Hi all, I'm just a noob from indo.
I've played vf4 evo only to find that there is no vf community in my city...so I stopped playing for a while, then came vf5! zomg, its so good, and I finally manage to find a community this time. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

so, I really want to play as wolf, but I'm facing lots of difficulty to win against faster characters, especially brad.
I can win vs jacky, or akira, or eileen...but not brad! his sway moves are so tricky, I ate so many counter hits just trying to low poke him.
Plus my friend who uses brad is very aggressive, so I got outpoked everytime I try to throw him.

I love to do low jab ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif ), throw_ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif mixups..but it doesn't work against brad. any tips? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

ps: sorry for my poor english, it's not even a second language in my country. :p

    How is your jab hitting?

If they hit you out of a knee after you hit with low punch then you should attack with something faster like screw hook, reverse hammer or even elbow butt.

It sounds like this Brad player constantly attacks. Trying to throw him will get you nowhere. I can't offer any advice but to evade his attacks and punish.

Screw hook is your best weapon vs. faster characters. A good thing to do with characters you're having trouble fighting is to do command training with them if you have ps3, learn their moves so you know what might come next, block/evade it, then punish it.

Wolf is my best character, but even i take a lot of punishment to my girlfriend who favours the likes of Lion and Brad.

I had to change my gameplan of been a close in grappler to being a striker against her choice of characters.
Wolf has been tuned this time in VF5 with a lot of strikes, screw hook then follow up with punishing combos definatly!

or block a flurry and then go in for a evade grab the overhead belly to belly or Angle Slam which ever side you are on.
Forward P+K (shoulder charge) can hit 3 times and does considerable damage and can be followed easily do which ever down attacks you wish.

Also D/F G+K (Standing Side Kick,) can put an opponent easily at distance and hit reasonably quick, if youre quick and it connects go immediatly to D+K (low dropkick, as youre facing away) then finish up with D/F+G+P (Nightmare on Helms Street/Final Cut) Does work in VF4 Evo except the down grapple is a release German Suplex instead of NOHS/FC commands are the same.

U/F+P+K, F+K (the kitchen sink style Knee) followed by back, forward G+K (rolling sobat i think its called) is a high damage combo i've found invaluable.

Also the Enziguri (U+G+K)hitting wickedly fast, catches so many off guard.

Hope thats a help to you, Brad can be a pain.

If your main gameplay consists of mixups after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, then as far as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif might be a good option, it comes out in 17 frames, while Screw hook (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) hits in 14.
Both of those moves leave you at -8 when blocked so it's a guessing game from here on if that happens, HOWEVER Screw Hook is a half circular, therefore it limits your opponents' options in some way.

Also if you have problems throwing, then simply try to evade more and then throw. I play Wolf a lot, but Brad is my main character, so I know that he can be a pain in the ass. Whenever you see/know that Brad is doing his long side slides, it's not the best, but /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif has worked great for me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif (if you react fast enough).
Whenever Brad attacks from his normal slides to the side(I use him but I have NO idea what are the abreviations for his "stances") a fast crouch-back-dash works miracles.

    Now, for Wolf's useful moves.
You've probably heard it a lot, but here it goes again... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
It's not a fast move so don't use it TOO often, but hell...
-it offers a decent combo damage (i.e./forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif)
-it's only -2 on guard, so if you buffer screw hook by mistake, it beats 17 frames moves /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
-it beats lows INCLUDING LP, and if you guess right, it is great against low rising attacks (if your opponent uses them)

Next one is of course Screw Hook for obvious reasons (14f, half circular, launches a bit on counter)

    Elbow Butt /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (15f, slams on normal hit, -4 on block, careful, it's a high /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif )

Some ppl might not agree here, but /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is quite good after evading some moves, if you follow up with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

That's only some of them, and hey, if you really want to use a 17 frames move after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif then go for /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead of knee. This one at least offers a combo on normal hit.

And just for fun..... I use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif Why? I know it's slow and it hits high, but it's unblockable and hits even from quite long distances.... it's easy to surprise ppl with it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Good luck with your wolf...
And please... if this brad player uses LP to stop you, teach him/her not to with your HUGE advantage... The Shining Wizzard!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Oooops... forgot about something.... use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif....sometimes...often... just use it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Actually, don't underestimate the value of LP...

If your opponent is constantly attacking, you can just keep LP'ing. Unless your opponent is just stupid, he will do something like evade or block.

Screwhook takes good execution, and it's very difficult to hit check on normal crouch hit.

Knee is simply too slow in many cases especially against characters with fast 10 frame punch.

Why don't you just keep on LP'ing until he stops? Then simply go for any of Wolf's big damage throws.

I usually keep my distance vs. Brad. Although KristianTNA points out that Wolf has more moves in VF5 they are also much slower compared to basically every character, so when in doubt just go back to basics and poking (LP, 4k, screw hook imo are most effective)until you see an opening.

Actually all in all Wolf has got so many new things IMO, and so many of them really strong that there were some fights during which, after about 10 seconds (about 2 juggles/actions/throws) my friend was like... No hope! Where the fuck is my life bar !?

Whatever the tactics and moves... it's hell of a fun playing Wolf /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Sorry for the offtopic :p

thank u so much for your replies. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I think I should re-learn the basics of vf. I practically play only by instincts until now..

ooh..and I thought /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is faster than screw hook, silly me.
yea, I love /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, but more often than not, I got poked mid air, and it made my wolf floating....waiting to be juggled. lol.

one more thing...how do u set up the deadly move? it's so slow.. I've been trying to do it after an MC /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and the op tech rolls..yet I constantly got hit by by brad's knee...or akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

kay, I really want to try your tips, looking fwd to the next gathering.. ^^

yea, wolf is hella strong. You should rarely use Deadly Move. it can be used to punish missed rising attack though. but there are easier and more effective ways to do it. (66pk is one)

I take it back. Deadlly Move is awesome when you know how to use it:D So far I've seen it's good vs missed rising and techrollers. I've tried doing it randomly and good players will just poke you out of it:( but it's always fun.
