your Game-Café project!

Vulcan: Real life Jeffry, it was nice to meet you man…and I’ll definitely let TommyT know that I met you, if I meet him.
You should come down to Norway someday man.

Ghetto-Shun: I love your hair man…lol…dude it was a privilege to get to meet all the NY guys.
You play a very scary Vanessa, your defense is top notch, and it’s incredibly difficult to beat you.
I felt that we played evenly the day before the tournament, but under the tournament you stepped up and showed everyone that you are the man…lol.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to play each other on Thursday, but I had a great time just to hang out with you and the rest of the NY guys.
You are also a very funny dude, and I was so impressed that you actually had visited Oslo…and fucked the chicks there…way to represent…lol
I’m really looking forward to we meet again, I had a great time in New York!
Also congratulations on winning the tournament!

Konjou Akira: So Nice So Tight! Man you have a powerhouse Akira, you are an amazing VF player and truly an incredible cool guy to hang out and talk with.
I had the best time on Thursday before I left for Shanghai, and I wish that I could stay in US even longer so I could play all of you guys even more.
You are also incredibly funny guy and I can’t wait until we meet again!
Oh and that one combo you did, holy shit that was nice…I had never seen it before.

CrewTW: Yeah nice to meet man, you have a fantastic apartment…and it will probably be totally bad ass when you are done fixing it up.
I had a great time playing and hanging out with you, and your Lau was awesome and I learned lots of stuff from you.
I had a great time on Thursday, and I can’t wait until we all meet again, hang out and play VF.

AdamYuki: The fucking god of defense, it was a fucking task just to get a hit on you man…lol. Congratulations on second place in the tournament!
Thanks for everything that you did for us, and the hospitality shown by the NY and Boston crews are just incredible, I loved every second of being in US and much of that goes to all of you guys.
Adam your Jeffry is the fucking rock, and you are one funny guy also…DOBBEL BARREL!!
I’m really looking forward to meeting you again and play and get my ass handed to by Jeffry!

Kazu: I have always downloaded the videos that come up with you online, I have always liked the way that you play, and it was very entertaining to play against you, and you definitely have a fucking incredible Lau. So nice So tight so say at least, it was awesome to meet you, play VF and hang out and I’m looking forward to the next time!

All in all this was probably my best Virtua Fighter experience so far, the tournament was great, the people were amazing and everything was just awesome.
I will definitely be back in the US, not just one time but I will try and make this something frequent.
I have nothing but positive things to say about this, and it was money well spent…even though I spent a lot.
The only thing that fucked me up was the 12 hour time difference, so I was tired the whole time that I was there…but that’s nothing you can do about anyway.

Boston City:

Very nice city, reminded me a little about Oslo, the weather is very much a like…also in the winter from what I heard.
The people were very friendly and definitely a city that I would recommend for others to visit.
I also visited the Museum of Science, which was great very interesting shit going on there.
Unfortunately we were too late to watch any of the shows so we just wandered around the museum, I searched for Jerky but he was no where to be found…lol.

New York:

One incredibly big city, very different from Shanghai…it’s clean, fresh air, you can actually see the blue sky which you can’t see in Shanghai because of all the pollution that is going on here.
I saw the sight of the World Trade Center, the statue of liberty and just the regular life going on around New York.
It was a great city, when I first got there it was so big that it was almost frightening…but the more time you spend there the better it gets imo.
Oh and the women, oh my god…in China you only have Chinese women but in NY you have everything.
And if you want Chinese women you can go to China Town…too good.

I’m tired of writing now, so if I have forgot to mention anyone let me know!

Thanks again to everyone for making this something to remember!
Oh and if anyone wants to come to Norway, you are more than welcome!
