oh my fucking god, does anyone understand the search feature

press both buttons simultaneously and release G after 1 frame, ie: graze the G button with your finger while doing a standard button press on K

with a joystick, this involves a quick roll of the hand across the buttons, with a pad, i dunno.. same just youd have to be holding it in a strange way

Sorry to say this, but there isn't a trick to it or an easy way of doing it. Brushing the guard helps, but not much. You just have to be insanely (and I mean insane. Insane like wearing a pumpkin, the same pumpkin, on your head for the rest of your life. Insane like you think that the vipers stole your brain insane.) fast. I think it is the only move I have NEVER seen performed in versus. You are not alone.

Sorry for not searching. I did it a couple of time but it is too hard to do so im just gonna forget about it. I can do all other moves with relative ease but this move is it hard to do consistantly. I find that the DLC is much easier.

After I read your post, I'd like to give you some hope on this. The move doesn't need insanely fast hands. I think anyone can pull this move off, if the person knows the trick.
Just press K and G at the same time and then just lift your thumb up. I showed this trick to my friends when my crew who don't play as akira asked me how to do Akira's Knee. They got it after few trials. It is true that it requires much practice to be able to pull it off consistently, but the move itself is not as hard as it looks.

For pads (PS2 pad) mark the K+G to a shoulder button, and leave the K button on the thumb pad... now simply press the K+G and then (quickly) press the K and hold while letting go of the K+G button.
For the joysticks... it is so much easier than using the pad, so long as you have a decent support (like an old TV dinner portable table or something). Just slide your thumb / index finger off the G button while you hold K.
That, and this has been replied to endlessly... just use Akira's new knee... worse stats, but consistency is better than randomly throwing out the "insanely fast" knee.

I will have to disagree on that...NEVER use his new knee outside of a combo and even then you shouldn't be using it anyway.

WHAT???? It's 17 frames, floats as high as yoho, and is only -10 on block! It's argueably the best 17 frame float starter in the game next to Sarah's DC!

He was talking about the shit knee which is just K + G with the canned P follow-up.

The knee you mentioned isn't exactly "new" is it?

The KNEE is a useless piece of shit technique that you shouldn't even waste your timing trying to pull it out. Just use the bloody Yoho or Shoulder Ram. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Don't sweat too much for Akira's Knee, DLC , or SPOD. Akira can be dangerous without those techniques. It sure is true that if you can do those techniques, you are better off. However, it is not neccesities.

e.i) As far as the knee, you can use Yoho as a floater and DBC for wall combos.

IMO, the two most important factors for playing as Akira is 1.fast SDE buffering 2. Accurate execution of modified moves. Akira's true power comes from SDE and DBL Palm.

And remember that it's gonna be difficult to unleash that true power if [G] is standing in his way. Akira can't forget about his throws. (I know you know this maddy...I'm the one who forgets sometimes /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif)

Come on man, Knee is good /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Without looking into stats I will say that Knee is faster than Yoho and slower than shrm. You can't always float with 'fast' or 'slow'; it's good to have something in between.

Oh, THAT knee...yeah that thing sucks, even in combos. And his real knee is kinda new, y'know? It hits OTG now and doesn't look gay anymore. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Its still a mid ...it scrapes the ground now so that means you can use it in the place of a DBC off a wall combo say ... btw [K]+[G][P] doesn't suck in combos as it does more damage at the end of
    [3][3][P]>[P]>[2_][6][P]+[K]
than a dbpm would vs LWs and some MWs. His new knee simply has a differnet animation and slightly different hit properties ie it scrapes the ground now so you can use it OTB. I know of lots of new Akira players who value the use of [K]+[G][P] in floats. I myself don't use it often but Akira has such a "small" command list (comparitvely speaking, same with Goh for example)there are very few of his moves that I would describe as useless or say that they suck.

[3][3][P], [P], [P], [K]+[G][P] is the suggested (heavyweight, closed stance) combo for Akira on the evo disk, for what it's worth.

And raise your hand if you've never missed Akira's knee before...

    a better one would be [3][3][P], [P], [4][6][P], [3][3][4][6][P]. (HW, closed stance, 89pts).

One prob I have when trying to pull this move is that I don't have a pad, only a Dualshock 2. This is not helping things. Any advice out there on how to do Akira's knee (more specifically) on a controller?
