After VF 4 Evo

What do you think will be the next step in the VF series? I am referring to the next fighter, not a VF rpg.

I am wondering if next year will there be a VF 4 Evo Version B type game. I hope they don't do a spinoff of the HAB mode either. Or will they just wait for VF 5 (this is what I hope). I am also kind of wondering why they made Evo. Or are they affraid to start work on 5? I just worried about them going down Capcom's road like between SF 2 and SF 3.

Also, does anyone have a negative opinion of Evo besides the memory card issue? I don't import and I have not seen an Evo machine around where I live so I don't know everything about it. From what I've read the new chars, gameplay and moves are more balanced than before. Personally, I think the 2 new characters have somewhat of a Tekken flavor to them...
(looks wise, I haven't played with them yet)

Just interested to hear more about what people think

You're right, the two new characters have similarities to tekken characters. Gameplay wise though, they're very VF.

Right now, I'm not really speculating much about VF5 yet. I'm just looking forward for Evo to come out on PS2. Seriously, I don't think there's anything more that I would want of VF. I'm very satisfied as is. Of course, Yu Susuki will probably amaze once VF5 is anounced.

As far as gameplay, I don't have complaints. Tweaking of the story would be nice.

Brad has sort of a tekken look to him, but to me he doesn't seem out of place and doesn't fight like a tekken character at all. At first glance I thought he was simple to use, but after using him I discovered he was quite complex. Goh is the opposite of Brad (based on throws instead of strikes), but i think he's still balanced. You have to wait instead of rushing down like with Brad.

The current Evo is version B. IMO, this is what the original VF4 should have been. I don't think we'll see anything new until VF5.

Oops, see I don't have any arcade experience here so I forgot it was version B (I have a console mindset)
    .
But yea I'm not thinking about VF 5 at all, but I do hope its the next that is released-years from now. Some may think its wierd to not want a new VF 4 Evo every year, but like I said above I don't want in 5 years to have 5 different VF 4s. Then by the time VF 5 comes out, its just another improvment from the previous VF 4. Personally this is what I thought of the SF series. There were so many different SF's before SF3 came out by the time it did come out it wasn't a big deal. And then there were 3 different versions on the DC, not to mention all the Capcom Vs. I don't want to see anything like this happen to VF . I loved when sequels were revolutionary.

Even though I haven't played Evo, I'm just really eager to buy it. I think Sega should stop tweaking VF4 after this one. It's good enough.
Heck, even ver.C was good enough for me and would have gladly settled with it. But of course Evo seems better and more and better.

Still, I think AM2 should start working on VF5, if they haven't already. Enough of perfected VF4. It's good enough for now.

Given AM2's development cycles tend to run for years (how long was the gap between VC2 and VC3?), it's obvious VF5 is a ways off yet. I've heard about a bazillion different rumors as to some sort of new fighting game they may or may not be working upon. We'll see if anything comes of those. Right now, the work seems to be going to VF Quest and possibly Outrun 2.

Of course, everyone know the fighting game I want out of them so I'll shut the hell up about it. XP

Last year I remember that Suzuki-san announced VF Quest for GameCube .I wonder what happened to that game?!?! (By the way I would like to ask to someone who played VF4 Evo if it features ending movies ? Don't tell me again that there are no ending movies!! Maybe we have to wait for VF quest or something to see some story.{nandayo kusoo}!!)
My big wish is that I want to see VF 5 featuring at least 3 new characters!! At least 3 new characters and 3 new styles!!! Where is VF5?
Zero-chan I would like to ask You if You have heard any rumors about VF5 for chichiro-hardware release? I was impressed by the graphics of Virtua Cop 3.
Any rumors about a special VF release? This year is the 10th anniversary-> they should prepare something special, shouldn't they! /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I bet that VF5 will come out after the PS3 does, and the Naomi 3 along with it.

I'm not so sure VF5 will be a huge departure from VF4 and Evo. I remember an interview with Yu Suzuki just after VF4 was released, when he stated that VF series had taken on a life of its own and couldn't change that much because users expected the series to be a certain way. He used the analogy of a Ferrari car - the Italian car fans expect improvements in the next model but don't want the brand to diverge too much.

He then went on to say he was thinking about some form of weapons based martrial arts game, implying that he'd use this game to showcase fundamentally different gameplay from VF.

Suzuki has a big mouth, that and he doesnt have much say in what happens with AM2 and its games these days.

    VF system review!

    VF1 and 2 - Sega Genesis (2D), Sega Saturn (3D), PC

    VF3/Tb - Sega Dreamcast

    VF4/Evolution - Sony Playstation 2

VF5 - Arcade (duh), Sony Console (probably), Nintendo Console (doubtful), Microsoft Console (maybe, Evo was rumored to be on X-box), PC/Mac (doubt it).

    VF Quest- Gamecube (most likely)

With each next game, they put it on a different console, because as they make a new VF game, they update the arcade boards it uses.

If there are anymistakes or ommisions on the list, just let me know and post 'em, thanks!

In what way? Surely Suzuki has huge control over AM2's output. Most of their big hits over the past few years - F355, Shenmue, Virtua Fighter 4 - have been projects directed by Yu, and the big future tiles - Outrun 2, VF5 and Shenmue 3 - seem likely to be under his wing.

His name is on there yes but his actual input is not.
People like Ishikawa, Kataoka, katagiri etcetera are responsible for the megahits, not Suzuki.
Suzuki much like Miyamoto has become a pr poster boy, a figurehead.

You might be right about Suzuki (doubt it though), but you are dead wrong about Miyamoto, he works his ass off for Nintendo, and while he is not a primary developer anymore, he is the best business figurehead that Nintendo has had in a while, and an asset to the companies sucess.

At last years E3, the reason most people listened to the Wave Bird controller speech, was to talk to Miyamoto and ask him questions, nor to hear about the controller. He probably had the most interviews at E3 last year. Between pushing Zelda, Mario, and Metroid, he has done his fair share of work.

Thats what I meant when I said he is a PR poster boy ya dolt.
He doesnt make games and his involvement with em is quite low.
He is in managment and PR, others make em and he promotes em and puts his name on em becouse the name Miyamoto sells games.
