After getting my ass handed to me on a plate a few weeks ago fighting this VERY devastating mixup Akira [he kept using sidestepping moves from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif & /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif as well as not sidestepping, reads my attempted counterattack, and simply interrupts whatever I do.

I started copying him and both he and myself were impressed. I had no idea how NASTY Akira can be in just rushing down considering he has no combo ability like other characters do. Real depth to fighting if you ask me.

What have you done to react to a good player's game? Note: if you're losing to someone who's spamming a single scrub tactic, you can probably ask how to beat it in this thread.

I want to see how your Akira's change pace to other players. My worst matchups seem to involve highly mobile Lion's and Sarahs. This one Jacky I fought was 79 wins, 2 losses, and he was VERY good at that evasive backstep that even gets away from SDE... How does one deal with that?

My very first set vs someone online was vs Krsjin, I didnt know what to do against alot of things he did because I was very new to the game(I still am) But It showed me alot about the game that i had not even thought of. Which was great. I didnt exactly adapt to his fighting style, More i studied it. watching the possible options and moves that he could make and remember them for fighting other players.

First time fighting konjou akira's akira was awesome though, we played for 2 hours straight and i started to learn so much more about akira's mix up game. I started to adapt to his offense and forced him to take to defense a little bit. Was pretty proud of that fact but he still beat my face in.

Whenever I get into a pinch a start sidestepping people's attacks and try to go for a mid dashing elbow or a throw to catch them off guard.

I agree it's difficult to do a lot of mixups with Akira since he doesn't have a lot of attack strips like other characters.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say here because Akira is an absolute combo-monster in the right hands. Yoho combos have become a little weakened on MWs in VF5 due to shrm not floating anymore but he has new easy damage options because of the floor bounce on /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (giving easy dbpm as a follow up) amongst other things.

If you have someone who is repeatedly back dashing or evading your sde then you're doing it too predictably. You need to either bait people to do something then punish or utilise other mid range options.

I think he is talking about strings..

ps. Yoho - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif-DLC. I think you can insert punch or two in there too. More damage than what P ShRm DbPm would have done.

ps. I think playing too much online has a derogatory effect on my skills.. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

pps. Evading Akira is nothing to laugh at... He is SO easy to evade.

True dat. That's when you start doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/n.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and when your opponent steps wrong, WHAM...

    GOOD TIMES...

I also abuse the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif pull-in mixup. One time I did it twice in a row before doing the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif finish which was quite humorous to see.

Michishio I think we've played online before GT sonnyftc.

Anywayz, someone earlier mentiond Krsjin. Hes my training partner if u will lol, so im guessin u played his jacky. I guess these strats might be specific towards him cause ive never really playd any other good jacky as much as his but wit his jacky i have to stay patient and read his strings and side steps. Krsjin plays way aggressive so if u plan shit out u can get those counter SDE in or evade yoho and go into combo of ur choice.

Also if ur getting evaded alot on ur sde's u need to slow it down a bit and bait a side step, do a delayd attack, i like to do either a delayd /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif,
or a delayed(i usually do a crouch dash for the delay...and if they dont actually evade but they do a high attack u get a counter hit off that aswell) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif just outta habit.

The char i have most trouble wit are Lei Fei and Lion. I guess leifei has to do wit his stances and i misjudge distances when he goes into them.

Im not really a rush akira, so I just feel akira is better played more patiently rather than bulldogin :p cause if u get sidestep..oh boy u take damage.

Well i just wrote alot of random stuff hope that helps anyone lol

I didn't notice that was half circular. Yay! Now I have another move to use on those Wolf players that spam Wolfs evading throw.

yeah, that double fist is awesome...

One question, on people waking up, does he have a quick attack to crush wakeup kicks [both of them?]

I think /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gifis one of the moves I'm underusing for Okizeme but I've only been able to successfully use it when they MISS a wakeup kick. [striking their extended feet]

Also, is it just me or are wakeup kicks like 1ft. extentions of a person's God-damn feet?! I mean seriously, I'm over 3 body lengths' away and in the replay I KNOW the foot hit air, and I'm still getting hit with them.

What moves does Akira have that can outright CRUSH a wakeup attack?

well, The best option to completely beat out wake up attempts is to simply dash back and make them whiff. Then punish the whiff with instant double palm or something. If I KNOW someone is going to wake up i use 66kk, it completely beats out both wake up kicks but you have to time it properly

Any move that does more damage than a wakeup attack will crush it if timed properly. Watch this vid at 0:39 - I use KNEE to beat the rising attack.

When attacking a wake up attack at what point do u want to attack them? If the opponent delays the wake up attack does it effect the timing? Can u crush both low and high wake up attacks or just the high?

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif Double Fist can crush any wakeup I'm guessing. It hits feckin' hard.

I'm also guessing at point blank, I can outright stuff the kick whether it's mid or low wakeup kick.

The goal is to aim for face up, head towards position right? To get the slowest wakeup kick to be crushed?

His 1 frame knee and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif also work nicely. Just hard to time. Obviously the standing single palm against mid rising attacks.
