A Rivalry Has Arrived! Juicebox (BR) vs. Chanchai (LI)

A RIVALRY HAS ARRIVED!
I am marking this moment, Juicebox has caught up to me in our matchup! If I don't train hard, he will steamroll me going forward! Here is our session this morning (from his angle), with viewer chat and post match thoughts!

Because of the way Juicebox trains/learns/builds up... This does not mean he has arrived for some other matchups with veterans. But he's really not that far off, but this guy is hard focus, one matchup at a time!

In 6 months, we have a rivalry! Usually it takes 2 years!

This view of the battle was great as it included commentary and tips from the chat audience and reflections by the players and audience afterward! Always an honor to fight Juicebox, he is getting so strong so fast and I think he made better decisions than me on this day, he just didn't convert all of those decisions into higher damage. But next time he will!

If I do not improve, Juicebox's Brad will be steamrolling me going forward! And his Goh will be pure hell! ANOTHER TRUE RIVAL HAS ARRIVED!

Juicebox (Brad) vs. Chanchai (Lion) II

From the perspective of Juicebox's Livestream is this battle between Juicebox and Chanchai. Last week I officially called it a rivalry and this match furthers the case!

Juicebox's Brad comes back with improved damage, more insight in how to use Brad against Lion, and having accomplished some of the goals Juicebox had set. Chanchai's Lion has been fighting very aggressive monsters and been working on processing the close exchanges in VF a little faster and dealing with the unique tools of other characters like DS Vanessa, Akira, and Lau.

Both fighters come into this match with a lot of training in the past week and fought this serious back and forth battle in front of a lot of viewers! An exciting battle!

From Juicebox FGC's Twitch and on the eve of a wonderful VF SoCal Trip for Juicebox, we fight some sets!

We have sparred a little bit since our second 1v1 session and both of us have improved a lot in the past month. I know Juicebox is going to have an amazing time playing offline VF with some of the finest players in NA, in Los Angeles. It is going to be an amazing experience. I am glad we were able to have this battle before his big trip! Thanks for the matches, Juice, have an awesome time in SoCal--wish I could be there too!

Regarding Chanchai vs. Juicebox III, I should probably address a few things in the video.

• There's a moment where Lion and Brad both uppercut at the same time and it frustrates Juicebox that Brad's uppercut lost out and he cites some stats. My guess is that in Juicebox's matchup notes, he wrote down Lion's uppercut as being 16 frames, maybe because he was factoring in an assumption that the uppercut is being used while Lion is alreayd standing up and not crouched. This move is 15 frames from a crouch position. In the video, both players 2P each other at the same time and both get damaged, they were both crouching and both inputted uppercuts. Lion's uppercut is faster by 1 frame in this case. I think how frame tight this is and how we are playing shows we have a pretty good or decent connection.
  
  
• Later on there is a moment where Juicebox is frustrated that Lion's uppercut (2_3P) wins a situation after Lion's 2P is blocked. This uppercut has had this property for a long time (since VF2, I believe) but it's hard to pin down the exact circumstances. I believe that Final Showdown readjusted this move by allowing it to have a weird ability to win certain situations and that it cheats less against Kicks like it used to, and more against things like high punch, and elbow. In the case of Lion vs. Brad, it's not the same situation as mentioned in the video, but in closed stance Lion can interrupt Brad's elbow after Brad blocks a 2P.
  
  
• I am going to state here that I honestly play VF online the way I play if offline. From 2013 - 2020 I did not play online, and I did like Final Showdown's netcode on console but it felt different enough to me from offline play that I was worried it would pollute my offline play. In January of 2021 I began playing online again (via Parsec) because I watched some matches of Parsec battles and they looked a lot more similar to offline matches.
  
  
• I had a wonderful time with these matches and I wish Juicebox an awesome time in SoCal!

At the end of summer, Juicebox and I had another series of tough sets!

This time, with Juicebox's Pai which has been growing incredibly strong in one month following his trip to Los Angeles where he fought players such as Mechzdeus, Phoxxx, Montage, LA Akira, Cobratron, Adam Yuki, and Gentleman Thief!

The battles were a blast even though it capped a very long day for both of us!

On the Juicebox Stream, we do some tech discussion after the matches ^_^
