Folks this is how it should be done. Sega get a clue!!!
Although UFC 2010/2011 is not an arcade fighter, Deez boyz
do it right, the right support for the community. They listen to the playerz, they let you know the future of the franchise. Although you can't find me playing VF5 for the PS3 online, We can get busy with some mixed martial arts via UFC 2010 and soon to be UFC 2011

    Sega Here's The RIGHT Way!!!!!

I see where you're going with this, but UFC's not a fighting game... It's a sports game...

Okay, Jinx its a sports game where the sport is fighters competing using mixed martial arts. Fair enough. But that's not my point.

My point is that game producer keeps the fans informed. They listen to the fans, this listen to the mixed martial arts community, they make adjustments to upcoming games based on feedback from top players and some casual players. They share with the fans what they believe the short term, mid term, and long term future of the game is.

FN Sega speaks in riddles and parables. Perhaps they listen to the Japanese arcade community, but they certainly could give a damn about the world wide console community. The point
of my post was to just show some of my fellow VFDCers what it really looks like to have support from the game producer. Some might be aware, but some of our players play nothing else but VF and so they aren't aware of what a healthy relationship between game publisher and community can look like, because all they have is Sega as an example [IMG]

Sega sux, what a shame they are the ones that hold the license to Virtua Fighter.

UFC 2011 coming soon...[/size]. Yes it is a sport, but the sport features fighting using mixed martial arts. No its not an arcade fighter, but it is an extreeeemly deep combat simulation game. I've said this b4.

Virtua Fighter and the UFC games are complements to each other

Virtua Fighter offers what UFC 2010/2011 is missing.
UFC 2010/2011 offers what Virtua Fighter is missing.

As far as the 3D fighting experience goes, if you have VF, Soul Caliber,UFC, and Fight Night you've got the complete experience, no other game is necessary, and the other ones that are out there don't measure up.

For my friends and foes out there I highly recommend trying these UFC 2009/2010 (if you haven't already) these are very rich and deep and enjoyable games. Especially for some of the more technically minded players we have on VFDC. Our comfort zone is talking about frames, advantage, disadvantage combo starters, etc but if you put those down for a minute and look at these UFC fighters you will find that in their own ways they
are just as technical , just as deep, and they reward the extra time and investment made with higher game play levels just like VF does.

If Sega doesn't wanna do things like that, then you can't really do much about it... I'm pretty sure they're aware of Capcom, Namco, Aksys/Arcsys, and even now SNKp's involvement with the FG communities worldwide... If they don't wanna learn from them and stay archaic in their business mindset, then oh well...

I personally feel MMA is overrated, but that in itself is for another thread... I've tried the UFC games, even way back on the Dreamcast, and it's just not my cup o' tea. Plus, I didn't see any Wing Chun or Boran Muay Thai practicioners, so that kinda killed my interest in it as well...

I guess its wishful thinking hoping that maybe this time Sega will listen. You're right though we can't force 'em, but is ironic Sega sits on the best fighter but has the worse PR of any fighting game producer.

I go back to K1-Grand-Prix Kick boxing on PS2. At first I didn't dig it either, and then after I picked up VF4 for the PS2, I definitely put it down for a few years. But I picked it back up at UFC 2009 and it grew on me. Once I stopped trying to compare it to VF and I stopped looking for evades and throw escapes, and combos, then I started to see what it was all about. Now I realize the games are complements of each other.

As far as Wing Chun and Boran Muay Thai , the good thing about
THQ is they listen to the community, and its entirely possible that if enough ppl make those a request you could see
some movement in that direction. Hell, the fact that they allowed you to design your own movesets in UFC2010 was totally awesome. So I build a fighter with heavy Muay Thai, and Judo, kind-a Goh with Muay Thai thrown in.

My initial response was that it wasn't my cup of tea either, after picking it up, then putting it down, waiting awhile, waiting for VF5R and VF5FS, and then picking it up again, I've definitely changed my mind. Now the idea of a stand up game, a clinch game, a throw game, a grapple game, and a ground game really keeps things interesting. Especially Online!

If I'm being destroyed in the grapple and ground game, then I try to keep things standing up (which is a skill in an of itself). If the guy is a better boxer than me, I try to go for clinch and muay thai knees and elbows, If I can't pull those, I'll use Judo throws to bring the guy's energy and stamina so low until I can end the fight however I choose. now that I understand a little more about the MMA philosophy, I'm diggin the game more and more.

I guess that would be the case for a lot of VF players. at first the UFC game would suck, it would seem slow. Like me I was looking for combo capabilities, back dashes, and side steps, and there was none of that, so I would put the game down and only periodically revisit it to see what the hype was about, now that I realize its totally a different kind of fighting game in its own right, with its own set of rules, and should not be compared with VF or SC. Now it makes sense. And I'm feelin all the options and the depth of the gameplay. But TBH, that took a while [IMG]

Namco has already been listening to their fans for Tekken. Having a fighting game producer who cares is certainly nothing new.

Namco has its problems, but as it goes with fighting games, they are much closer to their console community/consumers than Sega is.

I probably wouldn't complain if VF5 felt complete. For example when I had VF4 Evo it felt fairly complete. When VF4 final tuned came out, sure I was interested, but I wasn't completely bumbed out because it never came to consoles.

On the other hand, VF5 PS3 get the arcade port part right, but other wise the game feels incomplete,

That VF.TV,VF.NET feature we all know that its not even close to the real VF.TV/VF.NET not even close!

Dojo mode is missing stuff. For example the animation for every single move a character can make is in VF4 and VF4 EVO while browsing the movelist when in Dojo mode. In VF5 only some of the moves are implemented the majority are just left out. It like they ran out of time.

Straps and belts missing for the items. For example Lei Fei's Monk staff and spade just kind of stick to his back. In VF4 EVO Items that needed straps and belts had those part drawn as part of the item. in VF5 items just-kind-a stick to the character. If feels unfinished.

Replays implemented in some modes, other modes missing the replay feature (e.g. Quest Mode) Replays were there in VF4 EVO VF5 seams rushed and unfinished on the replay front.

I don't want to comment on the gameplay, because that can always be tweaked here or there, but its the quality of everything that's not gameplay that gives you the perception of whether the game is finished or polished.

No online on for VF5 PS3 but online capability for XBox 360??
VF5 PS3 just feels unifinished, Sega, just doesn't seem to care [IMG]
