Awesome, great to see my man Adam is still a top player! Look it that, a supposed C-tier character is the champ; that's a testament to VF5's balance.

I do agree with this. Jeff definitely has tools but Adnan makes it look easy with him and it is not. It's Adnan's ability to play the game, adapt and force his opponent's choices that make Jeff look good and VF5 balanced.

Uhm, it's the same thing. When the best player wins despite using a character considered low tier, it's support showing that the game is balanced.

* Tournament won based on player ability = good game balance

* Tournament won based on character selection = bad game balance

No, I really do not believe this is the same thing. To use this as a claim that vf is so awesomely balanced, is crazy. A top player can take a less powerful/balanced character and win is a testament to the players understanding of the game, his mind game, and, to an extent, the competition he is facing. There have been people in almost every video game that have won with non-top tier characters.
Anyways, this discussion is not exactly on topic...

 

Why don't we just ask the winner himself and see what he thinks? I am sure Adam will agree he won based on his determination, mind games and his ability to adapt. VF5 is in no way balanced and while Jeffry may not be as strong as Akira, Lei, etc, he definitely makes for it in terms of damage. If people want to keep over looking how much life Jeffry can suck out of you from one combo then that's up to them to continue to be in denial. Now with that said and what was said even earlier, Adam won because of his determination to excel and his incredible ability to adapt/read his opponents. Being able to read/adapt to your opponents combined with high damage combos is a force not to be fucked with. This is in no way a passage to discredit him or his ability, but to make Ice-9 STFU because he has no clue what he is talking about yet again. Love you Jeff, but damn give it a rest. Jeffry is not weak! He definitely is not fantasy compared to most characters, but he is far from weak and even Adam will tell you his knowledge of VF5 is not all that great. He knows a lot that's for sure, but knowledge alone doesn't win you matches. If that's the case I should be in a US class of my very own. The man won by his belief in his ability/skill... nothing more.

Erm...I don't know if I'm in CRAZY LAND or what, but everything you wrote supports my point. Adam won because of his skill, not because Jeffry is a top-tier character. If he really wanted to bad enough, he can win with Akira, Lei Fei, Goh, Aoi, Brad, whoever, because he is a superior player. And....that's why VF is balanced, because your character choice is unimportant compared to your yomi, skill and determination. That's why Adam is the champ...because he has those things, not because he picked Jeffry.

I think the character matches how the person plays if I picked Lei I wouldn't be good trust me I tried hes just too foreign and weird for me. I think Adam wouldn't have won if he used everyone else and I'm not discrediting him as a player. Adam picks the character that works best with his Play style his play style wouldn't match good with Jacky or Lei IMO its just how the game works

Ice-9 you saying the game is balance just because Adam won is like me saying the game is unbalanced when I won Buy.com unless you forgot I beat you with a Character I didn't know anything about just because I knew he was strong what made it worst was that he was your main character lol..I was trying to repeat that at NYG by picking Jeffery but lost

This thread is just for fun I guess. Everyone shouldn't be too serious about it~ But I agree with Denkai and Konjou, nice words both of you. Take a look at the result, and I won't be surprised if any of these top 5 players became the champ. Especially like what Denkai said, the final match was based on Jeffry VS Jeffry.
There is no meaning to discuss coz the final champ will always belongs to Jeffry. adamYUKI didn't prove VF is balanced, however, he proved that he deserves to be one of the best players on US!!!

 

Everyone knows the game isn't balanced, but it's good enough. If a Lion or Sarah player won this tourney would it be such a big deal? The character doesn't matter as much as who's using them. Great job though Adam. I caught a few matches online and you were on fiyah.
